  1. Realised the soppy old git hasn't thought about little Wembley has he? We may need a small part of the Clayton car park, where the changing rooms are ( Some of this may be owned by the club anyway as the land all the way up to the first house on Sheepfoot lane is owned by the club, loads of options for an access roads! There'll be more than enough room (handy being a former QS 'aint it, And we own the access road at the side of the Clayton arms which takes you round to the car park! NIMBY's you have no chance!

I reckon the access road will run diagnol from the hospital car park we own over the waste land that incorporates Darlington Transport over the back of the Rocky and through little Wembley with an exit onto Broadway/Sheepfoot Lane, and incorporating access to the existing residential roads. It will only be a standard two lane road I reckon, taking you in and out of the ground, smaller car park and new residentail area. Will be a bit of nightmare but so is Derby, Bolton etc... one road in, one out. Tough titties NIMBY's!

  2. And they will do.

If they look at it long term our plans might be a lesser of two evils for them. The housing market is also doing a belting trade at the minute. What better time to buggar off and get a new house before as they reckon "the valuations of their properties drop".

That is actually something that grates with me too. They had a genuine chance to have a say in what was going on. They seemed to have gone in dead set against it. The end. No alternative ideas offered at all. Just we don't want this to happen.

  3. Lets just say that the worst scenario of all occurred in a few years. Obviously a very hypothetical situation at present but if we did end up disappearing and the ground was knocked down, what do these people think would happen.

A big plot of land, vast in acres just left untouched because it is what suits them?

Or would the land be built on, with even more homes than our development would have ever included?

I think we all know the answer.

They're fighting a battle they'll never win. If it isn't us, it'll be sold on and someone with much bigger ideas will get the land and do it and I doubt someone with a bit of land will stop them.

Doesn't matter what you own, the council can slap a CPO on it, if they deem the building/piece of land vital to regeneration, ask the residents of Werneth and Derker, slightly different I know, but the same rules apply. Anyhow smoozing with the right peole at the highways agency will take care of that smug old git and his piece of land! Probably another reeason why Hillstone and Ian Hill are on board. A large contractor and a land and property expert.

  4. Well I voted Chris Ha........ nah Warne, has to be.

Would've been Stam if the voting was only up until November, or Gregan if voting stopped at the end January. But for sheer effort, desire and consistency it has to be Paul Warne, he's due a goal too and I've a feeling he bag a crucial one in the next two games...............LEGEND!

    Dear Sir,

I would like to convey my exasperation at the Clayton NIMBYS, again threatening to scupper Oldham Athletic’s plans to progress. The new development is a chance to regenerate land around Boundary Park that has been a festering windswept eyesore for years. Whilst I appreciate the residents may have to venture further to walk their darling little mutts, surely this development will be for the good of the area. The land is of good quality and has real estate value, oh and if the Football Club did go out of business the paper clip counters up at the Civic Centre approved planning permission for 100’s of houses years ago when they bought the ground back off the club in the late 1990’s. Of course the ground is now owned by the club’s owners but as far as I know that planning application will still be current and binding.

This development is a real chance to put Oldham on the map, the facilities will be superb for the football club, a high quality hotel which the town has a shortage of, a health club of which there are only two in the town that I deem to be of suitable standard and of course the key worker housing which will give hundreds of people the chance to purchase an affordable home. If the development doesn’t go ahead because of a few people’s short-sightedness it would be a disaster for a Football Club that has existed for 112 years, and for 100 years on its present site.

The objections to this development are incandescent of the attitudes of a townsfolk that has stood by and let their town die. We’ve lost our only cinema, countless swimming pools, an architecturally superb old town hall that’s been moth-balled for years, oh and the railway warehouse fiasco….anyone got a quid!? Then of course the same Oldhamers sat back and let their Rugby club die, they gained a second chance yet still don’t support their local team. But of course the biggest travesty was the town sitting back and letting our jewel in the crown be destroyed bit by bit…..Tommyfield, a world famous landmark that has been allowed to drift into history.

I suggest the Clayton Nimby’s focus their attentions on the council slowly eroding the Clayton ‘Town Green’ by the back door. Pubs and car garages ring a bell? Believe me it is only a matter of time. Concentrate on saving the Clayton dog toilet and let the rest of the land OWNED by the club be brought into the 21st Century.

    Yours Faithfully

    Mr. Paul Prendergast

  6. I've mentioned this before, and can't remember if anybody replied so does anybody recall a game against Chelsea in the 80's when a load of manyounighted turned up in the belief that they could join up with Latics and get at Chelsea. They came in the Chaddy and grouped up on the CP side, started moving accross the back signing "we hate Chelsea and we hate Chelsea" or summat like that, when they got to half way all hell broke loose at the Chaddy charged at 'em witha "we hate manyou and we hate manyou", I was about 2 or 3 barriers up from the front behind the goal and looking around it was like one of them cartoons where theres a fight and all you can see is a huge dust ball with arms and legs flailing out of it. Eventually Barry 666 and his mates restored some order and hoyed the mancs out, of the ground and town, I think. I looked at the Chelsea fans on the RRE and you could see them pointing, probably all going :sign0094:

I'm sure that was the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in October '88 Stipey :mmm: . I remeber 'cos the Scum were on Telly the day after v Everton - First live game of the season. Remember cacking it when it went off :peepwall: well I was only 11 at the time. When I realised it was Man Yoo my owd fella hads to give me a clip round the ear 'ole <_< to prevent me joining in! :violent111::stretcher:<_<

As for experiences of United's 'friendliness' as I had just turned 16 and wasn't a member, when we beat them 1-0 in '93 I had to go in the Looker Rocky Road paddock - non-members, full of Scummers who threatened to bash my head in for celebrating :bblue2: wildly and ripping the pish out of their sad Man Yoo asses :getbent: and it was looking decidedly ropey 'til a load of my owd fellas mates appeared behind me with about 10 mins to go, so one of the super tough Mancs gobbed off again about what they were going to do to a skinny 16 year old when a couple of the lads I knew proceeded to rearrange his route canal work free of charge! :sign0173: Just as Craig Fleming almost made it 2-0!

  7. Shez fer me anyday

We had this discussion on the train home on Saturday. a lot of the younger lads raved about Dowie. We were a big side under Davros, but with little flair, we tended to grind and battle our way to results based on our solid defence. There were a few highlights, such as the 6-1 v Mansfield, the wins at Derby and West Ham - but in the main we were rubbish at home. Under Sheridan we fear no one, we are very good at home and have tended to annihalate most teams at BP,then we go into their backyards and play them off the park, with many opponents stating what a good team we are; Gillingham, Swansea and Huddersfield to name a few.We can fight, scratch and battle our way to points too but for sheer passion and ability with the football this team is streets ahead. They want to be here too, not like many of the mercenaries we brought in with Moore's money. (Cough, Wijnhard, Hill, Dowie, Harbin, cough) The good old days are back and that for me is down to Shez, Tommy Wright, Dux and TP all Latics through and through, with a real affinity to the club.

  10. when latics play tranmere on sat will you boo or clap him when he comes out of the tunnel???

Bob, sometimes pictures speak more than a 1000 words! Gutted myself as I'm in the sponsors lounge that day(missus has decided to pay for the whole shebang as i'm 30 on Thurs' 8th so 5 of us doing it in style on Sat! ,would've loved to have given him grief, still may just moon him through the window!

  11. Always in the bag. They scrapped and fought with us all the way but we held them off, just. Three goals away too :D

Great start, but instead of building on it we went into our shell and were pretty poor for half an hour. Nicked a good goal close to half-time, then never in danger until we started the Ole's late on and giving our customary consolation away proceeding to give 700+ Latics fans bums of the squaeky variety. Plusses for me today, Wellens shooting on site, Charlton best he's been for weeks and Rocky wasn't as bad as some are making out! Oh and Ports deserves a mentioon for a brave finish. Minuses - Taylor very quiet, tightly marked but subdued and Shez not bringing Dabo on! Seriously though massive 3 points, a few rumblings of discontent from Last week around me :sign0094: but we've put that to bad with 4 out of next 6 at home, by the end of Feb' things could be really looking good. KTF :applause1:

  12. Lookers Lower :D , alternate between there and the Chaddy every couple of years. Like the 'Paddock' as you feel on top of the action and the unrestricted view is decent from my seat on the half-way line. Plus my lad can see better in the Lookers (or NSM!) Whilst the Chaddy will always be my spiritual home, 8) I feel there are too many incosiderate little :censored:es who prefer to throw chips at people or just plain arse about for 90mins. Still can't beat a last minute goal at the Chaddy End though!
