Phil Brown not enjoying his time abroad apparently and has a get out clause in his contract which he only recently extended but waiting for a job ‘up north’ in the UK, the other being Kevin Nolan. Doubt any of the two would accept the way AL treats people though.
Would take brown over clark and coyle any day of the week not great by all means though.
All very underwhelming isn’t it!
Phil Brown has shown interest in the gig at least a couple of times before but I suspect he would want a bit of a budget to work with, like many of the other potential candidates. He was in the running for the job before LJ got the nod but wanted a fair wedge as a bonus for avoiding relegation hence why Corney turned to LJ.
And I too would take him over the likes of Clark and Coyle.

Didn’t realise the dazzler was appointed in early May. Always thought it was later on in the summer (mid June around fixture release time) as I seem to remember him not having the foggiest that we playing Walsall away in our opening fixture and looking a bit stupid in a press conference.

How would people feel about us appointing Julian Baudet?
Quick search on wiki says he currently manages in the French 7th Division so he’ll have a good knowledge of Marco’s potential summer signings.

Wasn’t he stood down for a Blackpool game once?
Yes that’s correct, against Portsmouth. It was a few days after the oystons had lost their high court battle.

It’s fairly common knowledge (and has been for many years) that the club and stadium are owned by different companies. It doesn’t take a lawyer or accountant to find that info out. If he did think he was getting the stadium included in the purchase price then he is incredibly naive and Corney has well and truly pulled his trousers down.

I don't really know the full circs of their situation, there must be a reason behind the fans demanding he go? These things don't occur overnight.
Same here but I know that the Vale fans have had grievances with their chairman/owner for quite a few years now. It’s not something recent that has triggered this.

Can’t see it myself at that price.
In terms of the sell on clause (that Corney famously sold for peanuts of its actual eventual value) we only had a clause based on the sale of him from Brentford which was the sale to Burnley. We wouldn’t have had a sell on for every move he makes in his career.
It would all depend on how the clause was worded and crucially would also hinge on Brentford inserting a sell on clause when he was sold to Burnley. So theoretically we would have been in line for ?20% of Brentford’s cut. A few years ago, Dale received about £100k IIRC when Rickie Lambert joined Liverpool as Bristol Rovers (who signed him from Dale) had also inserted a sell on clause when he’d joined Southampton. Anyway we’ll never know, thanks Simon.

The record score of 6-0 for one leg of the League Cup, when Latics beat West Ham, has been broken tonight by City.
They equaled the record a few years back, also against West Ham oddly enough. Didn’t expect it to be surpassed though.

Has any Oldhamer ever managed a Professional League club before?

After having a quick glance at their message board things aren’t good at Vale. There was a lot of negativity and resentment towards Aspin before today’s game.

Would we have had more joy if we went bust in 2004 and went bust? I think so.
The club wouldn’t have the asset strippers as landlords for a start. OMBC were the landlords at the time and the club had a ten year period to buy the land back at the same price OMBC paid for it. If we’d had set up as a Phoenix club and risen through the leagues we may have had the scope to buy it back ourselves. All hypothetical mind.

I’d love Paul Hurst but probably no chance of him wanting to come here
He was interested in the Notts County job recently and look where they are.

Neil ethridge in net for Cardiff in the prem, did charlton pay a fee for his loan and exit. Was very odd at the time.
We had Rachubka as first choice at the time and he was in good form. Was under the impression Etheridge was here on a short term contract. I’m sure LJ said at the time that he wanted to keep him for longer but surprisingly money was tight and had to be used elsewhere.

Oldham born winger Will Buckley anyone?
Am I right in thinking he was once on our books as a kid? Before going to Dale?

He’s said on Twitter about having a good day’s training and that he’s close to full fitness.

And just who affordable can improve this very ordinary team?
Answers on a postage stamp.
Gary Bowyer was mentioned the other day. He’s got a promotion from this division on his cv. He’s also earned his stripes working under alleged volatile club owners. So the shenanigans at BP wouldn’t put him off.

How many tickets will we get, is it a quarter of capacity.
FA rules state that it’s 15% of total capacity.

The prize money has doubled this season. Winning the first round would be worth £36k. With £54k on offer for the winners of round two. Would be a big boost to the club if we can get some favourable ties and progress into round three.

One of the most disappointing things about Saturday is if we'd won, Sheridan would have probably been sacked by Carlisle and we could have reappointed him ....
That won’t happen until we are in the bottom two, then he can do his shezurection mark three. Incidentally did you get a photo with your hero on sat?

If AL does decide to pull the plug because he’s skint then it doesn’t bear thinking about what will happen. No assets, a ground we don’t own, we are well and truly screwed.

We will probably pay the wages with the Carlisle gate receipts, if that covers it...
We’ve been here before with Corney, robbing Peter to pay Paul. It’s very concerning considering our wage bill must have been slashed dramatically since last season. If AL doesn’t have a pot to piss in then why did he buy the club? Sheer madness.

To be fair read their forum, they think they played like Barcelona tonight and the best they've played in many a year.
Granted we were defensive but we had to be at times against a decent outfit.
Not excuses but it's a decent point.
I agree and it is a good point. I’d have took a point before the game as I expect them to be at least challenging for the playoffs. It’s the manner in which the point has been gained which is the issue. I didn’t go to the game but watched it via a live feed. We were shocking. We need to be much better on Saturday.

Well, during the whole late payments, he was seriously struggling for money, he told the club they did nothing, he had to ask around for money to pay bills. Sour taste
Without trying to mitigate it, surely several or most of the players would have been in the same boat though?

They win 2-0? I don't remember much if anything of the game to be fair
Yes it finished 2-0 courtesy of a late brace from Vialli. Garnett had marked him out of the game until he had to be subbed due to injury.
A Plan?

The ground only had three sides when we played Everton. Capacity was around 10,600 at that time.
