alessandra can go out on loan and get a few goals and his confidence up, do him the world of good. Smalley was great the last 10 games last year and really looked like pushing on, he'd be starting for me every week barring a poor run of form, he got his first game in 2 months on tuesday and finally confirmed what i have been saying to you all, pace on BOTH wings, not a pointer and 10 men. He needs games yes, but HERE, games = confidence. Will shez do it?

come on then eardley fans - how the hell has he improved over the last 18 months? which areas of his game? how else would you eradicate his problem area of positioning...? by standing off even further??

You guys make me laugh, how anyone can rate this guy is amazing. granted he isnt the worst right back we've had, but id rate him at 100K and on a par with scott mcniven. he too had pace but couldnt defend or pass the ball properly.

I echo johnnypunksters views entirely.

if you stay close to your man he cant turn you - simple. You can anticipate the guy turning you by watching where the ball is going and thinking quicker and cutting it out before he gets the ball or gets to where it is going.

eardley gets the abuse because the mistakes he makes are simple basic rules of football, that quite frankly a supposed 'professional' shouldn't get wrong. Hes not young now he is 20/21 and has a large level of experience behind him. Gregan hardly makes any errors, he is at least consistent in what he does and you know what you are going to get. Things like basic positioning, simple close range passes, and putting a cross on someones head when having time and space to pick them out are all basics that quite frankly at his stage he should be consistently performing well in.

He isn't improving though and cutting out the sloppyness from his games - this is what fans (and myself) get angry about, the fact that he can and has shown on occassions like last season that he can be and do better than he is doing.

He should be improving his game not letting it deteriorate with sloppy basic football errors. If it was me getting abuse id think to myself right, im going to start playing properly, improve and stop making mistakes that way winning people over and becoming a better player.

sadly this doesnt seem to be happening in recent weeks, so either he looks at himself and improves his game and removes his somewhat arrogant play of the pitch like standing way off his man thinking 'cos hes an international he'll be able to catch him up' rubbish and start putting in a committed shift.

not a go at eardley, just how i see it as a fact of his current displays, technically he isnt doing his job properly, certainly not tonight, and therefore in the real world after 2 or 3 poor performances he may have been 'sacked', i honestly cant seeing him getting better in the future than from what he is now, that is down to him.

so barring taylor, absolutely no pace from midfield ye great team, and 10 men with pointer. liddell and maher get shut, both give the team nothing, get smalley and lee in to support the old lads up top for gods sake,! do people not see it?! (and shez for that matter)

yes its called playing lads with pace to win the ball then get us going forward, we do need it you know...

think he'll do well - IF GIVEN THE SERVICE (ahmm midfield ahmm), he'll at least hold it up and bring others into play as well as turning and just smacking the damn thing like we never do, and he takes a few mean free kicks. I'm sure that if the midfield arent giving him service he'll soon let them know about it!

If you listen to a few internet interviews hes done he sounds a really nice bloke, yes i know he has done some stupid and dirty things on the pitch, but so has gregan and we all (i presume) see him as a decent bloke, windass is just a big softie - literally.

tell taylor and smalley to interchange during games to worry the opposition, lee stays there as the creative mid then have allott there when back or maher if you must. I think with lee and smalley in there it will help byfield to get in the box more as he has more service from the flanks, but as has been said i wouldn't grumble if lewi is given a second run, but the midfield needs to be as above otherwise we aint goin anywhere sorry shez!

haha liddell's crosses very rarely beat the first man ala eardley, and any crosses he does do are from halfway line, which says it all.

You dont see leicester, MK Dons or p'boro with a 35yr old on the wing do you... cant believe smalley isnt getting/hasn't had a good run in the side yet. Give teams 2 wings to worry about instead of one.

just dont see the benefit at all of liddle being at the club any more, never mind on the pitch. (but im missing the point aren't i - he is the only one who can take a penalty, which, when scored, keeps him in the team for the next 3 weeks at least)

exactly - last season he looked superb towards the end, i was under the impression he would start rw this term and get a good run in the side, but no we have pointer ahead of him and therefore have 10 men every week.

beckham doesnt play for england any more not because he cant pass a ball but because his legs have gone, i could understand liddle playing if he gave us something barring a penalty like eyresy did - you always knew he could whip a cross over and pass the ball well - but AL is finished and its time we looked more of a threat with 2 quick wingers.

This is what i and many others are saying, the players are here, just not the manager with any notion of what an attacking team should look like unfortunately.

i know he isnt great defensively but he would be there with allott and able to pass and keep the ball moving and offer the team more going forward as he could break now and again through the middle.

likewise myself, just going off the linked post re hughes, comments of 'best ever offered' contract and information from someone with inside info regarding liddell. I dont profess the stated figures as nailed on 100% true! just what has been said/ive been told.

According to the above post! I can well believe it being 4k as I believe Liddell was definately on 3k a week on his previous 3yr deal. 4k a week standard salary plus appearance, goal and win bonus money would make up a tidy pay packet, based on yesterdays showing from him i doubt many if any clubs will be willing to gamble on a 32yr old on 4k a week..

If he stays great, if he goes it will be a loss no doubts about it but we will move on.. Its the service to him thats crap though thats the problem otherwise he would have a bag full... However, deep down if im honest he isnt brilliant, just great for our league and maybe if he stayed, a few additions and we go up he'd get 10-15 in the champ next year.

did you not see the runs lee made inside and around the strikers like midfielders should do?? as to be not so predictable?? Plus, bare in mind thats lee's first 2 games of the season in the space of 3 days, so not yet fully match fit and is also a CM firstly not a RM.

no, that performance from lee was far better for the team than ten men, what with 'pointer' on halfway all game

ive been saying all season he gives us nothing, if you knew you were going to get a good cross from him ala eyresy then i could understand him playing but christ sake he offers NOTHING but a penalty.

Lee was the best player on the pitch, we have the ascendancy in the game, ok if lee is tired bring smalley on for pace but LIDDELL??!!! all the play stopped when 'pointer' came on.

GLAD hes set the record straight regarding Hughes, i dont think it sounded like he was offskis at all, basically we will make him a very good offer and its up to Lee, if he wants to leave then so be it but i would see it as half a slap in the face if he does.

Guess we'll see come jan.

Thats just it COME OUT AND TELL US if he doesnt want to sign a new deal then we all know where everyone stands and accepting an offer based on him not wanting to sign is acceptable. Instead we're stuck with hes not being offered a deal/tta want to sell/done deal to donny etc. Driving me nuts!!

And yes we are kissing goodbye to promotion by selling Hughes. We got him for nowt if he left for nowt at the end of the year then at least we'd know hes given us a fair chance of promotion, if we go up we benefit financially and the 300k is outweighed by greater champ income, we go up he leaves for more money - fair enough hes got us up, or we dont go up and he fairly leaves for a higher league - again cant argue with it.

But you dont throw your best chance of promotion away for the sake of 300k, sorry.
