Congratulations

Sums up all what's still wrong with British football. Rely on size and strength and raw passion rather than skill ability and desire.
Throw money in to the mix with the youngsters and u start to realise why we are :censored:.
I watch a lot of kids football, dribbling not taught, how to controla ball isn't taught. A lot get bollocked for trying a trick or a dribble. Do we not want to be entertained? I'm sick of this turgid position passing or boot it to the big man let's get some flair back in the game and don't jump on there backs if 1 goes wrong

Mines er where I live and er who I support ?

One of my local games these days with Coventry Walsall and port Vale. Bringing my 7 year old lad for a bit of education
-
Holden a side, johnsons a bit like Alan Pardew his teams are either on long unbeaten runs or long losing streaks hard to fathom

Will miss my first match in ages today, not feeling well. I'll listen to Latics Player in bed and hope that and all your after match views give me a tonic.
Get well soon ?

With not much said I'm thinking he mite only be announced he is here till the end of the season to try n keep us up if can.

Crusoe - appreciate what you are saying but that wasn't my point to be fair. Plenty of people have said things like, "he no longer cares" or "be happy to see us in the lower division on a lower budget; they think that's our true level", "left us to sink" - today's activity blatantly shows none of that to be true. They are fighting tooth and nail to keep us in the division (and, no doubt, people will have their own theories as to why that is).
I just think, just every now and then, a little credit is deserved. As a Latics fan I am grateful for today's events (and there are plenty of things previously I wasn't happy about). Today is a better day than yesterday - that'll do for me for now.[/quote
Surely he got the credit last season this is more Einstein definition of insanity but hopefully we do get the same result

In the light of the club not commenting further could I suggest an alternative press release?
"A proud old club under a transfer embargo and in its lowest position for 60 years has today appointed its 7th manager in 30 months after going cap in hand to an out of work former employee who is now at his 5th club in 18 months having lost his last 11 competitive games. The chairman however denied it was a low point in the club's history"
Just saying, and retreating behind sand bags
Quality ???

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/10677715/your-clubs-record-scorer-ranked
Sky have ranked the clubs all time leading scores. Roger Palmers in at 62 which I don't think is bad for someone who wasn't always played as striker and the last few seasons was more a super sub. Plus a lot of the guys were penalty/freekick takers.
Oh for a Roger Palmer now

Going back to the administration point, it's difficult to see that happening as we are actively looking to recruit, if the embargo isn't lifted and nobody signs it may well become an option.
Sometime you don't have a choice it can become illegal to trade if you continually can't pay your bills as they fall....insolvent

How would that work? And why didn't they do it years ago?
Just maybe not everything was in place and protected? 5 year plans and all that?

I'm 40 I only ever new Latics in the top 2 divisions.I hoped for an immediate return to the premier league, then I hoped for an immediate return to the championship. I hoped it would be a breif stay in the 3rd league but 20 years later here we are. I never felt we was fighting above our weight in the old 2nd division so don't understand really why we should be struggling season in season out in the 3rd we should at very least be a stable league 1 team.

I'm full of praise for nonaenever kicking this off, but haven't followed every single post within this thread. However, along with many others, I've sent a number of questions to be put forward, but can I make a serious and impassioned plea?
Whoever goes to this meeting, please remember that you are representing fans and supporters of OAFC. You will be recorded; everything you say will be there for all to see and hear, so please act and behave in a responsible way. There's enough personal, verbal attacks on SC and the Board on here and I would hate to see that transfer to the meeting room.
You are there to ask questions, not to vent your spleen. If you are not happy or satisfied with the answers you receive, query them in the right way. Don't just go on the attack. Please make sure that you deal with facts. There's enough posted on here as fact, when a large number of posts should really start with "I believe/think/suspect/imagine/assume/presume ..."
I would love to be there with like minded fans who only want the best for our football club, but please come away with a balanced view so that the rest of us can judge the outcome objectively. I have no right to ask for any of the above; I just believe that it is a great opportunity to be more informed about how the club is run. I honestly do not believe that many Chairmen would put themselves in this position. He's put himself up to be shot at, so deserves respect for that.
Well done to those that are going. I hope it goes well and also hope you come away in the right frame of mind and more understanding of the finer points of what goes on to keep OAFC going.
I dare say it will make Sky Sports News as well once the media find out.

It's false economy then.
I agree like Harry Bosh said approx 10million lost in lost crowd receipts over his tenure had there been something to shout about. Possibly more had we had a couple of championship.
-
5 months wages as apposed to 11 to 13 months possibly.
I belive it's that calculated
-
.Not comparable. Totally different scenarios.
Robinson was probably dealt the worst hand in the history of management. He had no players and no time.
Totally agree only caveat knowing he had been dealt a shirty hand could he have not gone for it more in games knowing he had a so called "get out of jail card" or has he had to be so defensive because he knew the players we had were not good enough?
-
Think he started his career as a promising centre half and I am sure when Robinson brought him in he said he could play both left back and left sided centre half
-
Never see the loss of away fans taken in to account. Jump up a league and it's regular 1k to 3k on the gate possible more for the Newcastle Villas of the world.
