I watched a vintage Granada TV interview with George Best and Rodney Marsh last night, mainly about when they played together for Fulham, the highlights of their off the cuff play was wonderful and I believe Fulham's gates shot up - even though both players were probably past their best. I remember the same effect when Bobby Johnstone was signed here.
Are there no ageing big name entertainers out there today who
could do a similar job for

the club isnt dying, new stand and that is decent enough.....its just not doing anything at all in the leagues and thats the way it is nowadays. this is it folks....this is it until we hit another boom time (and the inevitable bust time with it) with a wealthy benefactor....therefore the problem is money and as long as those at the top make more of it clubs at the bottom will continue to get :censored: all or less....2 tier football is on its way....

I think you're confusing Real Oviedo (Shareholders Trust) with Ebbsfleet United (MyFootballClub with decision-making Members).
...some fan owned clubs have a one member one vote in club business with a paid membership.ebbsfleet was a :censored:ing disaster,thats the internet for you tho...... having said that,look at how much our trust pull in from fans wanting to have an input in the club, its woeful.......nobdy is interested

what are we actually competing for in this league? Just to survive? A decent cup run? Whilst we have been in this league we've seen teams a lot smaller than us with smaller budgets gain promotion. Just wish we showed some ambition.

I'm not saying he wasn't a good player I've just never quite seen him in the same bracket that so many people put him in.

How much is our perception of all of them - Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard etc... - influenced by Sky's propaganda machine?
A simple gauge that can be used for these last 20 years or so is - did Real Madrid ever come seriously knocking?
i dont think they are.....real madrid have won 1 championship in 7 years.....chopping and changing the staff....going all in for the player they want....it doesnt make for a consistent winning side....paul scholes would have turned them down...plus he gets sunburned with fireworks

i mightbe a bit thick here....at least i'm amongst equals....but wouldnt impressing the will of an ideal (for instance football takeovers, sell outs and commercialisation) held by like minded fans on to a another semi pro club be contradictory?.......if youre fed up do something about it......could learn a thing or two from an attitude like that.....i watched mossley the other week and it was :censored:en gash so if that whats semipro football is like theyre welcome to all of it
