Rumour has it that Jim Gannon has been offered the Oldham job but he turned
it down. Reason was he would be given no money for new players had to
work with what we have got.

No question - season ticket bought.
In my blood too much to do anythng else

I must disagree with this post. For the first time this season i was encouraged with what i saw from Penny.
Firstly he started the game with a 4-5-1 which town were no where near expecting. The boy's played the best footballing first half I have seen from them yet, willing to close down straight away, always looked to get Stephens on the ball early and the extra pace out wide with Guy game them a real headache, If it hadn't been for poor finishing (story of our season) we could have gone in at half time two to the good.
Clark then changed their structure at half time and got them attacking the channels between our CB's and full backs, again due to the work rate and discipline there wasn't an issue. Again town were frustrated and had to change their formation to 4-5-1 to counter our dominant midfield, within seconds Penny decided to give them the midfield and change to 4-4-2 to try and get something for the game.
Lee see's red and again Penny changes it up, going for broke and goes to 3-4-2. In my opinion good on him, nothing to loose and everything to gain. He make the much talked about substitutions to try and inject something different into it. Pav was knackered and also looked to be carrying some knock, Taylor was just ineffective, found out within the first 30mins by Hudds, always cutting inside and once pressured always looking to recycle the ball, in a nutshell not a threat.
If only Eves had composure we would have been 1-1 with 6mins to play, missed a sidefoot volley from 8yds which debatable he even had time to take a touch on, the sign of other player without confidence.
All in All a really good display from the lads, a desire to play football, lots of running up front, a manager who for once responded to what he saw in the game. If only we had composure in front of the pegs!
Anyway that is only my thoughts from what i saw.

One from the rumour mill: Jim Gannon in the process of buying a house in Oldham.

I've been watching Latics since 1967 with all its ups and downs and seen good and bad managers in that time.
I sometimes question whether players have the pride to pull on the blue shirt of Latics but never managers – until this one!

Like most posting on here I have had patience with Dave Penney and thought that after the 'dead wood' had gone from the club and he had brought in some useful players, things would improve.
I know we've had our fair share of injuries etc. but excuses are now wearing thin.
We don't seem to have any idea of how to break teams down, how to change it around when things are not working out and, more worrying, there doesn't seem to be any passion in the players (or the managerial staff) – apart from Sean Gregan who has been a revelation this season.
The standard of play has declined and we have now reverted into a Ronnie Moore type side playing Hoof football!

What drivel!

Two clueless football teams

Didn't Dave Penney attend the pitch inspection? Why did he not voice his concerns about an early inspection?
-
Wouldn't be offering Byfield a contract and would be letting O'Grady go on loan - not good enough as back ups.
Similarlarly, though Lomax was found wanting and Blackpool soon found out where the weak link was in order to get their crosses in for our centre backs NOT to deal with!

Called at the Club to get more info regarding the Three Month Interest Payment Plan only to be told as I walked away with the leaflet, that there was a charge of £15 put on by Zebra. I expressed my views, saying that it wasn't interest free and that there was no mention of this on any literature or the website only to get a shrug of the shoulders from the person in the ticket office.
Feeling miffed I phoned Zebra who told me that they didn't put any charge on and it must have been added by the Club for 'administration' purposes!
Emailed Alan Hardy (twice) asking for an explanation and still waiting for a reply . . .
