  1. I think you will find that the money went to pay off the Club's overdraft.

I'm not going to defend the guy because he ruined the Club but if all he was bothered about was getting quick cash (for himself), why did he sell Fitz Hall to Southampton for a smaller fee (but with a big sell-on clause which eventually netted OAFC a further £750k) when he had a higher cash offer from elsewhere?

Incidentally, Dowie wanted to take the higher cash offer as it meant he got a bigger cut. This was about the time he was accusing Jarvis and Joy of "lining their own pockets".

From I remember at the time IC Cardiff and Everton both had higher fee's accepted but Fitz was already talking to Southampton and went there (since his girlfriend lived down there), Moore's sis and mate approved the deal. The selling of Armstrong to Sheff Utd was more cloudy (trying to think of a word that won't get me sued) with Moore's business partner on their board.

Moore could have killed the club any time that summer, it might feel better to think that the transfer and season ticket money went into his back pocket but in reality what he did kept us going.

  2. Well first off I didn't cheer when McDonald went off, and I didn't get involved in the adulation for Hughes either.

The fact that you think McDonald did anything on saturday really sums it all up, he was anonymous from kick off to substitution.

LL, I agree with what you say about the ref, he was gunning for Hughes from the get go, but I'm afraid thats going to happen time and again.

I don't think McDonald was great at all, but I think he did more than Hughes and had more attempts on goal than Hughes (not exactly hard though).

  3. Oh really, so you are the original all seeing eye then? You chose not to see, because you're only ever going to watch the guy with one eye, others are wrong and your bob on, quality Coco you seriously couldn't make it up.

McDonald was cheered off on Sat yet put in a far better shift, hell he even had more than one shot on goal, yet Hughes received a standing ovation.

Did he deserve that for what he did at the weekend?

  4. Way to get the team going, way to get their spirits up.

There are too many people like you at Boundary Park every saturday.

Humans dont react to negativity, they act with positivity and belief.

Paying or not, if i were sat near you i'd tell you to shut up and get behind the team.

Well you wouldn't because if you had read my post you would see that I don't boo.

  5. I still find it amazing that "supporters" after 4 games are so happy to give an individual stick/abuse. Is it jealousy? The fact that regardless of who it is that they are doing something we'd all love to do! Or are these "supporters" football purists, who have all played the game at the highest level and can really see the players' mistakes!

Do they see the 'off the ball' runs that Ricketts makes, yet never is found by the pass of jp or allott or even kk, as they are only 3rd division footballers!!

Or do they just judge him by the fact that he doesn't cover the same ground that a player with very limited ability - paul warne - can cover.

Remember last year Latics fans in their droves "worshipped" Warney (rightly so for his effort), yet i'm sure even he would give his right arm to have some of Ricketts' ability.

    Frustrating - yes

    Ability - not in question.

Get behind him for ffffff :rant.sml: sake

Saying that coco is right - you pay your money............

Ricketts won't match what Warne scored last season, mark my words.

  6. So you're one of the boo-boys i take it? What do you expect when you go and watch Latics, for them to play like Barcelona with Ricketts scoring a hat-trick every game? We're in the 3rd tier of english football, the players are bound to make mistakes, and it's the fans job to encourage them and keep their heads up, not too give them grief.

Don't assume things, I don't boo anyone don't paying customers have the right to show there feelings if they believe a player is giving his all or are unhappy with the teams performance.

  7. Ricketts is better than Beckford. He wasnt in the England team for nothing.

He didnt score a goal ever third game for Bolton in the premiership for being rubbish.

He has had his fair share of injuries in the last few years. Let him get fully match fit.

His positional play is too good for us, the players we have cannot spot it. This is why he played in the top two tiers for the last seven years.

Ricketts is a brilliant player, if he hadnt got injured the first time round, he would still be playing in the premiership at the top of his game. He has been brought up by some of the best football coaches around.

You cannot simply write that off.

Coco, switch off the 'negativity' channel once in a while ey?

Brilliant? He wasn't binned from Boro and Leeds because of injury, he was binned because he was crap.

  8. And I've given Ricketts a fair chance, it just annoys me to see posts claiming him to be 'a class act' and 'an incredible footballing brain' when he's nothing of the sort. How can he still be so far behind others in fitness? He barely wins anything when challenged by a defender, spends the whole match moaning to the ref and has done ONE THING of note since he joined.
