  1. Despite recent results and performances, today is a very sad day for me.

I know there has been a clamour over the last week or so and I had my own say last weekend, but I do have a lot of sympathy and time for the man.

I think this is the right decision for all concerned and at least, as I said last week, it gives the new man 9 games to try to turn things round and try to get us back into the playoffs.

Thanks John for all your efforts. Your time here as a player will not be forgotten especially when you came out of retirement in our hour of need despite your knee condition. Your work with the youngsters has seen several good products progress to the youth team and when you took over, you gave us our club back. It may have soured in recent months, with fans calling for you to go, but hopefully you will draw on the experience of the last 3 years and come back to the game again. I hope you do.

And Finally, I am sure when everyone has had time to reflect and a little water has passed under the bridge, you will be warmly welcomed back at BP on match days to receive the applause that your time with us richly deserves.

Once again, I thank you and good luck.

    Cheers,

    Harry

Spot on. Thanks John, good luck in the future B)

  2. how did he do at bury?? anybody know any bury fans what have said out or on any forums

if he has done well it would be nice to see him come back fresh and sharp all the great things about loan systems

no goals as far as i know, but my local rag were reporting alan knill's fears about losing him and suggested they were very keen to retain his services. i think he had a lively game last saturday by all accounts

  3. by rights i should be a bolton fan, my dad took me on new years day in the late 80's to watch oldham play blackburn because he was impressed with the football we were playing. bolton were in the basement division back then. i just stuck with oldham since then, even though i have no connection with the town at all. i still see a lot of bolton games and they are a close second team

  4. Fergie blamed the grey kit for getting beaten by Southampton years ago - apparently the players could not see each other as the kit blended into the background. But they should have been able to clearly see the red and white striped shirts that scored 3 goals against them.

Excuses - that is all it is.

i was thinking about that very match the other day. much to my shame i went to a match at old trafford, and what with the red seats, largely red hoardings, and all the boxfresh red replica shirts, the home team were quite difficult to pick out against the backdrop. i think its a poor excuse, if the leeds fans are so concerned about misleading players they should under no circumstances go to the game in white

this away kit of ours is growing on me

  5. rings a bell? movebitch.gif

 no not at all. don't know if you seen a replay yet, was one of those dumb ones where they go to push the other player with the head rather than a butt. not the sort of thing to do while the ref has hold of you! i guess zidane would argue that if you are going to get sent off for a butt, make it a good one!

  6. I stand firm... Someone who has done something like this should not be called up to their national team the day afterwards...

you don't think there's a whiff of over-reaction here? what else should happen, where does the punishment stop, should he be made to perform self-flagellation, maybe he could wear an albatross around his neck for the rest of the season. he got a red-card, he over-reacted in a split-second with a stupid gesture (that's all it was). he'll know he let the team and the manager and the fans, and i'm sure he'll knuckle down and come back brighter. i hope allessandra makes himself irreplaceable in the meantime

  7. Gregan did one good thing then one awdul thing, then one good thing etc.

the gap between the sublime and ridiculous was split seconds, you'd get halfway through praising him for something by the time he'd sliced it to one of their forwards

he recovered well in the second half

  8. And to be fair Fleming gave it back to him. Why do so many people have the hump about Gregan being vocal to other players? They're big boys, they can take it.

I actually think Fleming started that one, having a pop at Gregan for putting it out for the corner when he wasn't sure. He has a right to have a go back, he dealt with it. I think the important thing is that it leads people to think about their game.

I'd sooner have vocal players than timid ones, and I think it's a good sign that we have a few
