Len - it's not moaning in that sense. I think, having travelled to Grimsby, fans are entitled to give an honest view on what they have seen aren't they? Or are we all supposed to be happy clappers ? I will always support the manager and team and have never booed Latics. We all know it's a difficult task this season - but today was poor against a poor team - simple. Pre-season has offered little glimpse of anything positive except we have 11 men on the pitch. The manager needs time - a lot of it - but he also needs money to recruit the right players. Some of the recruits don't look good enough for our level - having watched footy for an awful long time it's pretty obvious.

Our recruits haven't kicked a ball in anger yet so it's impossible to judge them in training games and that's all these friendly games are gloryfied training sessions.

  2. We've lost every game in pre-season. We've conceded in every game in pre-season and have scored in just x2 of them....

We've had no time to train and get the v small squad we have ready. It is the worst preparation for a season in living memory.

Of course it's going to be in for a tough long season. I completely agree.

Anyone who doesn't is simply mad or a blind optimist or both....

Will still support Oldham tho. Admittedly with my hands over my eyes most of the time....

Kin ell don't go near any bridges.

  3. 300k seems alot, was it in terms of how much they take in revenue or how much they take in terms of profit? Because 300k revenue seems about right, but when you factor in the cost of the speaker, food, staff, wastage, cleaning, drinks etc then it doesn't leave you with that much.

Revenue but like you say by the time you've taken all the other things into consideration it wouldn't leave you the £300k but it wouldn't "only be a few grand" either.
  4. Charles Hawtrey styled ooooooh* there. Equates to "...a few grand" at best, doesn't it? Depends what "dinners" means. Now I'm no financial expert but if the club put on just one sportsmans dinner a week all year round that could potentially net the OEC over £500k a year which is £500k they didn't have last year.

  5. Clarke Harris went for £300k and Smith for the same, but plus Kelly. I think.

Lets not forget the Lee Johnson legacy was bringing 1.6 million to the club through selling Jch,Tarky,Baxter and Smith. When sheff united released Baxter the other week there was a story in the local rag saying they bought him for £500k.
