  1. Against Hyde United in Pre Season I thought Haining was head and shoulders above everyone else for us. I was hoping Penny would sign him.
  2. “The more support we have, the more it will help the club’s financial situation.” i.e. Give us yer money!!!
  3. Hi IsleOfWightBlue, Thanks for your post. Do you think the proposed move will affect your enthusiasm to take the trip up to watch a game if the team no longer played at Boundary Park?
  4. You don't become a former customer as soon as the transaction has taken place. You are not a former customer of Tesco when you step out of the store. Until Oldham Athletic is no longer in your thoughts when making a purchasing decision, i.e. a football shirt, you are still a customer. If this club dosent mobilise its customers into purchasing its products soon it is finished no matter how many "real fans" there are. Current options in progress or being discussed on this message board to influence product sales are: Move the location of a product to Failsworth Increase the quality of the product by changing the manager os the players Reduce the prices of the products
  5. Great post and my thoughts exactly. Guilt tripping people into doubting whether they are real fans or not is markting suicide.
  6. You are right Frankly Mr Shankly. I think fans, real or otherwise, are expected to ignore the fact that the club is a business until it suits the owners or their representatives to remind us. Going back to the original quote… “the real fans stick through the bad times as well as the good.” Supporting Oldham Athletic is a hobby I am passionate about it is not however my (bloody) family. I don’t have to stick with them through the bad times as well as the good. You wouldn’t keep going to a rubbish concert because a band used to be good but you might go back if they released a great new album. “Keep coming to my gigs, I know I’m rubbish now but I promise I will be good again in 10 years” D Bowie (1987) As if…
  7. With Manchester City's ground only 2 miles from the proposed new Failsworth ground, match tickets around £10 dearer than current BP prices and the spectacle on the COM stadium pitch more entertaining than Oldham currently provide it would be hard to argue against a logical shift in entertainment provider. Are there any logical football fans?
  8. Thank you for your reply oafc000 I’ve been what I consider to be a real fan 20 years and haven't had the heart to go this season. I don't mind being called a customer however as a customer of this business I am becoming disenfranchised with their brand.
  9. Following on from the "Getting Real" thread... “the real fans stick through the bad times as well as the good.” B. Owen (2010) What constitutes a "real fan"? The amount of money the fan spends with the club multiplied by The amount of games fan attends divided by The length of time they have been a fan = real fan rating? There is no way to define a real fan but change the word fan(s) to the word sucker(s) and that’s how I personally feel at the moment.
  10. I think it will end similarly to this but with BP sold for housing and us moving in with Rochdale for a few seasons until the Failsworth deal finally falls through and then we become homeless.
  11. Yes, sorry, that was my point, they are two very different questions.
  12. Is the question should we move from Boundary park or is the question should we move to Failsworth? A move from BP Im not too bothered about but I don't want to see the team I support move to Failsworth.
  13. How did the nob in pink manage to tarnish it? I thought the day went off without incident.
