  1. If? Ridiculous if we dont.

I am intending on travelling S.America for a year after Christmas, mainly Peru and Bolivia, but I do plan on making the trip to Brazil once the summer comes. I shall be travelling with a young Polish lass who hasnt realised yet that the WC is on, wondering how far towards Brazil we will get before she realises my sneaky plan :D

  2. 1990 I was 10 and Oldham gave me a real experience of loving football, England did great and it was my first experience of a World Cup, generally though looking back it wasnt all that great.

As an unbiased view I really enjoyed the '94 finals. Followed Ireland through it and beating Italy was fantastic, watching Maradonna make his drug fueled come back, Baggio and the Brazilian front line. Stoichkov and Hagi, not to mentioned Columbias build up from their previous qualifications who were highly tipped as a favorite only to end up laughing stocks (until Escobars early departure from the world). Just brilliant football all round from every game. Only thing that let the whole tournament down was the lack of Englands presence.

  3. The only thing keeping him in the team must be that TP thinks smith cant do 90 minutes and sees him as an impact player.

This is what I think and agree, not defending Iwelumo, hes :censored:e from what Ive seen but I think if we started with Smith he would have been found out after 20mins and Everton would be laughing at us for the rest of the game. Smith has been proving me wrong of late (and lets hope it continues) but he still has alot to prove.

  4. Fantastic support guys, came across really well on the box. We have certainly made a name for ourselves in Lincolnshire. Everybody has been commenting on our run, from the barmaids who have been wearing my Oldham shirts during games to supporters from plenty of different teams watching us last night. Even the ladies darts team stopped for a short while and gave us a cheer. Its been too many a year since Ive seen people notice Oldham and see how proud I am of the club. Lets remember we still gave Everton a good game and theyre the 6th best team in England. 3rd if you look at Jan to Jan results.

  5. We havent got anything left I bet, anything we have earnt along the way was already just going into the coffers dragging the bank balance back towards 0 rather than in the red. Its not like Corney has been saving this money seperately in a piggy bank and we can pull it all out at the end of the cup run and say oh look we have £1m or whatever the figure might have been. Its gone. Forget about the money and be grateful its contributed to keeping OAFC alive for another year +

  6. Christ now youre asking. I was only 10 at the time but had been going to Latics for about 4 years and recall alot of that era pretty well but I think the League Cup final had in me awe so much that it feels like a hazy dream, I recall we went on the coach with my whole family (normally it was just me and my dad) and seeing Forest Coaches over take us en route (this is strange though as I cant for the life of me understand why a coach from Oldham and a coach from Nottingham would even cross paths getting to Wembley. I recall parking up outside but not walking up Wembley way.... Strange.

Inside the ground seeing the teams walk out, making lots of noise and Nigel Gemsons goal going in and thinking/knowing that was it, we wouldnt come back this time and do the impossible :( I dont recall the journey home either, maybe I started drinking from an early age hence my awful memory.
