  1. Gerrard rushed himself back from a pulled calf muscle so he could play towards the end because everyone else had dropped out. He then re injured the same calf and people criticise him for being injured.

Alongside that people wanting Clarke to come back (not 2016 Clarke) the player who couldn't get a game for Bury when they were bottom of the league.

We love tearing people apart don't we!?

Seen a few people say similar to this - why would we cease to exist?

Well due to the fact that we were placed under an embargo for going over our budget.....before the season started, not showing any sign of income other than this investor, if it doesn't pan out then what's next administration? Then liquidation? We were close before and we were a lot more of a commodity then. I know it's worse case scenario and it sounds pessimistic but we can only tread water for so long

  3. I can't help but feel that today could be one of the biggest defining moments in our clubs history

My brother and I are both lifelong Oldham fans who don't and have never lived in Oldham, and last night we had a conversation on what happens if worse case scenario we don't get taken over and we cease to exist (it isn't a major leap from where we are now.) A horrendous thought and we were in agreement that it would probably end our interest in football.

Interested to know what others would do if it got to that point?

  4. I would much rather hear the manager speak like this after a loss, than spewing some "we will take it day by day and get better" bullshit, he sounded like a fan who was totally invested!

Why after 2 games has everyone started questioning the manager we all wanted? Just relax if it's the same in January then yes panic but right now there's a whole lotta football to be played

  5. Man gets job

    Man is successful at job

Man gets offered a better job

Man is successful at new job

Man makes big error in judgement (but is cleared of any wrong doing)

    Gets fired from job

    Man gets old job back

This is a story the world over! When he left us and was seen at Scunthorpe what was he supposed to do? Corney had let him go, so in fairness he was no longer ours to dictate to! Because we weren't told isn't his fault or his responsibility!

Let's enjoy the fact that we finally have an identity and a team/staff that is ours and made up of "Oldhamers" instead of no marks who try to ruin us! I finally feel our Oldham has come back to us!

  6. At the moment attack wise Holloway is the focal point and in turn takes a battering every game. Little knocks become bigger and he has to miss a couple of weeks.

Next season hopefully we can have a few different threats and take the target off his back

  7. Anyone who follows NFL knows the team who have had the greatest success in the last decade are the New England Patriots whose coach preaches "Do your job." Shez says the same things case and point strikers are asked to be a striker, defenders the same. It's about knowing what is being asked of you and doing it. The players at the this level are athletic enough but maybe not clever enough, maybe by outlining their job no more no less you take that out of the equation. I think Sheridan has hit onto a something that works at this level for this club and I can't see why he would change.

  8. Chris Taylor raises a point that myself and my brother have been discussing for a while

He has a 5 year old son who all of a sudden has decided that he only wants to wear a Latics shirt and his favourite player is Lee Erwin. My response is you have to steer him away from Erwin and point him towards someone like Taylor, someone who you can identify as "Oldham" but again he might not be here in 4 weeks time.

Its such a shame nowadays that kids don't have that player or players who you know you can get on the back of your shirt because they will be here for the foreseeable.

I think a club like Oldham needs these players who you remember as an adult as being "Oldham" Taylor fits this bill!

  9. Without being negative I think the point people are making is; being happy we are signing players does not mask the fact that 2 months of pre season was completely wasted and we have had a complete fire sale of all saleable assets, put this alongside the best thing to happen to us in a long time (Sheridan) leaving due to, allegedly, the board.

Let's not get caught up with all the excitement of signing players because these are replacements not bolstering a side. I really hope we do well, I love Oldham but to contradict all the teams someone has mentioned previously ie Leicester Iceland etc they weren't cobbled together 3 weeks before the season. The team that springs to mind who is a more relevant comparison....Blackpool

  10. The lad has lost his way and has wasted what could have been a massive season for him.

At the start of the season I was convinced he was going to have a good season, after last season and the fact he was in with a shout of playing at the Euros what more motivation did he need?

In my opinion he should go, maybe for himself as much as us. I'm hard pushed to make a case for keeping many of the players who have been here the last 2-3 years including Winchester

  11. Coleman - his indecision is permeating through the team, made a good save, couldn't really do anything for the goals.

Wilson - totally lost, didn't know when to stay or go.

Gerrard - did well in the air had a right job on trying to cover Wilson.

Dieng - steady, didn't do much wrong.

Mills - came into a little more in the second half but as always lightweight and looked short of fitness.

Dummigan - Got no help and was completely battered by Done

Palmer - neat and tidy, was a one man band for most of the game

Winchester - Really disappointed in him today, went missing the whole first half, looks a level below Palmer.

Jones - not sure what his role was, he was neither a holding midfielder or an offensive midfielder, goes backwards too often, going through the motions.

Forte - Not fit, Not a striker, doesn't have the instincts, if he worked a channel he wasn't able to then get close to Holloway. Based on today's performance I think he's finished.

Holloway - industrious, there centre halves couldn't handle him, such a pity he had no one to play off.

Main - looked lively and one thing twice in the 2nd half he laid it off wide and charged in the box and the cross was poor. Great effort from outside the box that hit the bar, needs one to go in.

Thiele - not for me, lightweight, lacking pace, was off with a few touches. Hope he improves but basing it on that it's a miss.

Wilson - definitely not a CM didn't notice he'd come on until near the end.

Need to write this one off quickly and get back to basics Tuesday
