  1. We were beat when I saw that line up. We must be an absolute dream to play against. Concede so much space, sit back. A midfield with very little creativity. No pace on the counter.

Everything wrong there. Take the game to them, have a go! They’ve been in absolute turmoil and we’ve rocked up there with a back 5 like a side scrapping for a point in a relegation scrap.

His pragmatic, dull negative mindset needs to f*ck off as much as our central midfield of Shelton and sheron. Sign a right back too instead of leaving a young cb out to dry there.

  2. The 05/06 season under Ronnie Moore.

It would be 9 years before I bought another season ticket after watching that total and utter dross hoofball he had us playing. I remember coming away from games seething at the :censored: I'd just witnessed even after we'd won! My heart was no longer in watching us, I started going to more aways than home games as at least it was a good day out, and eventually these became less frequent. I went from being a 30 game a season fan to one that went to about 6 to 8 home games a year. Shez started the love affair again, but It was only really last season when I started going to all the home games again and a good number of aways, and this year I have a season ticket once more.

Basically Ronnie Moore nearly made me fall out of love with Latics, I hate that scouse t**t.

This is exactly how the Dave Penney season made me. I have never seen such negative :censored:e. We even seemed to play for a 0-0 in a first round Fa cup game against Leeds. Even when we went 1 down we had no urgency or attacking intent.

Penney made me fall out of love with Latics and sadly unlike you it's never really returned. Once you stop going every week it's hard to get back into it.

  3. Another Dickov-ism. The similarities between the two of them is quite unbelievable. We managed to get a good 6 months out of Dickov though.

The issue of next seasons team is one that irks me because when the season started, I watched on at Stevenage with a great deal of excitement for the season ahead. The line up was Oxley, Brown, Tarkowski, Grounds, Mellor, Dayton, Smith, Baxter, Montano, MacDonald, Rooney. With the exciting Clarke-Harris and Schmeltz coming on from the bench, and experienced clogger Byrne seeing the game out. The whole gameplan was to play out from the back, and use the wingers pace and trickery to supply chances to the goal poacher MacDonald and reliable 1 in 3 Rooney.

Against Tranmere yesterday, There was no Tarkowski, sold for a pittance, no Baxter, sold for a pittance, No Montano (which isn't LJ's fault) and no Rooney, released before he ever really got going.

Clarke-Harris hasn't improved to the level we all hoped, Schmeltz is another who has been let go prematurely too, and Byrne has been replaced by another aging clogger, we may as well have kept him, who was doubling up as coach and also liked being around the place, and someone the other players looked up to.

The decision to release Rooney was an awful one, the lad should at least have been given a full season and now Aberdeen are reaping the goalscoring rewards.

What has happened? Why has LJ had a 'Dickov moment' and bottled his gameplan? What happened to due diligence on signings and them being well thought out? I don't recognise the team now, it has been littered with loans and short term deals, Lockwood, Worrall, Harkins, Dunfield, Stead, Kissock,,Turner, Wilson, while he's binned off new signings from the summer after 6 months. The football is also awful, everyone raved how good it was to watch us, we were always the better side but we just couldn't win (a comment that always made me chuckle) now we still don't win but the football is shocking, we were awful against both Bristol City and Gillingham, it was penny-esque.

I still think we'll go down, which could be positive if it means Johnson getting the boot, i'd then like to see a mixture of young vibrant players with a sprinkle of older heads. And i'd like to see a return of the 'pretty football' that was so enjoyable in August and September.

And just to update, we have now only won 4 out of 17 in the league, and our next few fixtures are Preston, Rotherham, Crewe, Crawley, Orient and Brentford. I can see one win against Crawley and one draw against Crewe. Relegation form.

    Absolutely bang on

  4. Did ok for them, scored a massive brace for 'us' v Scunny or maybe it was against Yeovil on the final day. Seems to know where the net is and a young kid that is doing that is an asset imo.

Hope we can get the lad Worrall too, the last couple we've had from Bury haven't been too shoddy. (Armstrong, Porter and Stephens) Well that's three but yer what I mean...

Worrall apparently already signed for Dale.

  5. I got to the ground at 2.35 queuing up hardly last minute. I know from the moment I got there we weren't getting in. Queues like that must have formed for about an hour or so, for bury/the police not to react and put some sort of plan in place when our stand was "full" is laughable. I asked one police officer why we couldn't be put in another stand. Her answer "the whole ground is full to capacity" absolute jokers. Even more so given that bury are apparently crying out for money,

  6. Seen nothing tonight to be afraid of.

Truly is a piss poor League One this year.

    Is it saturday yet?

Exactly why it's even more frustrating best chance get out of this league for ages, yet it looks more likely the way we'll get out of the league this season is relegation.

  7. One thing I feel we clearly lack is athleticism in terms of real strength, height, pace and aggression.

I think we are good technically and when not lumping it forward to Smith can keep it neat and tidy knocking it around along the floor, but we are just too laboured when bringing the ball forward. It would be great to have some real pace up top and someone in the middle of the park who could bring the ball forward at speed.

I thought there was very little between us and Tranmere but when they broke from defence, they did so at speed and in numbers and it was very effective.

Everyone says with these players we should be higher up the league but while individually most of them should be playing at this level, as a team I think they will always struggle.

For aslong as i've watched Latics we have in the main lacked pace. Every team apart from the Dowie season with Wayne Andrews and when he was ever fit Josh Low. FFS when Craig Dudley tipped up he was the quickest player i'd seen in a Latics shirt in a while even with his asthma.
