cec was a good friend of my late  fathers and is a massive Latics fan and a regular attendee of matches believe he sits in the mainstand upper so can see him being amenable to this

Beat me too it. Seen him many times in the main stand upper. A few years back I was walking through royton with my daughter (with our Latics shirts on) on the way to a match. Cec pulled over and said he couldn’t make the game but said he had two spare tickets and could have them for free if we wanted. Wasn’t much use to us as we had season tickets but a very kind gesture either way.

I've watched a few league 2 matches over the years as my mate is a Luton fan and I occasionally tagged along when we were away and Luton were in the north.  I've seen the sublime to the ridiculous. The fact is the quality of football is ridiculously erratic were you'll see a passage of play akin to Clayton playing fields in the middle of winter and from nowhere , someone will do something worthy of winning a world cup final. There are more 'individual' players that drive teams in this division. The teams with a more solid team mentality usually do well. If we can draft a TEAM rather than individuals then we have a very good chance of a successful season.

I said something similar the other week with regards to us being a team and having unity in the group. We can’t afford to have different camps and players not wanting to be here. When RW gets back off his jollies he needs to address this.

Chesterfield and Port Vale relegated last year-have you looked at this seasons League 2? Both clubs of a similar stature to us.

Both of those clubs have had their share of off the field problems with wantaway owners/possible takeovers etc. Hopefully we will avoid any shitstorms and AL will steady things at the club.  Hopefully AL does have a pot to piss in too!

I said no before and my answer would be the same now. One win in more than the last quarter of the season is not acceptable. Nor is most of his team not looking arsed in games we needed to win. Nor is being second best against a side already relegated on the last day when survival was in our own hands.

I'm totally unconvinced by Wellens but if he's staying, and it sounds very much as if he is, I'll be more than happy if he proves me wrong.

Kind of where I’m at. I voted no in the poll and thought he should have been fired after the Northampton game but it looks like AL will give him another crack at it.

I said a few weeks back in another thread that I was yet to be convinced by Wellens.  I think if we are out of all the cups and in the lower reaches of the league at Christmas he’ll be gone.  Obviously I hope that’s not the case and hope he does well.

Time for an honest assessment- on and off the field. Truth and transparency is a good place to start.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, Jack. Conference on the cards. Oblivion beyond.

I hope it’s an opinion and not based on facts!!

I hope it’s just an opinion too. If there are any concerns then hopefully the trust are aware of them.

I’m intrigued as to why a team that’s just been relegated would want a rookie manager , with months rather than years experience, already with a relegation on his CV ? Baffling.

It is a strange one. Their chairman has gone on record as saying his last two appointments have been big mistakes. What would RW offer them that’s any different?

I am confident there will be some news this week

I've said on a previous thread and I don't want to come across as a stuck record,  but it's hard to roll out your short term/long term plan and bring in some new board members when one of the old guard us still there.

We all need time to absorb what's happened, fans, staff, players and owner

TBA I'm sure we will get some news soon

Can AL not just exclude SC from board meetings like the trust member of the board allegedly was? Find it a bit odd that he’s still hanging around tbh.

Has any club relegated or otherwise released a statement of intent or plan to go forward? The season ended 2 days ago.

Pete Winklemen from the franchise issued an apology to the fans and has promised to provide them with one of the largest budgets in league 2. Not sure about Bury or Northampton though.

he’s on a par with the likes of Dean Brill. Get rid.

I still shudder thinking of him lining his walls up for direct free kicks. Hopefully we’ll sign a solid 30odd yr old goalkeeper but we’ll probably end up with another foreigner who we’ve never heard of. What’s Joel Coleman up to at Huddersfield?

Thinking about it again, this article might have been Wellens's attempt to get his side of the story out before he is gagged by the non disclosure clause in his pay off agreement - which probably being negotiated as I write.

If it was Wellens who contributed to it, which I doubt, then it’s completely unprofessional on his part and poor form for somebody who claims to care about the club. Especially in the run up to the Northampton game too.

It's not going to be a silly offer is it? The lads played about 5 games and he's a defender

He’s had glowing references from both TP and Wellens. TP and Wellens have both said he’s raw but he has the attributes to play at the top level. They don’t make statements like that about every kid that comes through. No doubt the scouts at premier league clubs will have picked up on this too. They could be wrong though and he could go the other way like many have in the past.

Here's a novel thought, how about rejecting all bids and using him to push on the next few years and help him grow? The short mindines on this board is astounding at time, we just want to sell as soon as there's a sniff. We have a new owner so let's try changing mindset and be a bit more positive. Especially once this seasons done!

I agree but if a premier league club does come in with a silly offer then the club would be foolish not to consider it.

.....if they do, we’ll get to see how good Lemsagam is at negotiating. It would be a positive sign if he didn’t just cave in at the first contact and flog him for peanuts

Hopefully this is where his experience as an agent may come in handy.

Just looked at their home crowds.....rarely much above 5k excluding away fans....even for the big game v Plymouth last week there were only 5.4k home fans.....the stadium holds around 7750 so with a bit of planning and forethought they could have given us 2.5k tickets ....as I said, football is run by twats

it would have been great if Latics had taken the initiative here and anticipated this a few weeks ...or maybe our famous trust and fans representative (LOL) could have actually raised this

Maybe Northampton thought it would go down to the wire and thought they’d be able to fill the stand with their own fans? They were still in with an outside chance of staying up til yesterday.
