  1. Lotsa phonetic "shuns" up there in BigFin's very valid post. And he's bang on when he says Shez needs more time to do his job

    Ambition

    Promotion

    Progression

    Formation

    Expectation

    Progression

    Determination

    Frustration

    Relegation

    Resignation

Being a Latix fan, or a footie fan in general brings up lots of "shun's". With Shez, from the above list of 10, it's all a mixed bag. What we all want is easy enough to pick out.

    Is patiencetion a word? ;)

  2. Just a twopennethworth;

The reason I became a supporter of Oldham was a visit and free ticket ("Anyone that wants one can 'ave one") by the club to Rushcoft Primary School. Had a great time, won 3-1 (vs B/Burn Rovers, I think), and was from that point on, hooked. My Dad, who was forced to take me, was a passive 'dale/City fan; my bro, and my Mum, who both had no interest in footie at all, took a while, but eventually got intruiged by our Sat'day highs and lows. Hey presto! 20 years of tickets and merchandise - many thousands of pounds - from FOUR previously disinterested local people for now more than 20 years - was on the back of a free ticket, a play in the padock, and a win, and a sense of anticipation.

I'd argue that a bloke like Chaddy is equally as deserving - and just as necessary - as a winger like KK. Put one on each wing, and everybody is happy ;)

  3. A funnier man than me once said

"Opinions are like arrisholes: We all have one."

    After reading through this thread, and the strong opinions (all valid) expressed therein, I got to thinking;

"What do I, as a Latics supporter, want from my (note the possesive) club?"

Years ago, when I was younger and more stupid than today, cresting on the wave, I'd have said

    "Tell mi Dad, mi Dad

    To pack the suitcases up

    We're going to Yo-u-rup

    Tell mi Dad, mi Dad"

    Nowadays, for me, it's less poetic, more straightforward, a 1,2,3; elements of which have been expressed by all on this thread;

    1. Security. My club is part of me, and the town. Security/survival comes first.

    2. Entertainment. It's footie, to be enjoyed.

    3. Progress. For too long, it's been 1 step forward, two steps back for Latics, and I'd assume everyone agrees this is a God-awful League. A return to our historic home of Division One (in old money) would boost the town, the club and the populus no end.

Those are my three hopes for Latics, but as stated at the start of the post, though we share the commonality of supporting Latics, opinions do differ. Mebbe someone more tech-savvy than me might want to start a poll. Would make interesting reading, for sure.

    Cheers,

  4. The NOW says his agent ( Dad ) has advised him to turn down 50K a week and has asked for 75K.

Kinda puts our likkle club in perspective, doesn't it? We lose more per month than he earns per week - all for kicking a pigskin full of air.

(Me, jealous, of course not, no, cough) The world of footie at the top has gone mad. Just hope he signs somewhere for a gazillion quid!

  5. No, didn't go to the game, what with it being several thousand miles away. Guess I'm not a real fan, then BB?

"Obviously never been to BP". Yes, well, of course you are right, sonny (rolls eyes).

Read my post again: I was commenting on the foul-mouthed idiots in the clip, wondering why people found it funny, and urging a bit of decorum. Seems like a waste of time now, though.

  6. No sand in my vagina, thank you very much, and no need for "Anger Management Sessions".

Was just commenting on the uncouthness of the Everton fans in the video, and the childish reactions of our own "super" fans to it. I'm all for celebrating but get irked by watching foul-mouthed scousers, whose every other word is XXXXX being posted, for the purpose of being "laffed" at by equal foulmouthed, know-it-all Latics fans is what, exactly?

Decorum in defeat and grace in victory is something you "lads" might sniff at, but it means a lot to wiser heads than yours, it seems.

Grow up, "lads", and learn to carry yourself with dignity. That's what our boys and men did on the field, and on the touchlines: and that's what you, if you want to be grown-ups, should do too: KTF and Grow up

  7. I've been in some rough parts of the world, but I do have to say I've never heard such a load of uncouth gobbyshyiting effing and blinding knobwit knuts in all my life. A real eye-opener. I hope that's just scouse idiocy. There's room for that kind of shyite at a football match but...

every XXXX other XXXXX phookin XXXXXX word XXXXXX that XXXXX comes XXXXXX out XXXXXXXX of XXXXXX that XXXXXX plebian's XXXXXXX mouth ...

    Is FXXXing disgusting.

Makes me sick, as do you morons laughing at it.

The lesson of today is to be gracious when we win - like Shez has been - as well as when one loses, like we all have been.

I don't know which to pity more - their idiots, or ours.

  8. AAAAAre WE Holland in disguise?

    Are we Holland?

    Are we Holland?

    ARRRRRRre WE HOLLAND IN DISGUISE????????

    (edited for dunkenness)

  9. The OP also asked who we thought would be pants but turned out well.

Well, off the top of my head, 3 players Dirty Leeds thought were pants are

    Deeeeennnnis Irwin

    Andy Linighan

    Andy Ritchie

3 players Man City thought were pants:

    Paul Warhurst

    Earl Barratt

    Rodge the Dodge

All 'rejects' as it were, but became legends at Latics.

Can anyone figure out how much in total we forked out for just these six? Couldn't be more than 100k could it?
