  1. Bouzy is a terrific keeper , who has got us out of jail a lot , second only to Baxter in player of the year imo .

Just unfortunate that it was a game we expected to win .

Only thing I would say is I would expect every keeper to be wary of surfaces at this time of year , very bobbly after the winter we have had as they dry hard.

    Err, what?

Bouzanis is a decent shot-stopper capable of decent distribution, but he is appalling at crosses, woefully slow off his line and doesn't talk to his defenders.

His erratic keeping has to be a major cause for concern next year.

  2. Oldham's problem is simple in my eyes. There are no jobs in a town that has over one hundred thousand people. We have young Asian lads growing up in areas with few prospects, and we have young white lads on council estates where neither parents nor grandparents have ever worked.

When people have nothing they will look for something to identity with, creed and culture, race or even an institution like Latics. Oldham is a giant melting pot with an awful lot of Asian and white nobheads without a focus.

  3. We were very good! Pressing high up the pitch in numbers was the best thing for me but we've got much harder tests to come, Hartlepool were awful. Roll on Saturday

    This is spot on.

Good start for the new manager, and encouraging signs of pressing in the right areas with Wes and the midfield pushing on. Has to be said though, Hartlepool were awful and as a first test a young manager must dream if teams that pass it right back to you...

  4. Two incidents spring to mind, one being at Liverpool and the other amusingly at Charlton after Philip Morris equalised.

Against Liverpool vwhen walking to the Grey Mare there were a group of Latics fans out for a scrap, and one of them was screaming abuse at three young Asian lads. Mainly because he said they were supporting Liverpool, but then he called.them "you c*nts" which wasn't great. If I were them I wouldn't be back...

As for Charlton there was an Asian lad with his missus(?) In front of us, and when we equalised my brother managed to belt him and send his glasses flying! Accident, but there you go.

  5. Worth a contract for his improvement since Christmas, but we shouldn't forget that up until then he was bob average.

If Smith chooses to leave he would be making a mistake, he's only just started getting any game time at all and he needs to get more still. Some of the comment on here is hugely OTT...

  6.

Jonesy puts it there for me. I can't believe he has been playing in Northern Europe for years and calling black players, "Little Nigger," all the time as a nickname. He did it when Evra and him were kicking each other and Evra suggested munching his sister's furnace of desire. I will set aside my expertise in Latin American language to speculate that they word can mean different things at different times, but I'm pretty sure at that time it didn't mean, "Thank you for kicking me, now please come around and shag my sister, my dark skinned amigo."

As I understand it the translation is closer to "little Negro friend" and is not supposed to be insulting. When used within an argument it could be seen to be so, but if so why would Suarez not deny it?

There is genuine racism out there without looking for it in petty words uttered in an argument

  7. I didn't boo him, but I did shout something like, "Well played, you talented but controversial racist," in a lulled moment. That told him.

As for the Evra incident, he isn't a 17 year old kid, if he was using language normal to him it would have been remarked on before at some point in England or Holland. What it tells us is that he really doesn't people making jokes about his sister's holy of holies, so maybe we missed a trick there.

Re: the article - 100% with eclaire. Any excuse to get a good old racism debate in, that train's never late.

As I heard it the word is a hispanic one, common in South America, which has skin colour connotations but is not meant to be offensive.

For instance, apparently Pacheco calls Glen Johnson the same word and they are mates.

  8.

I hope that bloke wasn't a regular as its not the sort of thing that this club, or any club, or even society as a whole needs. People like that may put off the local ethnic minorities from coming again and given our dwindling attendances the club can do without it.

Him and the skinhead nob looking for a brawl outside the Grey Mare who was screaming in the face of three young Asian lads on the incorrect assumption they were Liverpool fans.

Now they're racist, and scumbags through and through.

  9. No problem with Suarez and I don't really think the Evra incident shows him up as a racist. Surely the definition of racist language lies in the users intent, and from everything I have read about the situation it seems likely that in fact he didn't view his comments as racially offensive. Hence he admitted what he said and condemned himself.

Also, no issues with the handballs because I'd do the same. Diving is lame, but he's no worse than most.

So no, I don't boo him.

  10. I'm not saying people are wrong, but again I have asked a question about the supposed mismanagement and the responses are an allegation of taking funds out from extraordinary revenue streams and Corney suggesting the club could survive him.

Hardly conclusive, and as for the comment regarding the creaming of profits then you have to balance that against the fact that we didn't win a cup game for about three years so surely all that time the losses were being covered elsewhere?

The ground status is very worrying, but I don't get the rest of the innuendo I'm afraid.
