  1. how dare the club release a statement saying they would not sign him but then allow a story on BBC news that we would? No way would I support my club again. I have since I was 4 years old, 37 years ago, (work it out) i hate the fact that I have to do this just to make a stand. 2 Lee Hughes - at a stretch maybe that was an accident, but Ched Evans ? No. And no again. A convicted rapist.t Just no. ANY HUMAN BEING should absolutely refute this and not go to the next match as a boycott. Jonathan Holt And if anyone wants to contact me then please look at my profile as I am not ashamed of my opinions.
  2. Sorry, didn't see this topic had started and therefore had started my own! I've disagreed with some of Alan's decisions and and agreed with others. I haven't always liked what he has done for or to the club but I would never wish ill to him. Good luck Alan.
  3. I have my own opinions of Alan Hardy and what he has done for and to the club, but I would like to wish him all the best in his latest battle with ill health. I have disagreed with some of his actions over the years and agreed with others, but no-one should ever wish ill to happen to anyone and so I offer my best wishes to him. Good luck Alan and thanks for your devotion.
  4. I admit, I AM living in the past when it comes down to success. If we want to think about success at Latics, we all have to. My Grandad used to remember the post WWII era and my dad used to tell me of a time when we loaned the Reds a load of our players during/after the war and never got them back. I want success at Latics, but actually to be more correct, I want success BACK. We can do it. We have the seeds of a decent squad but I think what gets my goat is the complete indifference of the general Oldham populace. Remember Littlewoods cup final? The town EMPTIED! Where were they last week? We are and always have been a selling club. Breed the good players then make money off them. Then start again. Shame. One thing about the past that I REALLY would like back is canny transfer buys. The Earl Barretts, the Paul Warhursts, Tommy Wright, Ian Marshall, Frankie Bunn, Andy Ritchie and Ricky Holden. (Neil Adams to some extent, always thought he was a luxury in a winning side ). Nick Henry was awesome, you have to admit that. Remember THAT goal against Liverpool? Time will tell if Dickov has that transfer cannyness. I'm not sure about Taggart, that seems more of an old boys network, but I'd like more of Dickov's purchases/loans to show their potential sooner on the field. (Warren Feeney anyone? Looked a good buy at the time.) It will take time, whether we as fans have that much patience anymore is the question.
  5. From the dikshunary: ev·o·lu·tion (v-lshn, v-) n. 1. A gradual process in which something changes into a different and usually more complex or better form. See Synonyms at development. Sorry, I don't see how a new badge, kit and catchphrase is making OAFC a more complex or better form. Maybe I should be focusing on the GRADUAL part... Still, at least no one has called me a :censored:/kid/pal yet!
  6. Maybe I was unfair before pdw76...... ......no, just thought about my opinion again, and the art projects from GCSE that I have seen personally and, yep, I'm right. I just don't think that many people will like it. As I think I said earlier, it seems like Alan Hardy trying to justify his position. And it was oversold. No Latics fan is going to boycott matches for the sake of the badge. I know I won't. But why on earth is a new badge and kit an EVOLUTION? A new stadium is evolution. New board/chairmen/redevelopment news/AH being sacked is an evolution (or is the last one Revolution? ). This is a minor change and I don't like it, it wasn't necessary. If this did cost ANY money at all, it was a waste. While there are staff members who weren't getting paid until the Sky Sports money came in the board were getting this done. Even if the board dipped in their own pockets, that's a waste. Pay the staff first from their own pockets if they wish to invest money. I'd hate to think that the Bill Urmston situation might happen again. Black kit. Sure its nice. But again, not an evolution. As I said earlier, happens every couple of years so what are we left with? We are Latics. Nice. A new slogan. We had one before. Keep the faith. That wasn't branded as an evolution. Why raise fans hopes with such grand statements? If we were told the club would have a new badge and it would be unveiled last night, then fine, but an evolution? That's a stretch. I think the discussion should really move away from whether anyone likes the badge or not though. We can all make our feelings known by hanging banners with the last club crest on at matches. We can just not buy the pin badges with the new one on. IMO, what we need to do as fans is let the current administration know what we think about our hopes and expectations. We spend a fortune on kits, tickets, programmes and the like and as we are putting so much money into the club, we should have been consulted or at least had our expectations managed better. Sorry. (Fiarly random) Rant over.
  7. Jeez, I'm a teacher and I've seen GCSE Art projects. They kick this crap way out of the ground.
  8. F***ing SH1T. Been a Latics fan since I was a boy. Feel really short changed with a new naff badge (looks cheap, my 7 year old could do better with photoshop, what crap is this about the "hills of Oldham" and the "dark blue lines"?) and a "new" away kit. V nice, but don't we get one of those every 2 years anyway? Where is the exciting evolution? I worked with AH as a lad, painted the ground with his father and his father's mate. Remember them both taking a break every 30 minutes. Painted barriers in R Road end. I even painted the back metal wall in the Martins Stand with OAAFC or whatever. Then when I hit 18, worked in the new sponsors lounge as a barman. (AH insisted in shirt and tie). All staff used to refer to him as Adolf Hardy. How true this became. Over selling himself and out promoting his ideas. This EVOLUTION is embarassing.
  9. Thanks, will email when I get home later with a list of what I have.
  10. Hi all, first, sorry if this is in the wrong place, mods please feel free to move it if necessary. Been a Latics fan all my life, cut me and I bleed Blue and Tangerine. However, moving house (job related) meant that I had to reassess what stuff I had in the loft. As a child, one of my mum's friends couldn't afford to give me birthday presents and so I used to get old Latics programs (oldest from 1960 through to late 1960's) then as I got a little older I bought one every week, sometimes the fanzine and often used to go to the old programme shop behind the Rochdale Road end. Thus i have a large collection of old programmes that I am now thinking of selling. I have contacted the club and have received no reply (I know they have no money) and have emailed a couple of random websites but to no avail. Does anyone here know of anyone else who collects Latics programmes who would want to buy some of mine? I've read them all hundreds of times and its a shame that they are in a large box in my loft, serving no purpose and not being enjoyed as much as they could. Please post replies of any info and all would be gratefully received. Thanks Jonno
