  1. Then Latics need to do something similar, or don't they listen to their customers once they have their subsciption ?

As I've only been in the job for a month or so, and the commentary is already at a high standard, it has been a low priority for me too look at minor tweaks.

However I can assure you that I am open to suggestions and as I've said countless times already anyone with a suggestion please feel free to email me.

I've read many posts on here suggesting things and I've tried to make note of them, but I have doubtless missed some things too - in that time I've had very few emails.

Perhaps the reason they don't play music is the extortionate amounts of money that the performing arts society want for the music played. Why not run a competition of music composed by the fans at half time, run by someone other than Gord and Rob, to give them a break.

My complaint is that I can no longer download the highlights and interview.

As someone who's been heavily into unsigned music in Manchester for a decade I can assure you that this is on my list of things to investigate and incorporate.

As before the issue is time and with the commentary itself well looked after other things, namely teaching myself how to use the various tools of the trade, producing articles and so on, has taken priority.

Now that I am finding my feet and setting up my processes things of this nature will begin to come to the forefront of my daily task list.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as just pressing play. Interviews will require compiling, editing, encoding and so forth - meaning that it will take a few weeks for me to set up a system for them, or things of a similar nature, to be incorporated into the commentary process.

Thanks for the feed back though, keep it coming.

    Cheers,

    Ste

  2. What annoys me is the the audio commentary has only worked for 1 out of 3 games so far this season. If this game is unavailable to me I will be asking for a refund for the month. It's hard enough living in a foreign country and trying to keep up with Latics, but when the main source of viewing and listening pleasure is off line or not working properly it is very annoying.

Latics World was perfect for me. Never let me down and always worked. Latics Player so far has found to be wanting in many areas. I'm even getting withdrawl symptoms from Gord n Roy!

I can't reply to every post on here regarding technical issues, as I only get a few minutes a day to look on here.

For all future Latics Player issues please email me, after you've followed the following simple steps (Mods feel free to move to Techie if you'd like).

In all instances I would suggest subscribers do two things first:

1.a. Log in to player, go to the "My Account" area.

    MyAccount.jpg

1.b. Ensure that your subscription is "Active" (assuming of course you've paid for a subscription).

    subscription.jpg

2.a. Click on "Help" in the bottom left corner of the screen.

    help.jpg

2.b. Work through the complete list of help items, ensuring where appropriate that your settings match those suggested.

    helpmeny.jpg

2.c. Retry playing the video/listening to commentary.

3.a. Should all of the above not solve the problems which you are having click on the "Contact Us" link, next to the Help link at the bottom of the page.

    contact.jpg

3.b. Complete the form provided (ensure you direct your query to the correct department) and if you wish for me to know of the issue send me an email (click my signature below) and I will monitor the situation for you.

If anyone else has a problem with Latics Player which the above does not cover then please feel free to email me, again via the signature below.

    Cheers,

    Ste

  3. I'm in the car back from Millwall and have a problem with my webmail. If anyone has had any additional technical problems with Player over the course of the day I'd appreciate you getting in touch via email so I can attempt to address them with PTV first thing tomorrow.

    Cheers,

    Ste

  4. Thanks J, addressing that now. There also appears to be a problem with the Latest (pre-millwall, not post-leyton) video not being online.

I am banging on the PTV door as I type, but I have to leave for Millwall about 5 minutes ago which will make this more difficult to manage. I ask for your patience folks, I'm working on it.

  5. Ackey

It's not a cache issue - I get the pre Stockport interview which plays after a picture on the pitchside at Orient. That's the first time I have tried to watch any of the interviews.

Can I suggest they reimburse all those affected with a free liquidiser/blender?

I agree it's not a cache issue, which is what I've now told PTV. I get the distinct impression they do not work as late as I do though, and so I expect this to roll over to tomorrow.

I will be researching what SLA's we have established with them though, as I don't feel this much time without the video for certain members is fair, when others are apparently able to access it without issue.

You can all have a blender, but you have to buy it yourself!

  6. looks like i will be getting the coach down, does anyone know if i could pay for the coach on tuesday. im in work monday and wont be able to get to latics in time.

Travel on the official coaches requires a free membership, which can be arranged through the club shop and requires two passport photos. Last I heard there will still places available on the Millwall coach, but I can't say with certainty if these are available to fans on the day.

  7. I meant a Latics Player interview that we could see for ourselves.

Unfortunately the limitations of a 3G dongle are such that uploading a complete interview is very difficult. The connection, as anyone with a 3G mobile phone can testify, is subject to dropouts and slowness.

As a result the video's are currently uploaded at the earliest possible moment - first thing on a Monday morning.

I appreciate that fans want to know what DP, and others, have to say after the game but the physical constraints of a 3G connection are difficult to overcome.

I hope that fans appreciate the videos, and if there are suggestions or requests as to how they can be improved I welcome constructive criticism or advice via email, I have only been doing it for 2 weeks after all.

    Rgds,

    Ste

  8. I am still in communication with PTV with regards to the issue subscribers are seeing when they attempt to access the Dave Penney post-Leyton game video interview.

They are investigating the matter now, but it unfortunately seems unlikely the issue will be resolved this evening. I will however continue to push them for a resolution until I go to bed later this evening and will provide an update via this thread if I have one.

    Rgds,

    Ste

  9. 3 computers in my house, all 3 play the abbott and Holdsworth interviews, the issue is not DP's interview it's the fact it plays as an old interview from 10 days ago. Despite the link opening with DP on the touchline at Orient it begins with him sat at BP being interviewed before the Stoclport home game. Anyhow problem solved, a :censored: service has somehow managed to get :censored:ter so it's binned. Thed only decent thing was the archive and that's not available at the moment so it's a waste of money. Buy the programme the interviews are repeated in there.

I'm sorry that you're not happy with the service mate. I can only do so much from my PC here at BP, as I have no access to, or control over, the PTV aspect of it all. I have tested the video with multiple accounts on multiple machines and not been able to replicate it. At that point all I can do is pass it on the technical team at PTV.

If anyone else has a problem my contact details are on here, on the official website and in the programme. Please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to resolve the problems you're having.

    Regards,

    Ste

  10. Done all that, problem's not at my end mate...

Well as you can see from this thread mate, it's working fine for many people. I've tested it on a third machine here at BP and all is ok... so I'm not really sure.

If the problem does not resolve please email me and I will pass it on to PTV for you.

All works fine for me....but why does it sound like Pawel Abbot was interviewed by the seaside?

Because for some reason there were about 2 dozen seagulls flapping about the place!

  11. This isnt a criticism of the Webmaster, but every other club has manager interviews online, why are we the only club who haven't.

There is extensive coverage of Mr Penney's comments, along with those of Pawel Abbott and Andy Holdsworth, in the Full Match Report from the Leyton Orient game. This was available here from around 7:30pm on Saturday.

There is now also full video of those three interviews available to Latics Player subscribers via the Latics Player home page, here.

However, to avoid confusion from now on it has been agreed that the Managers post match comments will be moved into a separate article.

    Rgds,

    Ste

  12. And the home page is still a full screen advert for player with the smallest link in the universe to get on the fishful!!!!!!

Something which I have no control over unfortunately. This is the default setting for all sites run by PTV/FLi.

    Sorry.

Holdsworth now playing, Penney's interview is the pre-Stockport chat - BBC type repeats?

All three are working fine for me both on my machine and another here at BP. I'd suggest clearing your cache in Firefox/Internet Explorer. If you're unsure how to do this see the help link at the bottom of the Latics Player homepage.

    Cheers,

    Ste

  13. Cheers Terry, I thought the Football League/BBC link up would be great as a I've managed to get a few people interested in Latics over here. And I thought they would (again*) be able to watch the highlights of their favourite English team but then i click on the link and got this...

"Cannot play media. Sorry, this media is not available in your territory."

WTF is that about??? What happened to the "world wide web"? I know it was the same with Virgin Media and I know it's the same for BBC live commentary but it pi**es me off... <end of rant>

Can anyone explain this to me? Cheers.

(* they used to be able to watch them on Latics World before licensing and all that sh*t)

In simple terms the BBC pay the Football League for domestic and not international rights to the games. It's the same with many other things both going from the UK to the US and from the US to the UK.

LaticsPlayer works in the USA though

  14. An update for you all.

Certain aspects of this issue is ongoing. However after some testing this afternoon I've established why the Youth Team players names did not transfer as the First Team's had and I've spent the afternoon manually updating them.

I will do the first team's this evening (some players are missing due to the way files are uploaded and stored).

    Cheers,

    Ste

  15. On the team homepage last seasons squad is on display, maybe this is where the pic should be?

Yep. On the list too. It's a long list.

The website's structure is in parts simple and effective and in parts frustrating and complex. As a result changing one area does not always change another, and so it's a matter of finding them myself (I spent 2 hours on Sunday last week going over ever page making notes) or having you good folks help me out.

    Thanks,

    Ste

  16. its under the "match tab" then gallery"...really logical that is...doh!!!!!!

That is how it's been set up for several seasons, there was an article on the front page highlighting that the first team photo-call was online however.

I do agree though that having only one gallery under the match tab (it's purpose is for game photo's to be uploaded there) is not ideal and it's on my site-review list to cover when I next speak to PTV (it's something I personally have no direct control over).

If you, or anyone else, see's things such as this which you feel are not very user friendly then please contact me at the email below.

    Regards,

    Ste

    ps.

Player names (as they appear in the grid format, below the larger image) are:

Tom Eaves, Connor Hughes, Phil McGrath, Leeroy Chinthengah, Matt Carr, Richard Cowan, Laquan Esdaile-Biney, David Mellor, Djeny Bembo-Leta, Rico Ramsey, James Tarkowski, Will McCall, Anthony White, Greg Kidd, Matt Carr, Nicky Zaicevs, Josh Rose, Andrew Crompton, Kirk Millar, Shaun Routledge, Mick Priest, Jon Guy.

  17. The Official Match Day Programme needs YOU!

This year Latics fans are being invited to try and beat an Athletic player at a general knowledge quiz. Fans will be contacted by 'phone to answer 16 questions, against the clock, before a member of the Athletic squad is presented with the same challenge.

Last week Carl Clare (OWTB moderator) took on Joe Jacobson, but lost out by just one correct answer.

This weeks challenger will face off against Darren Byfield, and willing participants (both for this week and future weeks) should email me via the link below with the following details:

    ~ Full Name.

~ A reasonably large ( and respectable! ) photograph of yourself.

~ Where you sit at home games, if you attend them.

~ How long you've followed Latics.

    Cheers, and good luck!

  18. Twas only a joke. However there are unresponsive areas on the player screen. I'm using FFox 3.5.2.

Might be worth pointing out that nothing happens unless the icons are clicked and not the headings.

Player is new, and has some bugs in it, they're part of the PTV construction and unfortunately (or fortunately?) out of my hands. I have however corrected the technical problems we were having with the Penney interview, which is now online in full.

    Sincere apologises for these issues.

  19. Cheers Ackey. Feedback like this is all we can ask for.

Indeed, despite all the troubles I've had PTV/FLi have been fantastic in trying to solve the problems.

Also, whilst I will endeavour to reply to threads like this on OWTB.co.uk where ever possible, obviously I can't commit the time to this site I did when I worked here, so if you or anyone else has an issue you'd like to raise please contact me using the email button below.
