The gap between League 1 and League 2 really isn't that great, Chesterfield and Port Vale are proof of that, Carlisle are a fair team at home against most and there's no such things as gimme's especially if one or two players don't turn up.
Incidentally, that was Carlisle’s first win at home since August. But I agree that normally they are no mugs on their own patch.

Posh draw with non league.
Terrible really.
Additionally, Oxford were beaten at Port Vale and Bristol Rovers were beaten at Notts County last night. Again, both league two opponents.

Sounds like a couple of the loanees might not be available.
Unless Wellens is keeping their availability up his sleeve to disrupt Carlisle’s preparations. Fingers crossed anyway

Transfermarkt isn't always gospel, but does have him as the all time top scorer of it:

That’s something he’ll be able to look on fondly with the grandchildren.

Richard Graham was doing ok until injury struck, same with Nick Sinclair, a classy full back.
He was a good player Richard Graham and I’m pretty sure he’d have played at a higher level had it not been for his constant injuries.
Although I don’t recall him playing for them I’m sure he was on the fringe of the England U21 setup a few times too.

Tom Eaves is doing well.
Tom Eaves and Josh Parker both bagged in Gillingham’s win at Rotherham on Saturday.

Still not sure how we won that day at Everton. That run he took us on at the back end of that year and the start of the next was unbelieveable. Leeds, Everton, Millwall, Bournemouth, Southend, sure I've missed a couple more out as well.
Are you John Sheridan or related to him by any chance? Most people are fully aware of his achievements as both a player and a manager. These achievements will not be forgotten but it’s time to let go. No doubt at some point he will be back at BP. He was a regular (during rearranged fixtures) in the main stand upper when he was the boss at Chesterfield.

So fans get the chance to ask our new manager about his plans and the chance to grill Moisley about the takeover yet somebody asks about Mouldy Old Dough?
-
I wonder if we’ll get told how lucky we are compared to Stockport or Tranmere.

I genuinely don’t see what the issue is with season ticket holders receiving a discount for the game. It’s been said many times before but season ticket holders stump up in advance of the start of the season not knowing what kind of campaign is in store. Many of our fans stumped up towards the end of last season not even knowing what division we’d be in this season. I do acknowledge a season ticket is much cheaper than pay on the day rates. Why begrudge people who stump up their hard earned in good faith a small concession?

Just seen on transfermarket.com Doyle is contracted to Preston till 2019 Byrne 2020 to Wigan it has Doyle currently valued at £600K and Byrne at £900K and that’s without wages, even if the takeover does get completed I doubt very much Abdullah will have £1.5M to splash out straight away on these 2
That would be the same transfer market.com that values Ollie Banks at £113k, Paul Green at £225k and Ryan Flynn at £315k. Abdallah just has to flog those three and that’s Doyle paid for.

Who's Ian Black?
Defensive midfielder who was at Shrewsbury til having his contract cancelled this January. He's based in the northwest so we may just be doing him a favour and helping him keep fit.

It's a no-brainer really.

if I had have paid, it would have been worth every penny to watch Jack Byrne play. The guy oozes class...
Spot on, this guy is a pleasure to watch. Wigan must have some midfield for him to not get a sniff.

I know Gilders a fan and generally I agree with a lot of what he says but championing Dowie was bordering on cringe and reminding us how lucky we are to not be Tranmere was just plain embarrassing.
As you say he is a big fan of the club. Not the first time he has churned out Tranmere as an example though. A couple of years back in the pub, I think Darren Kelly was the manager at the time, he became all defensive when myself and a friend questioned him about the club hierarchy and the general running of the club. He defended Corney to the hilt and quoted Tranmere, Grimsby and Stockport and how lucky we were to have Simon.
Glad I didn't waste my time listening as we very rarely learn anything new.

The raffle winner can play a pass, will be a player without defensive duties.
Conceding 2 a game is ridiculous, other managers would and have been killed for it, needs sorting.
I was very impressed with the raffle winner, like you say he can play a pass and he put some decent crosses in from the left side. First time we've had somebody doing that for a while. Just a shame he had to spend half the game covering for a sluggish looking gerrard.
-
Felt we were very unlucky today not to get something from the game, if not win it. Had Doyle's chance gone in instead of hitting the post I think we'd have gone on and won. We were well on top and creating a lot of chances. If we can sort the defensive element out we will soon climb the table.

No conclusions being jumped to on my part just speaking hypothetically and looking at things from a different angle

The guy is an agent, i said i was against this and people downboated me for it, if he is linked with a takeover, the people who think he isnt going to use that as a way of getting his foot in the door with people he is involved with are deluded as fuck......we are going to end up with a load of no hopers getting signed who may even be as shit as the no hopers we've got now.......if he takes over or is involved with a takeover we will somehow be worse off then where we are now if thats even possible......in a nutshell were fucked
It just seems a bit strange to me. Oddly enough, in another thread a few days before Corney made this announcement the consensus was that Corney and his friends behind the scenes were demanding too much for the club and other assets. Why would this guy come in and make to them an acceptable offer just to potentially turn the club into a car boot for crappy foreign players? There must be cheaper clubs out there to buy if that's the intention. Just seems really odd but I'm sure it'll all come out eventually.
I would love it to be a billionaire oil baron who is behind the scenes and this abdullah the football agent is just a red herring but this is Latics after all.

Heard a few things today which haven't surprised me, With the way Sheridan has been in interviews the last week.
Sheridan not happy as this 'investor' has been getting involved with training all week putting his mark on the team which isn't laying well with shez or the coaching team. The guy apparently Brought in more trialists today which were bad quality, Didn't go down well as friday is the main prep day for games.
Players aren't impressed either.
Im not a fan of corney at all but for me I would prefer corney all day long with what I've heard. I'm not one to come out with 'in the know stuff' but my last thing I heard was that we got put under an embargo last season which I posted on here. So not one for making things up.
Corney has said on numerous occasions over the years that he would only sell to the right person and to someone who could take the club forwards. He's even said that he's rebuffed interest from interested parties as they've not seemed a good fit. If there is any truth in this then it's a concern. I thought 'due diligence' from an investor was combing through the books, not holding training sessions with the players.
-
The blog is absolutely spot on and is where I'm at. It's never been revealed exactly how much Corney and co are demanding for the club, brass bank, oec and whatever other companies are connected to the club. The question has been asked a few times on various platforms but has always been dodged.
It seems the powers that be want back a full return on their investment. It's easy for me to say as it's not my money but that is unrealistic at the level we are at hence the lack of serious interest. Nobody in their right mind would pay approaching £20m or whatever figure it is for a stagnating third tier club with a dwindling fan base. So unless the owners are willing to either invest more to fund a promotion assault or cut their losses and sell for a more realistic sum we are well and truly goosed.

Enjoyed watching that 10 minute or so clip, even though I've seen the goals many times before. Seems as though Latics have always made things difficult and put fans through the mill.
-
Cliff, have you contacted the fans' liaison officer or anybody else at the club regarding this video? I don't know if the stewards are employed in-house or if it's subcontracted work these days but it needs investigating.
The Oxford fan is no angel from what has been raked up about him and he was clearly looking for a reaction in the clip. Not that it condones the behaviour of the steward. They are there to manage the crowd and should be trained in conflict resolution. They shouldn't be rising to provocation.
As I said in the original thread I've witnessed overly aggressive behaviour from stewards towards fans away from home many times and even at BP towards our own fans. Camera phones weren't around then though.

Not doubting whether you were telling the truth Cliffy boy. Was just looking at it from a different angle. Maybe he'll get paid once Simon has visited the NatWest.
