  1. Just a quick question. There's lots of talk on here about personal circumstances (job/young kids, etc.) effectively ruling out a huge tranche of the supporter base from aspiring to become a director, or, heaven forbid, the chairman of the trust due to the time one has to invest.

I'm just wondering how many hours on average the directors put in each week. Casting aside greetings, chitchat, supping tea/beer, watching the game, etc, how much actual time of decision-making/brainstorming/impementing and follow-up does it consume?

Just curious. FWIW, my stab in the dark would be 203 minutes, 37 seconds but admittedly could be way off.

(Go on, add your guesstimate - it's just like guessing how many beans are in the jar) ;) Winner gets to lead the trust!*

All the best to all fellow fans,

*This is a bit of lightheartedness masking a fairly serious question.

  2. All of, "Barry's," comments public comments for a year or two were in fact ghost written by the poster formerly known as, "Inspiral Carpet." The problem is that it's not the way Barry presents his opinions that is the problem, it's what his opinions are. This is where the Trust got it so wrong (and where the then OWTB team should have drawn a line in terms of conflict of interest) - if you have to materially doctor what the top man says as a matter of course before you allow it to go out without it outraging the public, the problem isn't PR, it's the views of the top man.

Tell me this isn't true, gawd, tell me it isn't true...

  3. A game in hand off 3rd. The top half is really close. Let's just hope when the 2-8th break off from everyone else, we're apart of it and not one of the teams who gets left behind.

Being unbeaten at home is doing us wonders, granted we probably should have took points off Leyton and Yeovil but that's the way the cookie crumbles. We'd be up there with Brighton if we had the goalscorer to clinch us the extra two points when we're drawing.

Our losses have comes against Brighton, Peterborough and Southampton, all away, went a goal up against all 3. No shame there.

The season is turning out to be pretty decent.

Not 'alf. Very good comments. I'd say the gaffer is doing a very good job (you should see all the knicker-twisting going on at Down At The Mac). Makes the nonsense on here pale in comparison.

    It's in our own hands.

    Cheers,

  4. Thanks for all the suggestions, all, but crikey! All three stands have been recommended!:unsure: I suppose everyone has their preferred spot.

I figured with the Lookers not there to block the wind, certain stands - especially the Main, would be colder than previously. Yet from memory, there's fewer effers and jeffers in there. Any of the Main-standers think the same?

    Cheers once again.

  5. Cheers for the reply, bt.

I know the spot you're talking about - the biggest little one and I were in there once or twice last summer. Not family-friendly at all - where does one change curap-filled pants? In the shut-down bogs? (Not a dig, BTW)

Let me re-phrase the question: Which stand is least wind-whipped and/or has any kind of facilities for folk with toddlers?

    Cheers,

  6. Evening all,

My family and I have chosen Shaw as this year's winter vacation destination. Can think of no place better on Earth to enjoy the cold, rain and misery.

Needless to say, and determined to be as bad a parent as I can, Latics indoctrination is required for the two little 'uns.

The biggest little 'un will be about 2 1/2 come Christmas; the littlest likkle 'un 6 months.

So the question is; where's the least cold/windy/kid-tolerent place to torture 'um?

Those that say "Not next to me" needn't reply ;)

Seriously, any advice? Be much appreciated...

    Cheers,

  7. To be frank, I think Mr. Owen is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

One only needs to read his original, error-prone post to see the evidence.

Not only is it badly written, but it also contains a confession within of his complete inability to do anything but act as a chocolate teapot for, by his own admisson, 7 very long years...

We have a young, eager, hungry manager, chomping at the bit and leading the team. We need that same hunger and eagerness to galvanise the town. Again I state: A sniping, defending, self-justifying Mr. Owen is part of the problems we face as a club, and is far, far, far from the answer.

    Owen The Albatross Out.

"Keep The Faith?" I'd rather say "Stop The Rot".

    Pah.
