Damn, you got it first time :ranting:

Yes, its Paul Scholes, i saw him getting out of his very own 1972 Austin Allegro outside BP at dinner.

    [

Cant see DP signing another midfielder lol Scholes.. Has to be a striker on loan for the season but will probably be Haining

  2. was a little unsure about the appointment of DP at first (when he announced 40 pts was his first target) but i must say im 100% in favour, he is building a cracking squad spotting some good talent.

Dave Penny could well be a football genius B)

Excellent signing striker next DP maybe see a striker and centre half arrive on loan for the season..

Wernt we in touch with Prem clubs a few weeks ago including Arsenal and Chelsea re loans???

  3. Big Gordy wants to keep it under wraps until we determine whether they are worth a punt - Both to sign this week imho

LEE HUGHES and Will Haining are two familiar faces on the training ground as Athletic begin the countdown to the new campaign.

Hughes (33) has asked Athletic if he can train with them until he gets fixed up with a new club. Hughes, who turned down a lucrative deal at Doncaster in January, was loaned to Blackpool towards the end of the season when he was told by caretaker manager Joe Royle that he did not feature in his plans.

Haining is also looking for a club after moving back to England following two seasons playing in the Scottish Premier League for St Mirren.

Haining (26) had almost nine years at Boundary Park.

  4. DP likes going to M'Brgh for loans any chance of Jonathan Franks and Nathan Porritt??

    Nathan Porritt

A HIGHLY-TALENTED forward who can produce moments of world class skill.

Porritt signed professional terms with Boro in the 2008/9 season and is one of the most exciting prospects to have come through the Academy.

He continues to impress in the Reserves under Martin Scott and also made the bench for the first team during the 2008/09 season.

Born in Middlesbrough, he can operate on either wing or as a striker and has done well at England youth level throughout his time at the club.

Along with Boro's Jason Steele and Jonathan Franks he took part in the U17 World Cup and he has also been a member of the England U19 set-up.

    Jonathan Franks

JONATHAN FRANKS is a promising attacking midfielder and forward who has represented England at youth level.

Born in Stockton, the 18-year-old scholar has impressed at Reserves level and was rewarded with a professional contract in 2009 after a number of impressive performances for both club and country.

Franks along with fellow team-mates Porritt and Jason Steele helped England U17 progress to the final of the European Championships and also starred in the U17 World Cup in Korea.

Made his first team debut away to West Ham United in the final game of the 2008-09 season.

  5. You cant tell by the title... What I wanted was a refreshing post that cant turn in to an massive argument on wether or not some of our posters know whats best for Mr Penny

should find out if we have been successful with the 2nd signing of the weekend after loosing out on one of them.. Hopefully Furman will arrive early this week after agreeing compo with Rangers..

How many did DP want? we have signed Abbott, Gregan, Jacobson, Purdie and Worthington another four including loans?

  6. Yeah. I think it's well known we've spoken to him, and I would think met Rangers fee. If he opted for the club in the higher league, it just hinges on whether they can guarantee him more first team football. I think he'd be one of the first names down on the team sheet for us, which hopefully would be a bigger pull than a fringe or ressie player in the Championship. Bit of a dilemma for him I'd imagine.

But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if we missed out, but over the moon if we secured him. A player of his quality could well mean the difference in us being a good bet for at least the play-offs or bottom-half material.

didn't know a Champ club was in for Furman souns like Clarke to me

  7. I give up with the signings now i hear were just about to sign someone on the official website, i check it every day and the only one ive seen so far is a player we just released and andy ritchie goin for masters gold

MEN says DP will find out in the next few days if he has been successful with three signings are these the three deals he had already agreed and due to sign last week when they returned from holiday?!

  8. Just been to collect my season ticket and whilst waiting saw two fellas leave the main entrance and get into a car - didn't recognise anyone but one was suited and booted (agent?) and the other in shorts and t-shirt (player?).....

Maybe Abbott who is to decide his future in the next day or so one player it aint is Franz Burgmeier

It has been revealed that Liechtenstein international winger Franz Burgmeier has left Darlo and has signed for FC Vaduz. Vaduz are a side from Liechtenstein who play in the Swiss Super League and Franz will be hoping to help his new side have a successful campaign next season.

Burgmeier`s career with Quakers got off to a superb start as he gave a number of man of the match performances in the first few weeks of his spell in English football. Franz`s delivery from set pieces was first class and he also popped up to score a few goals during his time in a black and white hooped shirt. I felt Burgmeier could have well earned himself a move to a bigger club in England however once the club fell into economic difficulties the players form seemed to dip and Dave Penney even rested the wide man on a number of occasions in an attempt to get the midfielder back to his best.

Burgmeier became one of my favourite Darlington players of recent times as the displays he put in for Quakers during his first few months at the club where of the highest quality. Franz is one of players I would have liked the club to have kept for the 2009/10 season. However the financial problems of last term and this seasons limited budget have meant that Darlo were unable to keep Burgmeier at the club.

Another player who seems certain to be moving on from the Arena is Pawel Abbott. Abbott is known to have many admirers both in English and Scottish football and the talented front mans future could well be announced in the next few days. A fully fit Abbott would be an asset in any side in League 1 or 2 as he can net 20-25 goals a season in the lower divisions if can stay injury free.

  9. Penney said the other day that 3 of the players he's offered a contract to are due back at the end of this week.

when did he say that i thought they were back last week?! deals agreed with agents a week last friday due to complete when they arrived back last week!! players we are in negotiations with are due to arrive back this week.. Thats how I read it may be wrong though so many different story coming out of the club at the mo..

  10. striker has agreed and loose ends being tied up - cant be made official yet but shirt sponsorship etc already agreed - its a good signing and all but done - little bit of patience and all will be happy ! Name wont be a surprise but cant be confirmed yet. Goals goals goals !!!!!!:grin::grin:

fingers crossed for Billy Clarke but we have been here before
