Fane has been one of our most consistent performers this season, I'm surprised at the amount of grief he still gets.
-
Doyle is the fifth top scorer in the league, despite 3 months out. Ridiculous
Byrne was excellent coming on in his best position, changed the game. Gardner and Fane also good. It wasn't a classic performance by any means, but at this stage of the season that doesn't matter. Massive win given the results around us
On the flip side I thought, a few spells in the first half aside, Blackpool where very poor. I wouldn't be surprised if they get dragged into it in the final few weeks

Every club has them, tools who are just there for a piss up and to give it the big I am.
Absolutely, and there was plenty of bellends on the other side too. But some of the scenes after the game left a particular nasty taste, and overshadowed the game to some extent. Which maybe isn't a bad thing because I thought we were shit

Sleep it off fella

Aye I nearly got caught up in some of that shit aswell we really do have some massive bellends that attach themselves to our club as a result we couldnt get into any of the pubs in the town centre after the game either.
Its not like its kids either these were middle aged men who really should know better. If Im honest I didnt actually enjoy today partly because of it
We got lucky, we made it to the trackside where they don't sell Strongbow Dark Fruits so thankfully it was never in any danger of being closed.
I can't be partisan today though, there was a large number of proper weapons present today following our club and it's an embarrassment. And like you say, not just kids. Fuck 'em
-
Completely embarrassed having to walk behind some of the mutants who follow our club into the town centre after the game. I'd sooner be taking a 500 proper fans than some of the snide stone island wearing tossers who were there today. The majority of our support is obviously great but the twats kicking off after the game can swivel

Millwall of the north? Great.
Just about to leave for Paris so should I board up our house before we go or will your 1980s section manage to keep their hands to themselves?
Hundreds of pounds worth of improvements etc etc

Apparently he was sacked when the new owner found out he called his parking space 'the Gee spot'

I agree about Pringle, he's a bit of a nothing player and hasn't strengthened the team whatsoever. Strange signing. Gardener needs some time out too, he's been very poor recently.
At home especially we need to go two up top and get at the opposition. It's maybe a bit old fashioned at this point I think we need to go back to basics, two wide lads, two big centre forwards, get it wide as often as possible and stretch teams. We're far too slow through the middle

Pringle was getting dog’s abuse after cutting back inside a couple of times and yet still continued to ignore Nepo. The sarcastic cheer when he finally got a touch said it all. One of the strangest debacles I’ve witnessed at BP, like he was genuinely invisible, very weird.
Pringle was the main culprit, at one point he had his head up and Nepo was 5 yards away in clear space, and instead he decided to turn back into midfield and try and beat two men. There's some extremely thick footballers in this squad which unfortunately is why we are where we are.
-
Has Nepo done a John Terry on the entire starting 11? That 10-15 minutes where they flat out refused to pass to him despite him being in miles of space was just bizarre
Wellens needs to find a proper shape. I don't think even the players knew what our formation was in the first half.

Yes, and fold the club, and self immolate myself

Thought Davies was bullied by Wood really. A pumped up Davies can be unplayable at this level, we just don't see it very often.
He's genuinely one of the thickest footballers I've ever seen play. The talent has always been there, he's just infuriatingly stupid. His decision making at times is atrocious

They were happy to settle for a point in second half.
Pringle should come on for the run.
We need a left footed left back to do what Dummigan does on the right.
I reckon Nepo could play there quite comfortably.
-
I dunno, I just like footballers who don't spend most of the game being bullied off the ball, and the rest of it either losing possession or being caught offside. Fair play, he scores the odd goal

The same Davies that got us a point rather than none?
The same Davies that spent 70% of the game on his arse

I liked the look of him. Could be an asset once he gets up to speed

Rotherham fans singing 'Oldham's a shithole' without a hint of irony was a highlight. The rest of the game made me want to commit seppuku. Two dreadful sides, I thought Rotherham looked even worse than us, how on earth are they 8th?
Two new lads looked tidy, Fane MotM by a country mile. Davies is a waste of a shirt
-
He is/was by far and away out most important player. The worry is that it might take another 15/20 years again to find another striker as good as him again.
-
I didn't go today but I just want to say that I effing love Doyle. Arguably the best striker we've had in my time watching Latics (albeit not an illustrious list). I always feel we've got a chance with him on the pitch. 12 goals and it's not even Christmas ffs!
-
"Dayvan, would you say it's time for Oldham fans to crack open each other's skulls and feast on the goo inside?"
"Yes I would Kent"
-
celebrated this news almost as much as yesterday's win
-
Doyle is the best striker I've seen in 20 years of watching Latics. Maybe not the greatest compliment all things considered, but the man is different gravy. That second goal of his was something else, the fact he's had time to spot their keeper off his line, and then actually executed it the way he did. Wow. If we keep him in January we're going places

It was a funny feeling coming away from a defeat not feeling too disheartened or pessimistic. The first 20 minutes were dire, but we improved a lot after were in previous seasons and probably even a few weeks ago we'd have folded completely and lost by a few more. Conceding pretty much straight after scoring is unforgivable though and the defence is a concern.
Daft as it sounds it may be a blessing, as it gives Wellens his first real test as manager and a chance to assess and reassess. It's a test I'm confident he'll pass with flying colours.
Also i thought they were a very decent side and I reckon they'll be right up there come May

He's not a world beater, but he's definitely more of an asset than no marks like Pringle etc
