  1. To me, it's a matter of chicken and egg.

I have enough crap organisations in my life (I work for the NHS) to try and change from within. I do it all day every day, and can not do it in my personal time without heading straight for a nervous breakdown.

I feel the Trust has lost its way (that is how it looks from the outside), so I have no desire to get involved. I doubt I'm the only one who feels that way. I can imagine the reason there are only 7 directors now is because of the feelings of hopelessness. Hopelessness is often caused by poor leadership.

If the Trust appeared better run, and in better shape to the people looking in from the outside, I expect many more people would be willing to give up their time to get involved - but how does that happen without new people getting involved?

Couldn't have put it better if i were a ghost writer for a director of the club myself

  2. Anyone else bothered by the casual homophobia in the thread title?

Get a bleedin life mate, what's up with describing somewhere as a 'happy farm'!!!!

What's homophobia when it's at home

You need to get out more, i ain't got a problem with gay people, one of my boyfriends is one

Don't look for :censored: when there ain't any to find

  3. You haven't filled it since we got promoted from Division 2. You may have done the season we were relegated, but wasn't it the last day of the season and you needed a result to make the Play Offs? (Hazy memory).

We might have bought a few poor attendances but we did so when we were managerless, or under Ritchie and Ternent... pretty similar situation to you last season. Noone wants to spend their weekend/evening watching a club that has no prospect of getting anywhere at a ground that they've visited numerous times.

    That's a yes then

  4. :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

    brilliant!

Quality interview, really shocked when i heard his cockerny accent geezer

Spoke really well and seems a right character, he'll bring a lot to the club both on and off the field. Seems like he needs a good run at a club to get him back to whatever it was Chelsea saw in him, probably a lot more of his first half performance on Saturday.

Could have a real cracker on our hands, get him signed up before Clarke comes a sniffing!!!

  5. I was there that day, Barnsley were having a bad time back then and average gates were around 4,000 there! There was actually 12,000 or there abouts if I remember right! Biggest awayday I remember, just beating the confirmed 7,000 we took to Leeds in the playoffs in 1987!

I was there too, didn't we play them again the following year in the cup?

Remember Milligan scoring and 1-1? Memory is :censored: though

  6. Was having a little 'debate' with some old timer Hudders fans in The Old Grey Mare yesterday, they were cock a hoop about the anticipated swell of Yawksha folk at the game yesterday.

I pointed out that we filled their end a few seasons back, think it was under Dowie's stewardship, not too sure?

Now I have known the odd occasion where i've been wrong but i'm pretty sure this was the case, did i dream this up??

  7. Totally and utterly agree. If any of the stayaways are reading this, today this Latics team played the most enjoyable game of football since possibly the Nottingham Forest game on New Years Day in 2007. Scintillating football, rapier-quick attacks, slightly reminded me of vintage Arsenal. Sounds hard to believe doesn't but it really was sublimely good.

Frankly, Mr. Shankly, since you ask

You are a flatulent pain in the arse

I do not mean to be so rude

Still, I must speak frankly, Mr. Shankly

Never the less, i agree entirely......sublime

  8. Well today was as good as we have seen at BP for a long -long -long time. Players with passion, will to win, desire, teamwork, skill, ambition, who made a good team look extremely average, and played at a pace that as not been a feature in a Latics team for years. Paul Dickovs team, including the backroom staff should be very proud of themselves today. Thank you one and all.

And that coming from a Yawksha man

  9. Exactly the right sub to bring on though.

That run he made nearly wrapped it up!

Yeah, fair play to him for that!! Might just be the kick up the arse he needs.

I expect him to start in the middle next week, in place of Furman. If he does well, i'll do my best to get Stephens relegated to the bench for when Furman returns

  10. News from BP today is that we are close to new owners.

Simon C will be handing over the keys to the club before christmas he hopes.

PR is waiting in the wings to take over with a group of interested people.

Alan H is also staying till the end of the season, to help the new owners then calling it a day !

New group want to buy the club 100% - NO ROOM for the trust it seems!

Can't be the case or Barry would've already informed us
