  1. By the way, I'm very impressed. I've been on many forums and heard name calling and lots of bickering because people don't know what they are talking about. I see it on this forum when it comes to OAFC matters but I very much like the diplomacy of this thread so far. Even though we are only on page 2 ;)

  2.

Quickly set up new trade agreements and carry on as normal

Setting up trade agreements is never "quick" Canadas had a Summit with the EU on 18 March 2004 to set up a framework for negotiations with the EU which didn't actually start until 6 May 2009. It wasnt until the 1st of August 2014 that negotiations were concluded. 10+ years that took.

Ok I doubt we would take that long but to get the deal we want to trade etc we will still be giving in to the Freedom of Movement and still be paying into the EU for the pleasure of trading etc. So many negatives and what ifs. Voting for In purely on the basis that I know what I am voting for. Voting out means too much uncertainty. If there was any kind of structure laid out for the out camp, I'd be very interest but until then, Im not.

  3. If the Premier League doubled the income of every Football League club, we'd be paying the same players 2 - 4 thousand a week instead of 1 - 2. And clubs would still be bankrupting themselves.

    Exactly!!!!

Maybe if gate costs went down across the whole of the football league we would all have to pay footballers less. In turn to "succeed" at a career in football the bloody pansys might actually put some effort into trying and in turn we might end up with some decent English footballers and a good national team.

We all know things dont go backwards though and this is the problem with football in England, too much money to play a game, even from the lower leagues.

  4. It's a lose lose for lower league clubs

I agree, on paper the math looks ridiculous for us all. But if we (all) follow suit, footballers (who are not Premier League quality and dont put in the effort) will just have to accept they will be paid less and need graft for a living rather than be carefree layabouts when a club is fighting against relegation. It MIGHT actually spur on some of the lads to put more effort in to being the best they can and could improve English football.

Too many footballers now a days think its a right to be paid stupid amounts for the skill they possess without applying themselves.

  5. Call me a sceptic, but will the club have the funds to return back to us if we win a few games? I know a normal business would lump all the funds received into one pot ready to do a partial Credit but we know OAFC is not a normal business.

I'm actually considering this for next season if I can get my brother interested. Even if I only made half of the games it would be a decent investment

  6. When we signed Rooney I really thought Oldham were a team that played top football and we only ever missed a goalscorer and this was that guy. I told everyone at work we were going to bag loads of goals that year and I had us down for promotion. I think thats the only year in the last 15 I actually thought that was really going to happen. I was soon punched back down to size.

  7.

We don't need to get them in permanently just until the end of the season. Their must be someone knocking about in a PL or Championship reserves who will come here and play and can make an impact we won't have to pay their whole wage either.

I don't buy this idea that we can't get players in that or that they wont want to come. their will always be players who will want to come and play here. They might not be of the best standard all they have to do is get us above the relegation line and that will be enough.

Getting a Premier League striker, that'd be nice, not even have to pay most of their wage either? Hmm, best ring Shez and let him know of this great idea you have.

Sorry for being sarcastic, I guess at least its a positive post but lets be real, this is not going to happen.

  8. Maybe, but the reality is that Burton were non league only a few years ago and now they have left us trailing in their wake.

This club has been absolutely run into the ground.

But you don't want to look at Tranmere and Stockport? Who knows where the likes of Burton will be in 5 years. At least we know what we have (at least for the time being)

  9. We've already bought the scoreboard though. Or at least it is at the ground.

I do think it's a bit cheeky to ask for donations for something which will earn the club (or the owners) more money.

I'd want assurances the money would go towards playing budgets.

Erm, isnt this how a football club works? People pay to get in, the more pay the better the product on the pitch becomes and more people pay and the club improves all over with more people turning up again. No different to buying a product of any other company, you expect the product to improve and the company to make more money.

  10. Well if you think you are a Creditor because you have a season ticket, go and make your demands to OAFC rather than bleat on here as if you are being hard done by. As a Creditor you are paid every week and on time at 3pm, granted your payment is not exactly up to scratch at the moment but there is never a promise of what your ticket on match days will supply, other than a "match". There is no reason to believe you wont be paid on time again this Saturday

  11.

I disagree. Within reason, we do have a right. My money (irrelevant how minimal) has gone into the club. I still have X amount of games left on my Season Ticket. I have a right to know if the club will exist tomorrow. You can call that extreme...wasn't what Chris Moore did extreme and no-one saw it coming. Sounds like some folk didn't give a :censored: what Moore did because hey, he can do what he likes...morally, it is wrong. Right at this moment, I am a creditor of the club, But it sounds like you get :censored: all for having morals these days...and I bet most of those saying they can do what they like with the finances were up in arms over the Ched Evans signing!

Because you buy a can of Coca Cola every day on your day to work you do not have a right to know what their accounts say. I'm sure Latics will be here tomorrow and at the end of the season. That is pretty obvious. As stated, I doubt he'll have sacked Dunn and employed Shez with an attitude of closure.

I think we are going way over the top here about the clubs finances.
