  1. Window tinting is the next thing I want to do to my car !

Just face it Rick you're a criminal

The way he explained it to me was that you can have the back window and the back side windows as dark as you want ie. like a van, but you're not allowed to tint the windscreen or the front side windows because they obstruct the drivers view at junctions etc. He wasn't overly impressed because he got them done at BMW so presumed they were legal.....

  2. I know it is the law, but the law is an ass :dedhrse:

The Police should be clamping down on the Gypos who write their reg numbers on cardboard, or display different plates on their caravan to that on their Transit Pick Up and those people who deliberately alter the typeface of digits to make them look like something else. Put simplistically, the law should be changed to read that if your licence plate cannot be recognised by ANPR it is illegal. If it can be read by ANPR, then it is legal.

It does seem very trivial i'll give you. Perhaps they've been told to clamp down on it of late. My mate had dicky plates on his X5 and he got done 3 times in as many weeks. Finally excepting defeat he took them off and then, the next day, the police stopped him again and gave him another £30 fine 'cos his windows were too tinted. Nearly wet myself laughing.....

  3. Thin end of the wedge my :ass3:

In America you can gave whatever you want. If the DVLA would prefer you didn't buy the plates if you are going to misrepresent it, they shouldn't put them on sale. Providing that you have the accepted typeface and size, you should be able to represent the digits with whatever spacing you like (this will be completely readable with ANPR). You should be able to have club crest in place of the Euro/UK blue background with yellow stars if you want to and don't take your vehicle out of the country (again, wouldn't affect ANPR).

If they fine me, or remove the right for me to use the reg number, do I get a discount off my Road Tax? Sorry, rhetorical question.

It's the law Rick. I didn't say I agreed with it, was just pointing out that your argument was a tad flawed. Anyway, what do you expect in a country where you can't even have an adult avatar on a football messageboard

  4. May as well give up then eh?

    Woof.

That's not quite what I meant but, I have to admit, most of my usual optimism has begun to disappear. Perhaps the pitiful 2 points we have taken from the last 15 available has something to do with it. I assure you, i'll be as pleased as the next canine should we hump Orient today.....

  5. That'd be typical Latics wouldn't it? Start playing well and winning again when it's too late to matter! And I know it's still mathematically possible before all the happy clappers jump on me but, if we're honest, can anybody see Leeds and / or Scunny dropping enough points for us to overtake them? In a word........NO

  6. When I got pulled (on a dark and snowy M62 near Scammonden Dam in December (HOW dangerous is that?) :ranting: ) the Sheep-Pigs told me that as my reg plate read R11CK W rather than R11 CKW I was clearloy trying to avoid detection from speed cameras and ANPR. It is a complete joke - not forgettting where the money comes from to pay for their nice Volvo estate, training, tea, coffe, buscuits, wages and pension - yes, our friggin income tax.

I drive around 40,000 miles a year and see some terrible driving standards (some of them by Police cars), yet I get threatened that I may have my right to display the rteg number I bought from DVLA taken off me if I continue to display it "illegally". How can the DVLA (also paid for by us tax payers by the way) sell me my number plate and happily take my money knowing what my name is and that I am therefore likely to slightly mis-space the letters and then instruct the police thqat this is illegal?

It is a joke. I reckon you'd get less hassle for not displaying ANY number plates and just saying "They must have fallen off today, because they were there this morning".

    :rant.sml:

It's the thin end of the wedge Rick. If they let that go, where do they stop? And, in fairness to the DVLA, it does say on their website that they'd rather you didn't buy the plate if you intend to mis-represent it.....

  7. Just curious here....

I bought a plate recently for my car which, bearing in mind I didnt pay much for, I am really chuffed with

    its is OL04HAM

Now.....back a good while I was a Sales Exec with Lookers Peugeot on Huddersfield Road and There were a few new motors I needed to shift..Bearing in mind that were in a cup final and one other Semi Final I could not believe my luck when I went to the vehicle tax office and was given by pure fluke a batch of numbers to register new cars with...

    They were:

H10 AFC ( HI 0AFC Just how good does it have to be !!)

    H20 AFC

    H30 AFC

    H40 AFC

    H50 AFC

    H60 AFC

    H70 AFC

    H80 AFC

    H90 AFC

When I was looking for a plate I naturally checked on the sites to see if H10 AFC was available, hoping by chance the car had been scrapped along with the plate - By someone who didnt realise its possible value. No such luck

Im curious to know if anyone knows where these plates ended up or if anyone has car registrations with an Oldham connection

I did look into getting a plate similar to that a couple of years back but decided that getting fined £30 every time I passed

a police car wasn't worth the hassle....

  8. who the f**k are you to call me tubby???

i'll give you the norks cans and other threads, but dont make it personal

hughes has been like a sulky little boy since january,he is a free agent in the summer...we dont have a reserve squad otherwise im sure joe would of stuck him in there.

sending him out when he is leaving anyway is fine, they will pick up his wage freeing up cash for us

the season is only over when it is mathematically impossible to progress.

    Shut it fatty :grin::grin::grin:

  9. I don't know, but I'd be surprised if it was one of Shez's decisions. That said even if it wasn't he should have fought it.

I'm 99% sure that it was Shez's idea Stitch, seem to remember him harping on about how he was going to "hand pick" the opposition to improve the standard etc etc! If i'm wrong, which I usually am, i'll hold my hands up.....
