  1. I read the Evans website and he still sounds guilty to me, from his own account.

Before that, I knew the gist of the case but no details. This is not the time and place to discuss the things I think suggest guilt.

I signed the petition, and I don't go to the games for obvious reasons, but I probably put as much money into the club than most supporters that do attend. My opinion is no less valid.

  2. He should have gone a long time ago. If the trust was stronger (and this is not a criticism of the men and women who give up their time for the trust, for which as a fan I appreciate), then he would have been voted out a long time ago.

Once it was clear he was working for SC, that creates a conflict of interest and he should have gone.

Also, I think he had the role of chairman of the fans trust wrong. Surely this role should be to advise the club of the fans wishes and inform the fans of the directions the club is taking. Barry seemed to try to manage the role as an MP would, I have been elected by the people so that means I make all decisions on the fans behalf. That is not the way this role should be run.

  3. I for one will not be sad he has gone if true. To be honest, the club was gone for me anyway when they looked certain to sign Evans. At least this way I can still support the club I love for as long as it lasts (possibly not long though)

I don't condone the threats being made to Simon and his family. I hope the catch the person or people responsible.

  4. Could not agree more Rummy.

There are only two real conclusions you can draw. Either you think he has served his time and now he should be free to play football for whoever wants him, or you think a convicted rapist shouldn't be signed by your club (or possibly any club depending on your views).

How anyone can say anything about him possibly being innocent baffles me. A jury found him guilty, this judgment from the jury has been looked at and found to be just. That means he is guilty by the laws of the land. I am assuming nobody here was there when it happened, or was in the court during the whole trial.

For me, it can only damage team moral, piss off a hell of a lot of supporters (me included), and there is a big chance he would be crap now anyway when you take into account the time out of the game and his mental state.

If we sign him now I would be amazed, and will walk away from the club until Corney is gone - not just Evans.

  5. We are not talking about what may happen in the future, we are talking about what did happen and what is happening right now. We did meet with Evans on Wednesday night, according to reports, and pretty much all the tabloids are all over this story. We are not being shown in a good light, and Bristolowl is right - we do not need this crap now. Things are going well for us, the best for many a season.

If we did not meet with a convicted rapist, then the club need to come out and deny it - not give a no comment response.

Whoever is involved in this at the club wants their heads reading.

  6. Did duck egg for Newcastle last season in A League. Be a step backward IMHO. Pull a middle aged fat bloke from the crowd and put him on £5,000 a week and you would get better value for money.

Well it would be a pay cut for me, but I'm willing to step up for the mighty Latics

  7. Take this however you want to. I spoke to another Aussie player today who knows I am a latics fan. He brought up weso and said we offered him much lower terms than his expiring contract and asked are we going bad again.

I was amazed how much this guy knew about oldham, even that he knew we nearly went under before.

Apparently he uses the same agents as weso.

Maybe we knew he wasn't going to sign a new contract with us, so we offered him crap just to keep face with the fans.

Maybe we were overpaying him previously, and LJ thought the money could be better spent.

Maybe weso's agent talks bull:censored: to their other clients.

I know how much you guys love these "my best friend's dog heard from a well connected source" stories, so flame away if you must.

  8. Don't really care where he has gone. When you leave Oldham, what does it matter where they goes or for what reason.

Sounds like we didn't want to offer him what he could get elsewhere.

Just glad he won't be scoring against us in the league next season, as all ex players we come up against seem to.
