  1. I'm going to be more blunt actually because I can't stand him; Ollie Banks is shit. Properly shit. One of the worst players I've seen play for Latics, and a coward to boot. Why he's being brought up after we've won four on the trot without him I don't know

    fuck off Banks

  2. Awesome performance, unfair to really pick anyone out today but i thought Davies, Gardner and Fane were immense today. I've not really read the whole thread but are people still really suggesting Banks the non-league player (well, pub league player) is better than Fane?

I haven't mentioned Byrne in that group because he's an absolute class above. What a joy to watch, the best player we've had in years

if Wellens doesn't get the job it's a travesty

...I think your post here sums the situation up perfectly well....

...but two games later and others would have you believe we've got the 2nd coming on our hands.... it's madness.

That's nonsense though, the only one using hyperbole here is you.

People are simply pointing out that it makes no sense to appoint one inexperienced manager with no track record to speak of over another who has come in, got a reaction from the players and a couple of results and already knows the club and players, just because the former has a 'higher profile', which as far as I'm aware counts for absolutely cock all when it comes to management

...this is kinda the point isn't it.... Sky, BBC, talkSport, they're all over it cos of who it is..... he can help to raise the profile of the club and as a result could be good for investment / attracting a better quality of player.... he could be absolute dross as well, it's a total gamble...

...what astounds me somewhat, is the absolute clamour for Wellens. Before the Peterborough game, people were scoffing at him being given the job, the cheap option, like Dean Holden, they shouted. He wins 3 [three] games and all of a sudden he's the fkin messiah. Think about that, 3 [three], not 300, or even 30. One, Two, Three. End.

People need to calm down. He's still just as much a risk as Scholes. They probably have the same qualification/credentials to be a manager..... neither is better, not worse than the other.... however one win hands down in terms of profile, which takes me back to my first sentence.... this is kinda the point isn't it.....

Personally, I'd happy with either..... and delighted with Scholes as manager and Wellens as assistant.

He's won three games in a row with a team that had previously won one all season (all whilst playing some brilliant football), has obviously got a reaction from the players and he already knows the club/players. I think the argument is that it's pretty redundant to give it to another inexperienced manager in Scholes just because he's a name

  5. I thought Doyle and Gardner were our best players, and the other two lads in midfield also looked promising. It's no coincidence once Banks went off we looked better, he has to be the worst player in this entire division, an absolute wet blanket of a footballer. Gerrard can sling it too

Plenty off positives though. We might actually have a proper striker!!

oh, also one of the worst refereeing performances I've ever seen

  6. I don't understand how anyone could applaud that shite off today. That was one the most disgusting disgusting displays I've seen following this club for 20 years now (I'm 26). A spirited ten minute spell doesn't make up for the most gutless display I've ever watched supporting Latics. I not only paid £22 to watch that shit, I had to shell out another £20 in a black cab cause the fucking trains weren't running. Fuck off Latics

  7. I didn't bother today, because no way am I paying £24 to watch a result I could've predicted days ago, or to watch any team in which Ollie fucking Banks is STILL getting a starting role.

I'm going to Blackpool next week for some reason. I hope at least half of these '5 or 6 players' Shez was on about make an appearance
