  1. Maybe a 'Are you happy with the way the season panned out?' poll would bring a different set of figures?

I still think some might see that as a personal attack on Shez, and would therefore state that they were delighted with our season rather than admit improvements were lacking.

Tin hat on in anticipation again.

  2. Also the fact we are a club with little ambition. 500k is nothing if the boy could have taken us up.

    Sorry to pick through your posts Youngen, but I remember agreeing to an earlier one of yours (Feb 1st) when you informed Max Damage;

"You seem to be forgetting weve just made 500K on Trotman plus the 200k we made off Philiskirk in the summer. Wages saved on Ricketts. Thats how we afford half decent players. "

I'm confused now, because I thought you were originally in favour of the sale of Trotman? It seemed good business to me under the circumstances.

  3. Shezza in every time - whatever we do - his whole philosophy on footy is somet I agree with & admire!

You should be applauded for managing to get 'Shez' and 'Philosophy' into the same sentence. :)

Now try to do the same with 'Allardyce' and 'Integrity'

  4. So you are basing that on 125 people vote - LOL

I think it's safe to say the majority of Shez outers have already voted at BP - with their feet. Let's not kid ourselves, there are a lot of unhappy fans out there, and the dip in attendances is no coincidence.

  5. it doesnt automatically mean we would struggle and be bottom all season.

for one you would have an increase in season tickets, and maybe merchandise, which in turn would mean our wage would rise thus attracting a better calibre of player, plus the away fans would increas again bringing in a revenue stream, which would mean more money to spend come the transfer window.

if it was offered right now i would take it in a shot, and i would think 99% of us would.

How right you are. Based on our ability to beat 'Better' teams as proven this season, there is nothing to suggest we wouldn't hold our own in the Championship.

In fact, it is our inconsistency that is one of the major factors of discontent with many of the fans - we have shown we are capable (With or without our top players) and we have shown we can be vunerable (With or without our top players).

If JS has got a 3 year plan (As one or two have stated) then so be it - we will have an idea whether it is going to work by Christmas as a few people have said. All I would add to that is, by now he should have his team pretty much sorted for his third year, and ripping it apart close season would appear to be going back to square one.

Surely the players he has are the ones he planned would take us up (Injuries aside of course), and he only expects to make one or two final adjustments for next season?

We shall be able to see by Boxing Day - and I firmly believe that this should be his day of reckoning. No more silly comments, no more tactical errors and no more inconsistent performances - that would show me that we are finally moving forward.

  6. Gunnar Halle without a doubt.

others foreign born players you may remember, but not mentioned so far.

    Mickael Antoine-Curier

    Junior Agogo

    Mark Arber

    Julian Baudet

    Paul Rachubka

    Mark Watson

    Bruce Grobbbelaar

    Christian Vonk

    Hank Keizerweerd

    Alexandros Kryatoglou

    Hey! I mentioned Brucie!

    Wasn't it Michel Vonk btw?

    There's also Ole Bjorn Sundgot

    Hasney Aljofree

    Miguel Roque

    Tomas Cwyka

    Luigi Glombard

    Lourenco

and some African(?) striker we had on loan from Brighton a couple of years ago (Can't remember his name).

I guess there are a few more if someone took the time to seek them out from the archives.

Remember my dad calling one player 'Slingyourhook' in the seventies - but I'm not sure who it was other than he wasn't British - which was a novelty then.

Oops! Just seen Crusoe's 'Michel' post, and Dave GTT's Molango- Yep! that's him!

  7. Who is this Liddell bloke then??? Seem to remember someone by that name being good about two years ago.... then he went crap, got injured, and dissappeared from the face of the earth??? cant be the same bloke can it... can it????

    :blink::wink:

..... welcome back boys, you are much needed.

Just to say though... if gregan is to start... instead of playing him in midfield I would much rather see hazell moved to RB - and eards pushed forward - giving this:

    Hazell Greeeegs Stam Lomax

    Eards Allott Jarrett Taylor

    Smalley Zebedee

    More balanced for me....

Hmmm! Quite like the look of that.

  8. Paul Bernard against 'boro in the penultimate game of 90/91 was pretty stand out.

That was my first thought on reading the thread. I also thought Gunnar had a good debut, and thought "This guy's gonna be a real star" when I first saw Tore Pedersen.

Mike Fillery stands out for some reason, but I can't remember why

  9. I agree. It's always good to find a fellow pedant. (See you at Asda to protest against the "Less than 10 items" sign?)

So, what should it be then? Quartered (without the hanging and drawing)? Trigintated (yes, I did Latin at Chaddy Grammar)?

    :cardinal:

Oh , ut puteulanus vado escensio

I reckon 'Halved' would suffice, but I'm reluctant to quote this just in case there are UberPedants (Higher beings than myself I must add) who may point out a verb that correctly describes to the fraction the reduction of our squad.

They're out there you know - just waiting to jump on the mistakes of us smartarses

  10. Could have complained about the pies, the stewards, the goalkeeper, the ref, linesmen, the numpties on this board, the weather, the half time score reader, the chlamydia stall, the music played, Shez not liking Jarrett, ITV, Constantine, The Sunday papers or any of the dozen other things that people have complained about in the last 24 hours, but that's all been discussed so I thought I'd go for something new. Tomorrow "The Groundsman's Wellies Are Too Dirty" :lipsrsealed2:

  11. Personally, I think he's coped fantastically well this season. He's had a squad decimated by injuries, 5-6 players with no major experience, and few leaders on the field. Now what on earth do these fans want from him? Why would you see him leave the club? What reason - I'd love to hear 'em.

In Shez, we've got a man who wants to play football - he says it all the time "nice and simple". We'd be a fool to get rid of him on the basis that we don't play quality football. The young lads are prone to hoofing it up field because they don't have the experience. These players are looking more and more confident, and they'll show it next season. Secondly, he lead us to the top of this division with yet another small squad last season, and that was in his debut season as a full-time manager.

If a manager can't express themselves fully due to injuries/lack of experience (let's not forget that this side, in my opinion, has a future because of its tender age), then how on earth people can draw conclusions is beyond me. We've seen how he wants to play this season - we saw it last season in longer periods - so can people just start looking at the variables affecting us this season, and be a little more patient, please?

    Evidently not...

The Pedant in me wants to explain that decimating only reduces by one tenth..... but I understand what you mean.

Agree with a lot of what you're saying but I won't be convinced until I see that he's learned from his mistakes by Christmas - only then will he have my full backing.

  12. So in all your time as a DJ did you make the realisation that you may not of been everybody's cup of tea, or were you aware that everyone has there own opnion? Opinions are like A*se holes, everybody has one, they all stink.

All im saying is that maybe he makes you cringe, but im happy with the job he does (Which he doesnt get paid for) and i appreciate all the unseen things he does for the club as well which most dont know about.

I know full well that I couldn't please everyone, and took my fair share of abuse from those who didn't like me. I was well paid and in reasonable demand though so it was water off a duck's back. I also appreciate what Franny does for the club, and that unlike me, he is doing it for the love of the club - not money.

Having listened to almost all the PA's in the football leagues, unfortunately I think Franny is a long way short of many of them - I particularly admired the professionalism of West Ham's PA, and also Southampton's.

I have been to functions where Franny has DJ'd and been impressed with his music and control of the punters, but he honestly needs to leave out the in-jokes and the constant use of the word 'actually' when he's at BP, because there are a large group of people who I sit amongst who find it laughable.

The original 'scary' owl that we had was poor when compared to the others at the time but we've seen a (Slight  ) improvement there - So there is always hope for our PA. Maybe Franny just needs a few pointers from the others.

I've certainly no qualms with him having a dig at ex players - A bit of fun is what he's there for.

You're spot on about opinions though - I really liked Graeme Sharp (The player, not manager), but it seems he is the AntiChrist with most on this board.

  13. Maybe because the club has said this week in the press that they think we are out of contention for the playoffs, this has been done deliberately to take pressure off the young players and allow them to relax and play their natural game as they did yesterday. If that is the case, surely it is good management.
And if that isn't the case?..................We're then back to the hard fact that no-one was having a go at the players when they were playing some of their most attractive football. Coincidence? Who knows?
  14. Typical fans eh? Pass judgment on someone you dont know anything about. Franny is a top guy and does a great job at BP, he also does stuff that he doesnt have to, but he does it out of his love for the club. Im not going to sit here and listen to bad stuff being said about him. Lets see any of you lot go and do what he does.........Any takers?
Not passing judgement on him as a person - just his lack of talent. I had 17 years as a DJ and MC in places like Rotters, The Manchester Club (And most of Oldham's fleapits) so I recognise cringeworthy material.

Just my opinion of course - but I guarantee a few share it.
