  1. Facebook official Latics page:

"Latics have informed Paul Dickov that his contract will not be renewed when it expires in the summer. Dickov was given a 1 year rolling contract with club, and with a recent run of bad results, the board have chosen not to extend his stay at the League One outfit."

  2. In the rarely-wrong Chron's story of Stephens being keen to stay at Southampton, Stephens only says:

“I’d like to think so, but as far as I know it’s just a loan at the moment, so hopefully I’ll play games here and impress the gaffer," Stephens told the Southampton club website.

"I'm delighted to be here and I’ll take every game as it comes because it’s a test for me, but a good opportunity too, so we’ll see what comes of that.”

All of which is stating the obvious, but may be interpreted by readers as a declaration of the player's intent never to return to Latics. They might be proved right eventually, but then again they might not.

Which is the exact 2 quotes from Sky Sports, good scoop in the Chron then!!

Probably just the same as Sky Sports said on Monday

  3. 96/97 Held a bloody good Bolton side to a 0-0

Mark Allott's debut goal. Restricted view at Burnden, my dad asked me to pick up my programme from under my seat as it was over, and missed the goal!

06/07 Beat Scunny 1-0 at BP drew 1-1 away

    Gary Mac last min!

07/08 Beat Swansea 2-1 at BP lost 1-2 away

Ricketts debut goal! Watching SSN in Liverpool airport after knee reconstruction!

08/09 Drew 1-1 at BP with Leicester, drew 0-0 away

    Windass in nets, on Sky

    My most memorable...

  4. BBC

BBC Radio Manchester's looking for an Oldham Athletic fan who attended the fans' forum this week and will come on and tell us what was discussed and what they made of it.

If you want to let us know how it went send your details to manchestersports@bbc.co.uk and we'll get in touch.

    Thanks

  5. Incase anyone wondered about what Tricky Ricky is doing now, he is still donning the boots as a striker in the Isle of Man Veterans League. He's scored 3 in 4!

He also got an honourable mention in our local footy blog:

"On Sunday pre-season favourites Peel were narrowly defeated by table toppers Ayre 3-2 in Andreas.

What the Videprinter didn’t tell you was that the western wonders’ front two had a combined age of 97 with former first team manager Rick Holden, 46, pairing up with the combination coach Sam Brown, 51 in the final third of the pitch. Sam underlined the theory that ‘class is permanent’ by joining the considerably younger Chris Hawke on the scoresheet in the narrow reverse.

Can any other veterans’ side boast a frontline of such antique pedigree?"

  6. I've got no idea, it's pathetic. I can kind of understand the whole celebrity stalking thing (not my bag but each to their own)...I just wouldn't have put <snip> particularly high up on anyone's list, except perhaps mummy and daddy <snip>.

 Yes I suppose stalking him a great idea, but popped up as one of those 'friend of a friend' suggestions, and added a few players!

  7. Why on earth would anyone be friends with <snip> on facebook if you didn't even know him? I'd struggle to fathom why you'd want to be friends with any Latics player you didn't know anyway, but <snip>...

    How sad.

Social networking is not just about mates. If it was, you'd just phone them rather than add on there. Why do people follow celebs all the time on FB and Twitter then if they don't know them? The point is to get an insight into their life.

Ryan Babel has over 200,000 followers on Twitter, pretty sure they aren't all mates on first name terms. Why would the papers pick up on a story and the FA charge him over something he publicly did on the internet, when he should have known better anyway, and if they don't even know him?

Could have all been prevented anyway if a) didn't say it for anyone on the internet to see, b)locked his profile, or c) they had the money to pay the players on time! :disappointed:

    How sad.

  8. Do we actually knoiw that the facebook account in question is even genuine?

Knowing who it is, nobody would set up a fake account, and if they have they've done a very good job. Agreed if I didn't get paid I would be fuming especially needing the cash, but I wouldn't slate my employers, who have a load of fans worrying about the club as it is.

ok its unprofessional and even childish, but its not as bad as hiring someone then not paying them. suppose it depends what he has said. if it goes no further than 'not been paid again and i cant pay my bills, this is very unprofessional what a set of jokers.' or words to that effect, then i cant see a problem.

It's a bit worse than that, it's not ridiculous but doesn't read well looking as it as a fan.

If he kept his wall private he'd be ok, but the silly tit has it public!

    Precisely!

  9. LEWI - I thought it might be him, not sure why but he immediatly sprung to mind.

In which case not much evaluation needed

It wasn't Lewi that I'm talking about, should I name? I've asked Ackey, don't want to get in trouble etc! I think the club should be informed, as said before, can't slag off your employers.

  10. Well go and tell that player that we are not exactly over the moon at the thought of possibly not having a football club to support in the near future !

He has really gone down in my estimation because of what he's been saying last few days! He's not a mate just added as a Latics player. Footballers on social networks eh? Understand the frustration at not being paid, but not the way to react.
