  1. We were ok in patches today and you have to give credit to Wycombe who, whilst clearly not good enough for this division, never gave up and played pretty well for 20 mins in the second half and could, maybe should, have won it. The point is we also battled and I didn't see any evidence that our players didn't want it or that PD doesn't know what he is doing as some have been saying.

  2. Firstly, well done to those of us that went but can the planks who were singing "you're not fit where the shirt" please take a long hard look at themselves!?

And especially the individual who very loudly and clearly called Bouzanis a "f*****g Tw*t" after he made his only mistake of the game

I really struggle to understand what some of our fans expect from a squad which is clearly mid table 3rd division quality and with a young manager learning his trade. In my 40+ years following Latics I have rarely been so saddened by the attitude of our fans. I don't live close to Oldham so don't get to many home games these days but it appears the town have given up on the club and bizarrely even the fans that turn up have also given up. Very, very sad.

  3. I thought Mvoto got worse as the game went on, some of his decision making was very poor and he looked nervous as hell. The goal was absolutely his fault, he let it bounce outside the area and then left it to Cisak when he should have taken responsibility. Time to bench him and let Tarky prepare for next season as we're only going to have reserve players left anyway

  4. Fookin' ell!!

You know, half the problem is negativity!!

Chesterfield are a single goal to the good...fair enough, if they score first, then it will be tough...but if we score first, then game-on!

"convinced ourselves that we are better than we are"...we have a decent squad, considering how crap the budget is...much better than our current position shows and we need to give PD lots of time to get things right.

I don't think my post was negative per se, I think PD should be given 5 years. My point was that we have got a little carried away because of the JPT run and the luck of the draw v Liverpool....ask yourself if you would have felt the same about things if we had drawn Dagenham in the 3rd round!

My point is we are a work in progress and the JP final offers us a chance for a massive boost....I just hope the players grasp it n the 2nd leg

  5. The problem is we seem to have convinced ourselves that we are better than we are.... After 25 games the league table does not lie, we are17th because we are not that great ( and with our budget and an inexperienced, but promsing, manager it shouldn't be that much of a surprise)

I suspect our best result ths season was the 1-1 draw at Southend when they were flying, other than that we have been very average. Liverpool was great for 30 minutes but we did lose 1-5 in case anyone hadn't realised!

The cups have been a nice distraction and have disguised our poor league form. The 2nd leg won't just define this season, it will define next season too as the Wembley money should give PD a chance to keep and build on the decent work he has begun. If we lose the tie (and lets face it, it doesn't look good right now) I really fear for the club......biggest game since Hughes mi:censored: that last minute volley into the top corner!!!!

  6. It all depends on what we are looking to do in the next few months.

If we are serious about the playoffs then we need a striker - Kuqi looks like he has lost his way and Reid is still not convincing as an 'in the box' striker

I don't think we are anywhere near good enough for the playoffs this year...all about Anfield and most importantly Wembley and the use the extra cash and positive atmosphere to retain this squad and add to it in the summer to make a genuine playoff challenge next season.....simples!!

  7. Interesting that, one of the comments on the 5live commentary from Pat Nevin was critical of us not making the most of our set pieces (by Simpson) on Friday, when Morais came on and took over he said how much more dangerous we were!

I'd still play him before Felipe every time though.

As a slight aside, I thought the five live commentary was excellent on Friday, not at all patronising, just called it as they saw it, first 30 mins Oldham are the better team and should be 2 up, Liverpool upped their game after we scored and ultimately 5-1 was flattering to LFC but in control most of the second half and Bellamy was the difference. They also judged the Adeyemi "situation" well.."we can't be sure what has happened but does not look good" etc. Really good to listen to.

  8. I sincerely hope we sell out our allocation for this. I think it's much bigger than the Liverpool game which, realistically, we were very unlikely to win. This tie we can win and a trip to Wembley would provide a massive boost to the club and potentially enable PD to strengthen what is already a decent squad into play-off contenders for next season

    Your club needs you!!!

  9. The scousers knew exactly what they were doing; Adeyemi has something said to him, maybe he miss heard but the whole ground starts immediately singing their Suarez song, and the connection with Tom is er.......oh yes, got it!

All this stems from LFC officials, Dalgleish and their stupid t-shirt wearing players...Kick the racist scum out of the cup

Oh, and the connection with Heysel? They never accepted full responsibility for it, it's always someone else's fault
