So if say the £31 was handed over as a £20 note, a £10 note and a £1 coin, the turnstile operator had to remove from his other takings £7 to tally the number of clicks with the gate receipts for VAT purposes. If he had the organisational ability to keep each of the surplus £7 separate, he's too clever to be a banker and he could do a better job of running the country's economy than George Osborne.
At BP in the 1950s, I and three other lads (including two who formed The Oldham Tinkers) were admitted to the Chaddy End two at a time on one click of the turnstile. Inside the ground we were approached by a plain-clothes policeman who asked us to confirm what had happened and took our details. In due course we had a day off school to appear as witnesses at Oldham Magistrates' Court when the turnstile operator was found guilty of theft.
I gave him a 10 note and 2 coins then when he offered to let me through too i gave him a 20 note and he gave me a 1 coin back! Tbh looking at the state of his 'area' it was so disorganised notes and coins everywhere ,but my feeling wasnt of anybody 'pocketing' cash - more of ' do they know how many people are getting in'
-
The shoved them at the other end and gave them a bit of the south stand too, by the looks of it.

So they do have the capability to actually organise things properly then!

Looking through yesterdays programme i see preston took 2706 fans in sept - if the stand holds 2100 i wonder what sort of planning went into housing that lot?
-
He might but if one of the adults who didn't get in when their kid(s) did makes a serious complaint to both Bury and the police then maybe someone will see his initiative and he will last a lot longer.
I agree - i fully expected to pay my daughter through (my mate had already gone through and was waiting for her) then go to the other turnstile and pay there- he just asked if i was coming in as well - as you said a bit of initiative and (whisper it) common sense!
-
I get you.
His turnstile clicked twice. He has to hand over £24. The other £7 will go wherever he chooses!
He had money everywhere! All over the counter top - a gust of wind and that cash is gone! He did actually comment about tidying it up as i was passing through.
-
I'm sure the chap on the turnstile operator enjoyed a couple of pints on his extra £7. I doubt Bury FC will see it!
No mate! She is 6 and i'm 44! My point was each turnstile had different prices but this fella saw common sense and just took the money and let us both through the same one.

Dads and Lads turn up to watch the game,
Lads go in their turnstyle - no queue - and get in
Dads go in their turnstyle - massive queue - Don't get in.
Police and Stewards don't care and their reply was " you are not a responsible parent letting your child in on their own"
Tell me ;- Is there a turnstyle where both dad n lad can get in together - NO
Absolutely pathetic.
I took my little girl to the 12 quid turnstile and to my surprise the bloke behind the counter asked if i was going in too! So i gave him 31 notes and in we both went.

Bouzanis can count himself lucky after the treatment Brill got, he's a better keeper, but his season hasn't be too dissimilar to Brill's for us in terms of mistakes. He's made them on a regular basis this season! I don't boo or shout abuse at players during games, but people always will, he's paid enough to be able to take it on the chin and get on with it!
I can't agree he makes 'mistakes on a regular basis' tbh i can only recall the colchester one...
-
To be fair to bouzanis he was completly shafted by his teammates - they lost the ball, brown was stranded and their LEFT BACK had half a pitch to run at! I know bouzy played the hokeykokey a bit but christ what do you do? The lb did take the goal well though..
-
When he was assistant at rochdale - they used to call him 'velcro arse' - sat on the bench with arms folded etc.. sounds like a version of taggart!

Everything LJ said yesterday, was apparent tonight, high tempo, pressing, quality balls into danger areas. Most pleasing was not giving up once the attacks broke down, the 2nd goal came from a good 2nd phase cross. Time and again we had long periods of pressure. We had a ropey 20 minute spell at the start of the 2nd half but Baxter's cracker came just at the right time. Special mentions for Corey Smith who looks a player, everything goes in front of him, Tarky had a very good game against the old war-horse Howard and Barnard ran his blood to water.
Manager Watch:
Constant reassurance, coaching and direction from the sideline. Lots of interaction with TP, CB and PG. Subs at exactly the right times, and it couldn't have gone any better for him.
His shoes were a bit :censored: though….
Dickov claimed the players couldn't follow or listen to instructions, well bugger me they did tonight and reaped the rewards. Not getting carried away, Saturday and Easter Monday are absolutely huge and for the system to work properly, we do need genuine pace up front. So please that Jose got back to free role where he does so much damage.
The crowd:
Very supportive, the quick-fire goals helped but the reception for the new guy was respectful. Understandably nervy when Hartlepool had more possession at the start of the 2nd half. The 3rd goal was crucial and thankully everyone relaxed once that went in.
Bouzy - Very little to do 6
Brown - Pushed on more, less hoofing looked calmer 7
M'Voto - Dominant, bullied a little at times by Howard but a decent night's work 7
Tarky - Odd iffy moment, but dominated Howard once he went one on one with him. Arguably MOM but i'm giving it Barney 8
Grounds - Back to his old self, found time and space put a couple of cracking crosses in 7
Croft - A good hour then bollocksed, more crosses than recently and couple of efforts on goal 7
Smith - A very good footballer, forward pass every time. Sticks his foot in 8
Wes - Looks more like his old self, getting stuck in kept it simple 7
Baxter - Much more relaxed when he can play off the cuff, cracking goal and a threat all night 8
Simpson - More like his old self when he can be arsed, put a real shift in. Great header for the all important first goal. 7
Barnard - Ran his arse off all night, especially when the supporting cast dropped deeper in that ropey spell. Deserved a goal for sheer effort and central to allowing the other three behind him to get up field. My MOM 9
Subs:
Millar - couple of cracking crosses again 6
Iwelumo - Little impact, game was won perhaps should have scored had he reacted quicker to an excellent cross from the left 5
Obita - Came on at the right time, couple of decent runs, and a cross that CI shopuld have stuck in had be been more mobile 6
All in all encouraging, it's a foundation. 9 cup finals remain…..
Re the shoes...there was a bit of banter with someone in the main stand: said person suggested a pair of doc martins and johnson responded along the lines of " nah cuban heels"
He does actually look really short! he made Kirk miller looked tall!
-
At times the back four played like 'old arsenal' ! Step forward in a line with an arm up for offside - i can't remember the last time i saw so many from a latics ream! But overall they seemed to be pretty well organised - no dogslegs!! Just a few too many backpasses for my liking...
-
EVERYONE in the ground (and possibly the world) knew he would attempt to chip it !
-
Millar put more crosses into the box than croft yesterday FACT.;)
-
They will no doubt be 'banana' rating the latest releases at the cinema "chilling" out after such an exerting afternoon.
-
What a :censored: thread won loads of headers flick ins and layed off for fun, no :censored:er near him or in around him that's the problem not Iwelumo 6 or 7 worse than him today. I weep at out fans today some know :censored:ALL about football...
Agreed
-
At times first half especially,it was like watching amateurs..hoof the ball..all chase..hoof back..all chase etc..
Awful
-
There were many worse than him today.
And this is still a :censored: thread.
+1
Here's a question: would matt smith have had more joy today than iwelumo given that the service was HOOF from miniute 1? Cos i dont think any player can feed off that :censored:e except maybe john fashanu..
-
Dont forget a midfield that allows the opposition AT LEAST one clean run through on goal per game.
-
Umpalumpa our best player. FFS he was the worst player on the pitch.
Really? Worse than 'headless chickens' croft and brown? Hmm all about opinions innit...
-
At the miniute i would accept anyone till the end of the season. This lot need a different voice without favourites...croft and obita both subbed today both shaking their damn heads in the process...disrespectful...
-
*urgently looks for something to gripe about*
What a stupid name.
-
cotterill is coaching at QPR....Steve Cotterill or ID for me I think Cotterill would be good at steadying the ship and I think ID would bring a good future only two I can think of at the moment
-
My biggest concern with cisak is his mobility - at times he runs as if he has a wooden leg! A sort of strange limp - and he's really slow off the line. His best quality is his 'shot stopping' (as long as he can stand still on his line and not have to move for the ball).

Well as he is only on loan i think we can assume that he will be leaving at the end of the season.
But he is a poacher and has plenty of pace -playing on the shoulder of the defender is where he should be utilised but as usual our service from everywhere is generally woeful.
