  1. Slightly off topic!

I remember going to Huddersfield's old ground Leeds Road, when we played there in the late 80's (prob 87 or 88) and they needed to beat us to stay in the old 2nd division IIRC. Anyway the linesman rules out a goal for them for offside and one of their numpties jumps over the perimiter fencing and batters the linesman.

I think he got about 6 months inside for that! :jailed:

    I remember this as well!

  2. Anyone with a squeaky voice remembers me of the bloke at the back of the Chaddy End who used to shout out random inaudible things…

Tea-urns remind me of the tea-trolleys around the perimeter of the pitch..

The smell of a freshly printed programme, takes me back to the mid-80s when I was 9, freezin' my nads off in the Chaddy…

The smell of bovril, again back to the Chaddy End

    Stale pies ditto

    Cigar smoke ditto

    Other memories off topic:-

Fanfare for the common man, played before the team came out

The teams running out separately, none of this walking out with the ref, and lining up to shake hands bollocks…

The old wooden terracing at the back of the Chaddy fenced off

The kid with the scruffy long blonde hair who used to push the tea-trolley round the pitch

The sight of little orange lights all over the terrace as various fans sparked up..

    The manky Chaddy End toilets

Clinging for dear life on the Chaddy End fence during big games

    The enormous pies

    The big bags of crisps

    Waggon Wheels

    Klix Gum

    The clock at the RRE

Weatherstall advert on the side of the Main Stand

Match Sponsors like Madge and Hoyle, Able Hire Co, Dannimac and Match-Mates when we played a potteries team...

  3. I'm after mascots for the follwing games if anybody is interested!

    1) Peterborough away, 11th Sept, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 4-13. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match or be willing to buy one on the day! My deadline for this is 27th August.

    2) Sheff Wednesday away, 28th Sept, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 6-12. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match. My deadline for this one is 19th August.

    3) Southampton away, 23rd October, mascot must be a member of Boundary Blues and be aged 6-16. One adult can accompany the mascot and both the adult and the mascot must have tickets for the match and you must arrive 2 hours before kick off. My deadline for this one is 30th September.

Also, if any children are interested in being a mascot for the home game against Shrewsbury in the JPT please can you let me know.

    Thanks

    Lisa

just wondering, when i was younger and in junior latics it felt like every young latics fan was sat in the junior latics parties hoping and preying that their name would get picked out of the bucket for a chance to be mascot. does this still happen?

  4. I know this doesn't belong in this section but wanted as many as possible to see as I'm hoping someone can help.

I'm after a decent picture of the Queens Arms and can't seem to find one when searching. Any ideas?

    Cheers in advance

ive got one but dont know how to load it on here, any advice and ill put it on.

  5. I think i will take it from the horses mouth over your word for it. Why do people still come on with this rubbish when the club director has already been on this same thread a couple of days ago saying there is no truth in it. I doubt we would have just payed up Pennys contact either if we were on the verge of admin.

Season tickets are sold at this time every year

from a players mouth. dont shoot the messenger.

  6. i heard we would have gone into administration a few weeks back voluntarily if we would have had 12 more points as not to have got relegated, but with the dire points total we held off.

next seasons season tickets on sale before the end of the current season?

new kit on sale before the end of the current season?

do we need the money now?

    i think so.

  7. Not attempting any arguments here Latics Lee....no doubt what you've stated is probably correct as I would guess that most progressive and forward looking clubs would head hunt staff who have great qualities.

You'll recall the circumstances surrounding the departure of Stu....you may not remember or know much about Sean, but one thing about both of them is they were good at their specific jobs within the club, unfortunately they had interference from other sources.... and I'll just leave it that.

by any chance would you say some of the interference come from someone with the initials AH?

  8. I looked at my calendar today and thought 8th April was a special date but couldnt remember why. Thanks to the OP for reminding me!

Yes, I was there. Similar memories to Prozac's - went on Barlows, listening to Palace beat Liverpool etc. A great day out but spoiled for me cos our seats were in the corner of Platt Lane right against the Main Stand fencing near some reds (I'll be polite today I know they're hurting  ) We'd been to Maine Rd loads of times and we chose Platt Lane to be behind the goal. Anyway, loads of reds in with Latics fans and pockets of fighting after each ManU goal. Relief in the end when Ooh Roger equalised. I thought we "scored too early" with Earl's goal as they were shocked how good we were. They thought they just had to turn up and they would beat us. Loved giving it the reds after Marshall's goal - my mate thought I'd lost it!

Went in the Kippax for the replay. Gutted but nowhere near as gutted as I would be at the Wembley semifinal. Enough said.

exactly the same as above, i woke up and knew it was a special date, 20 years have gone by so quickly, i wonder if in another 20 years we will be speaking about the 20 years that would have gone by??? who knows whats in store, one thing is for sure, we will be there through thick and thin. keep the faith.
