  1. We don't win and out come the same old posts of "not good enough", "wont make the play offs" etc.

We got a point away against a team that had won 4 out of the last 5. I'd have loved 3 points - but we didn't get them and still moved up a place. Of course it's tight but live with it!

thats because we are capable of playing much much better so its frustrating

  2. Latics reserves lost 4-1 (Whitaker) at Bolton tonight in the Manchester Senior Cup.

    Report

this scoreline flatters bolton, its a real shame we had lots of possession and made some decent chances but a few players let themseves down, the two up front couldn,t hold the ball up whits and lids{apart from the goal}didn,t do much and stephens had a nightmare.on a positive note lee played really well but lack of football showing in soe of them.

  3. If we don't get a 'keeper in tomorrow, Josh Bell has to play. It is inconceivable that Windass would be in net because it would be calamitous for Sheridan if we get hammered and it would surely put Bell's career off track following such a kick in the teeth.

My little nit-pick is, I wish Sheridan had not publicly stated that he didn't think Bell was ready. There is no reason why he couldn't tell the lad in private and he probably has explained it to him. But, if he has to play tomorrow, he plays knowing that Sheridan thinks he's incapable and the fans know that Sheridan feels this way. Not good, confidence-wise.

Hopefully, he would step up to the mark and do himself proud and Sheridan makes sure the defence play out of their skins to protect him. No stupid back-passes and plenty of communication. Meanwhile, the rest of the team defends from the front by laying siege to the Cobblers' goal.

    :)

fair point with your nit-pick,if the lad does play he has the added pressure of knowing shez doesn,t think he should be

  4. Cant believe we are talking about loanees.....It has to be JOSH BELL for 1 game, dont use our budget save it for a more required position...what does Josh do at the club, full time goalkeeper warmer upper on saturdays....USE HIM saturday

shez said on lw he doesn,t think bell is ready,he also said lomax is the one that would have gone in if he was playing

  5. Well Done Oldham! Well Done Windass!!!

I thought Sean Gregan was fantastic! and was the real man of the match...

Every player tonight played brilliant... Ref was a joke... Clear pen for Taylor...

agreed very good performance all round, only worry we can,t score lately and we could and probably should have let 3 in today

  6. It should.

Crossley - unlikely to play next season

Lomax - not suitable to play at a higher level

Gregan - is hi contract at an end in May? Not sure it will be renewed - especially if he isn't driving then.

Liddell - looks like his last season too.

Whitaker - may know he isn't good enough

Taylor - appears to have been genuinely affected by transfer speculation

    Hughes - ditto

Windass - doubt he'll be here next season

Eardley, Alessandra, Maher, Smalley, Stam, Lee not getting good runs in the team.

This leaves Fleming, Hazell and Allott who have it all to play for - hopefully to be joined by Hughes and Taylor.

So we've only had 3 players genuinely motivated by promotion on the pitch for the last few games.

good point, never thought of ot like that

  7. Fifty years ago today, 22 year old Buddy Holly died in a plane crash, along with the pilot, 17 year old Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper. Although his music career only lasted eighteen months, Buddy Holly has had a great influence on popular music. His death was referred to in Don McLean’s ‘American Pie’ as “the day the music died”.

He left behind many recordings that were released posthumously, and he soon attained legendary stature and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

  8. i subscribe to latics world and i dont remember shez ever saying that in any of the papers, lee played twice this season, i didnt go to crewe but i was at the home afterwards(lee played twice this season) and was :censored: at home

jslatics post is spot on.. people (posters on here) put words in sheridans mouth to back up there :censored: arguments.

change to my post above, durig interview on 26.12 away day win,he,s not playing for man utd anymore, totally different game with oldham he has to get used to the way this league is. interview 3.1 09 after talking about not taking care of the, if he was on he probably would have taken care of the ball its one of his strenghs

okay so not exactly as i said in earlier post but means the same thing.lee may not be the answer but at least we could try,and for you to say he was :censored: at home he was no worse than anyone else that day plus 2 games in 2 days is lot when your not match fit

  9. i subscribe to latics world and i dont remember shez ever saying that in any of the papers, lee played twice this season, i didnt go to crewe but i was at the home afterwards(lee played twice this season) and was :censored: at home

if you subscribe to latics world look back on his interviews and you will hear them exact words,i,m not in the habbit of posting lies

  10. today was poor, but we didnt lose.

i subscribe to the midfield debate, i think we need someone else in there (imo whittaker not the answer)

but i have read on here for months, why hasnt lee/stephens been given the chance blah blah blah

    so you tell me..............

lee EX i repeat EX man utd RESERVE

stephens 6 i repeat 6 apperances for bury

so why should they make a diiference?

have you seen them play? train? on the piss in the pub? know a friend who knows them? know a friend of a friend who walked their dog?

    TELL ME.........

if you cant then shut the f**k up.......its boring

you make it sound like nothing to be a utd reserve,do you not realise how hard it would be to get that far at a club who can bring in whoever they want, yes i do know the lad and have seen him play many times,he is a good player, very good, and the reasons why he is not there now are nothing to do with his football,he said no to fergie over something and was out at the end of that season.all that has nothing to with it ,our midfield isn,t working so surely give him a chance granted it may take a few games to build match fitness and confidence back up but at least we would have tried if it doesn,t work it doesn,t it would put a stop to all this.

  11.

I'm getting hacked off with all you Sheridan haters coming on to the site whenever we don't win a match, asking for his head.

Did any of you actually go today? There was only one team trying to win - us. It just was one of those games.

Sheridan, (IMO) is trying to play a decent style of football whilst trying to get us out of the League One. The problem he has is that most of the team aren't good enough to play the type of football he wants, yet, we are almost there. Also, the reason why most of the players we have are in league one is because they are not good enough at a higher level - the boss will (and is trying to) improve their game, which, I believe he is doing. The only issue is it will take a time. What will and is happening is that we are bringing through decent young players which are the future of our club.

For all I know we might be top of the league if we still had Ronnie Moore as manager however, I wouldn't want to watch his style of football and for me, isn't the correct way bringing youth players into the side as they won't learn the game properaly.

Will we go up this season automatically? Probably not, you have to realise teams such as Leicester and MK Dons have bigger resources and even fan base (MK Dons average over 7k each game and stadium is over 30k capacity).

Will we reach the play offs and maybe go to Wembley? Maybe, but even if we don't reach the play off I'm still behind the gaffer. He wants our team to play football the correct way. Don't forget it was Sheridan that won the reserve league when Ronnie was in charge, playing most of our youth players (Smalley, Alessander, Scott Spencer) etc. He brought them through and for me, and as I said before, are our future.

So PLEASE, either get behind what the team and the boss with what he is trying to do or don't bother turning up. The younger players aren't going to make it playing the correct way if they have their own fans shouting at them!!

SHEZ TO STAY, crap fans to go!

I will now expect the same fickle response of "I pay so I'll do whatever I want etc".....

what i found on here last night was mainly anger that shez had said that performance was good enough,it clearly wasn,t good enough and as for the booing no its not nice but how else can fans show the depth of there feelings, personally i would prefer silence to booing as i think in the long run it would have more effect with players walking off to a silent crowd after a poor performance.

  12. I wish people would stop putting words in his mouth. Where has he said after the game today that he's made changes? Where did he say it after Scunthorpe? He didn't. People are pretending Shez has said stuff and then working themselves up about their own little fantasies.

Some need to give up on this Stephens rubbish. The club said when they signed him that he was one for the future and wouldn't be rushed into the first team. If he's not ready, then he's not ready. He hasn't done anything wrong, but FFS, he's a kid, and clearly the management don't just want to throw him in there. Maher: well Allott is a shoe-in most weeks and rightfully so. Shez then makes his decision between Whits and Kev...but Kev's also had a fair crack of the whip this season. And for what it's worth...no, we don't know what Lee's doing wrong in training, but we don't know what he's doing right. Shez sees these guys every day...and if he thinks Lee's not doing the business in training, then IMO he's not doing the business in training. Unless you go to each training session and can tell me differently?

If he wants to have a go at the fans he's more than welcome to. Some of the comments on here have been absolutely ridiculous...we're 6th in the bloody league and have lost just 1 in 21 at BP. That's not a bad record...in fact there's 18 other teams in this division who would rather be where we are. If Shez is subjected to the abuse that he is on here in person from the idiots behind him in the Main Stand then let him. After all, he's only human...if they want to have a go at him because they've paid their money to then fine. But don't be surprised when a man fed up to the back teeth of being abused for managing a team, with a decent home record and occupying a playoff spot, snaps and gives it large back. You'd do the same.

accordin to shez in his interview after one of lee,s games he said lee has to learn to play the oldham way?then in an interview after lee had been dropped he said we might have took care of the ball better if lee had been on,so whats he saying i don,t understand

  13. Taylors mind seems to be some place at the moment too, maybe he thinks he might be on his way out of the club which he does not want to do. After all he is playing for the club he supports and loves and not many people get the chance he has.

but didn,t shez say no club had come in for him,so whats he worried about or are we just making excuses for him because he been off form for weeks

  14. i've been goin to the tics now for 15 yrs and this club has always suffered a complete lack of motivation and ambition, this forum just goes to comfirm that most of it comes from the stands. Footy fans want brazil type winning football week on week and it never going to happen in oldham, Keep the faith , Love your club win or lose, playing well or bad its like a marrige granted sometimes a bad one GET USED TO IT

don,t know about brazil type, but when you see your team giving everything for each other its easy to put it behind you if you lose and look forward to next week, but when you see this can,t be arsed attitude then you to where we are now imo

  15. I personnally like Sheridan, but it's time he started to mix things up, he keeps on saying how he is going to change things, but every game its the same 11 give or take Eardley, Lomax or the new Left Back.

We have Kieron Lee who never plays, Dale Stevens sat in the stand every week, why not give them a chance in Midfield because thats where our problems have stemmed from since day 1.

totally agree deffo time for a change
