  1. Whilst Man U may struggle aginst strong Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool teams, as well as the newly rich Man City...

...Stockport wont get near us in League 1, and I think Rochdale might struggle in League 2 (Bury could do alright).

I think Oldham will be the highest positioned Manchester area team in theie own division this year!

I wonder whether there is a bookmaker taking odds on this?

United will finish top 2 with Ronaldo on his way back and Carrick and Hargreaves back. I wouldn't throw my money away on that bet but someone on Betfair will take your £10 off you.

  2. they werent drunk but they were drinking. terrible! when i went back to the bar later one of them shoulder charged me out of the queue! told him to stop sweating on my shirt, and also that i could do him over if i wanted. he found that funny.

You sound like a complete prick

  3. You totally missed the point I was trying to make in my post, our results due to our away win at League 1 favourites Leeds makes our achievement in the month more meritous than Leicester's.

Leicester are just 1 goal above us in the League table, if the award was given purely to the league leaders then whats the point of making a shortlist for the award, just give it to whoever is top of the league after the first month.

Oh yeah I'm sorry, your right Pearson must win it as Leicester are so far clear at the top of the league.

His team has performed better for the month hence they are top. The fact that we beat Leeds who are in the bottom half of the league has nothing to do with it. :dunce:

Its the team/manager who perform the best in the month and they did, its not hard is it?

  4. "As a 35-year-old I’m very proud of my fitness. There was only one player I couldn’t catch in pre-season – that was Chris O’Grady, but he’s a machine.” - Andy Liddell in todays Chron :o .

Could it be a long distance / fitness type race? You don't have to be fit to run fast

  5. As for some people mentioning Robert Key as a possibility, well firstly you need to be in the team to be thought about as a possible candidate for the captaincy.

    BBC Link

I think people were mentioning Key as he was more than likley going to be selected in the next test should Collingwood not have done what he did in the last test.

I would have picked anyone but KP, if he buckles under the pressure then we are screwed. It effected Beefy's game and if KP dips then we have no current world class batsmen to back him up.

I would think he had enough on his plate being our star player, Tendulkar didn't find it easy being both.

  6. not the right sort of statement to come out this week.

I think it is the right thing. Put up in training or shut up when your not playing. If i read that i would be thinking 'hang on if i want to play then i need to impress in everything i do' (Davies, Maher type) or 'I might have a chance if i can give it my all' (Stevens, Smalley type).

With such a big squad some people may have the mentality to give that extra 10% all the time to make their mark, others may be resting on the fact that they have a) been signed by the gaffer B) done ok last year.

He also mentioned Lewis, Stam and Deano as players who shouldn't be thinking about being on the bench.

"I’ve told Lewis Alessandra and Deane Smalley they shouldn’t just expect Craig Davies and Chris O’Grady to be up front. I’ve told Stefan Stam he needs to be pushing to play in defence"

Good management I say, get them pushing that extra yard. I'm sure that if there was problems with attitude in training people like Wright and Shez would sort that.

  7. Also in tonights chron:

"Lidds is 35, but he has been coming on and, with the way he plays and goes about his game, he tells me he should be in the side.

He trains properly every day and some of the others dont do that they think they can switch on and off, but I see right through them."

Sounds like people are not impressing in training. Not a big fan of Lids but if he is the stand out performer in training and the others are not putting 100% in then I think Shez is right to start the season with him. Might be a kick up the backside of some of the players who think they should be in the team and if Lids plays and is bobbins then Shez will try someone else.

  8. I think we are defo top 10 or could possibly get the play offs, but to be genuine contenders I think we need a quality left footed left back and left winger. I feel that when you ask any player to 'fill in' it harms the team and upsets the balance. It easy to defend against a player who you know will always cut inside. We knew we needed it last summer, and up to this point we still haven't signed anyone yet, it should have been the number one priority to me. If we fill these key positions, or at the very least the left back one, then we could be in for a great season.

It certianly won't be bust in any event, there are surely 4 worse teams than us in this division.

We have signed more than enough centre mids and forwards, its down to Shez if we don't have cover on the left come the Millwall game.

  9. If we don't go up then he should (will) be sacked, I doubt he would even argue against that. He has spent a lot this close season and TTA have backed him far more than I thought they would. Unless something horific happens then he will have no excuses for failure.

I think we have a chance but with Leeds and Leicester in our league we may have to go through the play offs.
