I hope he starts Vera
I reckon we might see the best out of him in a Premier League standard stadium, some players thrive on it and feel at home in these kind of stadiums and I think Urko is one of them.
Huge game to kick start our season, whoever is picking the team better not make too many changes.

Is Nepo even in the clique? Always thought he was a bit detached from it.
Gets on well with Vera.

Would have gone to this but off to watch Chesterfield v Woking tomorrow.

Horrendous record in this competition for some strange reason, sure it's 11 first round exits in 12 years or something.
Fingers crossed he plays the under 18's and we scrape a 1-0 win.

Still waiting for this 100% increased budget that the trust stated in the notes ....

Worrying how we look four or five players short and the season starts in a week.
First Eleven should be in place 2 weeks before the season, to gel, have game time together and start the season running.Losing the likes of Iversen, Clarke, Edmundson, and Lang .... four of our better (best) players from last season and replaced them with absolutely nothing ..
This kind of sums it all up. Struggled last season and we've lost our four best players ..

All fell apart when Shez left ..
Downward spiral ever since. Fact.

So...if we accept that we were up against an under 21 side that looked well coached and had one or two technically strong players whose game plan was ball retention and look to break fast....
i think that tonight was an opportunity for Banide to see the rest of the squad (bar Hamer, Sylla and Iacovitti) start a game - then what did we learn?
Zabret - good shot stopper and was vocal when needed. One punch early on when he could easily have caught. Had no chance with the first goal which was a screamer and maybe his defenders should have cleared from his initial save for the second.
Hamer - definitely the MotM. Never stopped. Still needs to improve his positional play though.
Stott and Iacovitti - a fair game at the back for both I thought. And they both scored...
Smith-Brown - tidy performance but would have liked to see him get forward more.
Eagles - obvious quality. Also obvious that he is some way off being match fit.
Sylla - another good game and ran Hamer close for MotM. He need to stop putting his hands on players when closing down though as this leads to too many free kicks.
Fage - I like the look of this lad. Quick and energetic. Faded somewhat second half.
Azankpo - took his goal well. Should have scored with a header first half but led the line well.
Nepomuceno- reasonable game. A couple of good crosses, one good shot and of course the corner that led to the goal for Stott. Not yet back to his best.
Vera - one flick on and a couple of deft touches. Too slow when through on goal. Overall an ineffective game.
Gonzales - played the second half. Looked slow and disinterested.
Adams and Dolan - chased down well but ultimately too little time to judge.
Useful workout - bring on Crewe Alexandra.
Plays up front, our team score 3, yet he's ineffective.
Doesn't start up front on Saturday and team score 0.
The witch hunt for the lad is mad.

I'm gonna stick my neck out and say Vera is absolute dog shite, I think he's lacking in ability as well as desire.
I really hope I'm wrong anyway.
Started one. Won one.
Pass it on.

Was he on the pitch when we scored the winner?
Really? I expected better of you. That has nothing to do with it. He hadn't of run their defenders ragged for 75 minutes, they wouldn't have been as tired and could have stopped the winner .. all if's and but's.

Scoring the winner after he went off and him having cock all to do with the others
plus - thought changing the side was a bad thing? By your logic he should have been on the bench.
to everyone else he should have been as far away as possible
One start this season - one win this season.
FACT.

Your hero Shez did exactly the same - even Greg Fleming got a run out in this shit tournament
Second game of the season? Didn't think so.

But in a competition that no one gives a shit about, its ideal to give players on the fringe a run out against semi decent opposition.
I get your point but it's not something I'd do second game into a season for a team that's just lost, hardly played together, has no connection or confidence. Perfect game for them to gel, get game time and become a unit (if that's even possible)

Most clubs in our league believe it or not !

The two goals we've scored have been the result of terrible defending I'm not even sure you'd see in league two..
One from our rusty keeper who should have done better with the second. Shock.

Of course he doesn’t! We’ve had new signings in that haven’t had games yet. Ffs man.
That's what a good solid well prepared pre season is for believe it or not .... shouldn't be starting the season using professional competitive matches to test out systems and players, the best XI should be out there every single game.

Few nice touches by our resident carthorse.
He's our best player.

That answers my question. Thanks.
Well explain, why do you think it's a good idea to change your captain, change your goalkeeper and make eight changes into just the second game of the season?
Are the players tired?
Did he not know/does he not know is best XI? -

Are you really this clueless?
In the sense of what? Eight changes, change of captain and a change of goalkeeper seems a good idea?

Bore off. Everytime something happens that means nothing, we'll just bear in mind your pretend outrage to save you typing. Give you more time to chase the dragon then. Win win
What?
You think eight changes, a change of captain and a change of goalkeeper is good for a consistent team? -
Eight changes including the keeper. Absolutely shocking. Why the f*ck did we play so many pre-season games if they're tired. Why change the keeper? Why keep no regularity. Absolute joke.
