  1. We believe that the charity being supported is appropriate and very worthy

Did I say it wasn't? Nope don't think so. It is very worthy, if I'd wanted to query the charity I would have done.

I merely said it would have been a nice gesture to donate a "proportion" to a charity linked with the man who's name is writ loud on the flag, thats all. It seems logical to me.

  2. Brilliant Andy, hats off to you chaps for all the hard work and effort on your own time over the last 12 months, as you know I know how time consuming things like Factor50 can be. It is to be hoped that the research team can make a breakthrough so that people don't succumb to this terrible condition like Ernie did.

Which brings me to my next point, and I know its been mentioned elsewhere, and for that slapped down with knickers in a twist gusto but wouldn't it have been nice if the chaps doing this 92 grounds thingy could have donated a proportion of funds raised to Factor50, bearing in mind they'll be waving that Ernie flag, the juxtaposition of the two seems to me to make it an obvious idea.

  3. Oh yes of course I remember now it was Striped Tripe... that's the one, self confessed loony of the highest order who actually contributes to members websites using a number of user names, therefore enabling him to reply to/answer/agree/disagree with himself.... and has the nerve to suggest someone else is .... erm ?.... loony

I remembered when I were driving earlier, ""Anotherangle""!

Anyone who remembers you sunshine will realise my initial description was spot on, although I could have said barking mad or bonkers, but loony will suffice.

Still parping on with the same old tosh, yes I have 27 usernames on this site alone, the admin on here give me special dispensation because I'm special needs!

  4. I tuned into this thread thinking there was something funny in it.

Alas no its just about a former player. Not a very good one admittedly, just one getting a P45, wow hilarious!

Seriously, he played for us he moved on, perhaps its time to that ourselves eh, move on?

  5. He said he's been offered top jobs here and elsewhere and they've never appealed to him. However if he was to be in charge of the ressies and work with the first in a Dux/Tommy type role I think he could provide a much more effective link between the first and youth setups which has been lacking for the last three years (wink wink nudge nudge).

    Interesting.

Mr Penny says he knows TP from their days at Cardiff, so lets hope this happens eh.

  6. Must say I've always like the cut of his jib when I've seen him at youth games, the way he talks to the players and the way he obviously expects them to conduct themselves is top notch, but then Shez was quite similar when he looked after the youth team. Did he say he like more involvement because its always been said, himself included, that he's doing what he really wants to do, bringing young players through.

  7. Manager aside, I think that we have consistently put out sides that have been badly prepared for the last few years. Other teams of far less ability have looked twice as good as us, with players playing to their strengths using simple pass and play systems.

We have looked like a shambles, winning due to individual flashes of brilliaince from the likes of Hughes and Taylor.

Lets hope that we get a good coach who can create a system of playing that is replicated in the reserves and put into practise in the first team.

Lets be honest Alec by October you'll have already decided, not matter how well he's doing, that he doesn't quite come up to your exacting standards and henceforth will snipe at him on an intermittent and totally irrational basis.

  8. Well it's not my decision hence why I stated that this was simply my unprofessional arm chair opinion, but I would have appointed (if he'd have had us with the right deal) Ian Holloway.*

*And yes I know he was relegeted with Leicester

Thanks to the gods of football you're not in a position to make the appointment then.

We didn't need the village idiot as manager.

  9. Translation: only Stipe Tripe and his mates/approved posters are allowed to express disquiet and dissatisfaction at what's going on at BP.

    What Pete said!

And I do know one or two on here, by sight to say hello to thats all, and some because they've been posting since the days JK Latics was on Inside the Web 10 years ago, wouldn't know FMS or Latics Pete if I fell over them.

Funny how people like you always resort to stuff like "only Stipe Tripe and his mates/approved posters are allowed to express......", very sad.

  10. I used to play footie with his brother who got a few trials for football teams despite him being crap. I also knew his dad to say hello to. I was never aware of Mark hating us with a passion myself and not sure why he would.

The clue is in what Mr Punkyster wrote

"why?...i don't know, but he personally told me back in the bluebell on broadway days.

did he get rejected as a youngster??"

I've seen a few Latics this morning and the reaction to Robbins arriving at BP has been the same, unsolicited, unprompted and all the same opinion of the little get.

  11. Quite like the thought of Andy Holden, being ahem groomed at Everton, seemed to have worked for Alan Irvine.

Somebody said yesterday that he wouldn't take any BS and if he managed like he played wouldn't accept any slackers either.#

    # he only played briefly for us because of injury but was totally committed, anybody who saw his performance at Stamford Bridge (gulp 20 years ago it seems after consulting Soccerbase) in our 2-2 in the pishing rain will know what I mean. Dragging all the players down to our sodden corner 2 miles from the pitch in them days celebrating like we'd won the Cup, happy days.

  12. the little :censored: hates oldham athletic passionately.

    so i'll hate him.

why?...i don't know, but he personally told me back in the bluebell on broadway days.

did he get rejected as a youngster??

    he can :censored: right off.

    he turns up,i won't.

Exactly the little :censored: despises Latics and has made no secret of it, if TTA appoint this odious little turd they can :censored: right off!

  13. Whatt!!!???

FMS has said quite a few things but didn't bang on about your sole position - a diminishing base leading to oblivion (excuse the paraphrase). And you have never said that you'll be looking forward to a new season after a break.

You've never been so arrogant before.....

Yup the tone of FMS's posting is totally different.

What a surprise Corp read it differently, or chose to.

  14. Aye, I could have gone on easily, but toothache stopped me in my tracks.

I think with a new man on board, 3 months rest from it and a new season ticket I'll be ready for the new season again. No worries.

Depends who the new man is!

But yes three months off and with a new ST in me grubby mits it'll definitely be a new season, whether I'll be ready for it is another matter.

  15. Me too.

I think I'm just a bit sick and tired of football now. In a way I'm glad Joe doesn't get the job permanently, because I don't want his name sullied with failure. It keeps my memories untarnished, and I think pruning the squad was what's needed because our next manager gets a clean slate to play with.

    But I'm sick of rumours

    I'm sick of speculation

I'm sick of fans calling for someones head on a pike when something minor goes wrong.

    I'm sick of kneejerk reactions

    I'm sick of Division 3

I'm sick of players taking the piss out of the people who pay their wages.

I'm sick of football in general right now. Everything about it just stinks for me.

I want the summer to come and give me a 3 month break from it all.

    You should have also said

I'm sick of thinking well that was an utter waste of a Saturday afternoon / Tuesday night.

But nail on head FMS, nail firmly on head.

  16. Haha. All true.

I know you don't have to buy one like, but I'll reckon most of us, erm, cheapskates renewed, and even with the extra RRE discount would have been paying £80 more at least. It weren't a moan, just an observation really on decisions made like making it a 3 sided affair with clear lack of atmosphere. I mean, it were hardly like La Bombonera when it was up, were it?

Not a moan, an observational moan! [stupid winky thing]

BP has never, other than on a mind numbingly tiny proportion of occasions over the last 33 years of my attendance trembled let alone beat, 3 or 4 sides.

I saw talk last week that we've never been so badly off for (home) crowds, well let me say that the only tremble we got in the mid 80's at times (couple of home games in the old division 2 getting 2500ish and just 2800 one night for the visit of Middleborough!) was some flatulent oaf letting go with gusto at the back of the Chaddy. I'd say the vast majority of my years trudging to BP has witnessed a distinct lack of atmosphere. Thats the thing tho' we remember the times when it was good, expunge the rest. What this has to do with anything I dunno and I don't care.

  17. don't care

I have no objection to the post/replies. Something to talk about and all that. But I think the problem with many Latics fans is we hate other teams more than we love Oldham.

We sing about Manure/Yorkshire/Citeh/whoever as much as we sing about Oldham. We have constant threads about Porter/Hughes/Wellens/Kilkenny/whoever. We moan about how crap our players are and then moan we release them and then moan they do well elsewhere and then moan they were never that good for us and then moan they should never have gone in the first place.

I'm not a superfan, I'm not a happyclapper, I'm not a doomandgloomer. I'm an Oldham fan and I care about Oldham players and I support Oldham players. I don't hate ManU. I don't hate Leeds. I don't hate anyone really, too much energy wasted.

    Absolutely bob on.

  18. The hundreds of folk with £220 season tickets then had to buy more expensive ones, at £80-£100 more.

Firstly you didn't have to buy one!

Secondly serves y'all right for being cheapskates in the first place,

Thirdly anybody who moved to the RRE got an extra discount on what it cost me fer my ticket, so skarrrrrrrrrrrrooooooowwwwwwwwww you! [do I really need to add a stupid winky thing here?]
