We lose money though. Unless there are other sources of income, we're only an attractive proposition to someone who's arsed about the club. I've no doubt Corney wants what's best for us but the only reason he's here is because there were other money making opportunities when they bought us originally.
It might not have worked but it doesn't look as though those opportunities are there anymore. BP used to be a "goldmine" didn't it? The only asset we had (the land) has alreasy been built on and is nothing to do with Oldham Athletic.
The fact is though when the stand is built we have opportunities to bring money into the club 7 days a week - okay the realist says that's not going to happen but it will be extra money into the pot

Kevin friend - Shefield Wednesday in C1cup
Woolmer - Shefield united (h) (anyone seeing a pattern)
And
For old times sake
Lee Probert - Liverpool - should have sent off Stirling and many petty decisions
But the winner is obviously
Micheal - Everton (a) - Gibson (handball), giving a foul every time smudge jumped , I could continue
-
Whoever has picked this date is a goodun
Also on the 24th is the Lancashire vs Yorkshire T20 at old Trafford
Good luck trying to sell those tickets
-
Can I ask - what is this Brassbank that everyone keeps mentioning
-
I thought I heard that he wanted to move Salford to BP as he had disputes with Trafford council and the stadium owners

Not quite, IIRC. I'm pretty sure that LJ believes that Winchester could turn out to be a quality RB, not that he would have to play there to be in with a shout. If wrong, I stand corrected.
I may have mis interpreted what he said but that is how I read it

The idea of raising money for Playershare through the Prediction League was thought about some time ago, but we hadn't sufficient time to introduce it for last season. It's taken a fair bit of planning to get it all together and we always believed it was only fair that those who are able to contribute should get something in return. We were equally aware that not everyone can, or would wish, to pay to enter. We hoped that running the two Leagues side by side would please the majority.
You'd be surprised how long it can take to produce the tables after every game, having ploughed through and checked every post. That process is going to take even longer this coming season, having introduced another League and a Cup competition, which hadn't existed before. Whilst we do this willingly in our own time, we really can't add any more into it. Time just doesn't allow it.
Please don't think that we don't appreciate the input; we do, and who knows what may be possible in the future.
Much appricated for the effort that you and Steve put in running the league - after writing this I noticed the pinned thread on the notice board
But - I apologise if it appears that I am interfering but I am trying to make things easier for you on the admin side;
Continue with just the one league but for those that are contesting the prize simply have (P) after their name and continue the cup as a extra incentive for those who pay.

Where does Rooney if signed fit into this ? I can't see a slot for him - unless Baxter moves into midfield.
Interesting that the consensus seems to be we made and solid start. I thought we showed a lot of promise.
And we have more to come:
Yet Dayton only played for 1/2 hour
Oxley did not play
1 or 2 Centre-backs to be signed
Maybe a RB and/or another striker
So we have quite a bit more to come in.
A bit of steel and guile needed, especially in defence. For me, besides not enough goals, we let too many sloppy goals last season, and looked weak yesterday, so critical we strengthen.
2 points - 1. LJ said he Winchester may have to play in RB if he wants to get into the team
2. Hopefully LJ knows that José is not a central midfielder. He only needs to watch the 3 televised cup games and then the , comparison with the Hartlepool home game to know where José's best position, the old fashioned number 10

Now after the immediate hurrah after the proposed takeover I'd like to give a element of normality
It seems to have all gone quiet over it. Has anyone heard about this and is it on, off or was it ever in the pipeline??
-
By doing this though you are restricting members to:
1. Those with a bank account
2. Those who can afford it
And people cannot join midway through the season as they are a a disadvantage
I am all in favour of raising money for player share so I propose a paying optional league;
Pay into the player share completion if wanted and qualify for the prize but keep the league going as a bit of fun with those who have payed having a mark on the league table
This way all parties are kept happy and the league is accessible by all and is kept going as what I presume it was set up for in the first place - a bit of fun
-
I'm glad Chris Moore has taken over - a man of that much business nouce and money is just what we need to get us in the prem.
By 2007 we will be a stable premier league club
-
Just a side note
How long will it take for our wonderful website to crash??
My bets are on 2 minutes
-
Why would we go for an untested, unproven, never managed a game in his life manager.
Once again latics showing no ambition we will be non league by 1986
What we need is someone like that Fergurson from Aberdeen - he has proved he can win trophies and so he will get us promoted
(The 82' equiverlant to #) Royle out
-
Matty sheep sheep sheep
-
Does anyone know why the club needs two passport photos for junior season tickets??
When asked for them I was baffled
-
Anyone notice that there was no Bouzy, Taylor or Jacob??
-
Hull, Wigan, Blackpool,Bolton,Blackburn, stoke or Leeds are all posibilities
-
Is there a need for it.
We know he can still play but to do this he needs a decent number 2
Any thoughts???

Fergie coming to us as LJ's number 2
He's bringing Scholes and Phil Neville with him
-
he had tricky feet and was quick but so so lightweight, would be blown off the ball by a gust of wind
not for me either prozac
That lightweight I think Winchester could out muscle him
-
I thought SC put a realistic spin on things.
First time for everything
-
Specific games
Brown vs Walsall (a)
Iwelumo vs Everton (a)
M'voto vs Crawley (a)
Other nominees
Obita bar MK Dons (h) and Everton (h)
Iwelumo
Cisak
Robbie Simpson bar Liverpool (h) and Forest (a)
Wabara - whenever at CB
But the winner is
Paul Dickov - tactically nieve, loving city rejects and the inability to play youth to the point where he would rather play people out of position than give the youngsters a chance
-
Seriously? The return of the prodigal ginger son?
Sure he's signed a new 1 year deal at Millwall?
2 year

Dean Brill
Craig davies possibly returning to bp...

That would be good but it does worry me that LJ seems to be preparing himself for losing José.
