  1. Latics isn't corneys club it's mine. I go to latics every week cos it's what I do. It's what I've always done and it's what I always will do. My dad took me from being 6 years old and I hope to take my children one day.

I don't enjoy it at the moment but I live by the hope we will once again see success one day.

The day I decide not to renew is the day this club dies. The powers that be will never get between me and my club

Could not agree more. The club is my church, my religion. Its tough at the moment and my 200 mile round trip from Grimsby is not an easy one. However, i will still be getting 3 season tickets as my contribution to keep this club solvent. Anyway, its a good reason to get over and see the family and friends back "home". If we give up now, we have no club to support and then i would be even more miserable. The club needs us all more than ever.

  2. My last point on the subject.

From when I last saw the Chairman close up - he certainly looked stressed and worn out as a person on the interview. Appreciate he's travelled a lot too and that may have contributed to his physical appearance.

Just think - on a human level - he needs to be given a bit of a break now from the battering he often takes.

    Over and out.

Totally agree. Credit where credit us due to SC for this interview. He clearly has the club at heart and strives on valiantly against all odds. Success is achieved through great effort but is not without error and shortcomings along the way. SC has today been open and honest and admitted he has made mistakes and I respect that. The critics on here, who i suspect have never experienced success nor defeat in any walk of life, now have the opportunity to meet SC and offer him their advice on how the club can be run better. I shall look forward to the day.

  3. We need a game that the fans turn out in force. Its one game, where the politics are put one side and we show our support to this club. Posh maybe too soon to publicise anything and raise awareness. For this to work, the trust, the club and local media need to come together for this "supporters" match. Make it fancy dress, get a few old boys along and some family entertainment and publicise that the club needs us all to come together.

  4. Basically it's all our fault for the unpaid bills. He said he wouldn't slag us off if we didn't pay our bills at home so we shouldn't do the same.. it's Rochdale's fault that we're under an embargo (because they leaked it). The man has officially lost it.

Also called out a few on here for speaking their mind and has welcomed them into the club to speak to him and for

    it to be recorded.

So when he can actually be bothered to be in the country again, I'd love to be invited in to take him to task. Anyone else?

You must have listened to a different interview to me. Found that to be an open, honest and refreshing. A chairman who accepts making mistakes but who cares and is trying hard to move the club forward with limited resources. He seeks investment but has to be right for the club. We have cash flow problems but are not alone. And an invitation to meet him from those who love to criticise - over to you!

OAFC needs the fans right now to rally. We cannot rely on someone coming in with pots of cash. Lets pick a game and drag as many along as we can to show our support and that we do still care.

  5. I realise I am being optimistic. It would be done properly with legal undertakings that the money was used "correctly" (and "correctly" would have to be decided). I just feel it's time to rally round and support "the club" - not kick it when it's down. I want to be able to watch Latics for years to come - I`m sure many others do too. As I`ve said the long-term issues of ownership will sort themselves out in due course.

If this was done legally through the trust or similar, with complete transparacy, i would give the £100. The fans are the one constant in any club and i feel if we want a future now is the time to stand up and be counted. Not everyone is as fortunate so A TENNER or whatever is fine.

The TTA amigos saved this club once and i appreciate that but that sentiment is long gone. I am not happy how the club is run and the "no comment" from OAFC saddens me. Maybe if the club came clean the fans would rally round.

Whatever, i am a supporter and want a club to watch. Hence, happy to play a part.

  6. Seems that no matter what this club attempts, it gets criticised. They consulted the fans and acted on the feedback. Not sure what more they can do. Yes the club is on its arse but i would rather have a club that may turn things round one day than no club at all. WE are not unique, lots of clubs are in a similar situation and i live in hope that things will improve. Its tough at the moment and may be for the foreseeable but i applaud the club for trying. I remain positive.

  7. The club has listened and implemented a change in direct response to the survey. It cannot do much more at this stage of the season. The fans have a part to play and hopefully a few more will go to the games. I think it has to be a team effort to stop the decline and we cannot just rely on the board whatever we think of them and there is no rich benefactor coming to bail us out. I appreciate the product is poor at the moment but fair play, the club has listened and took a very brave step in my opinion. I hope it works because i would be very sad if the club folds. THe fact is if we want a club to support, the fans need to do thir bit, forget the politics, and support this initiative by turning up. If this fails, i fear for the future of OAFC. I agree with boundary blue, get this offer advertised across the town. I live in grimsby and the local paper advertises regular offers for the Mariners and their support reflects it.

  8. A Charlton fans view. Sounds familiar.

Charlton were completely outplayed last night by Oldham who really should have won by 2 or 3 clear goals. No disrespect is meant to Oldham, but I suspect at the end of the season they will still be near the relegation zone. That doesn’t augur well for us , does it ? For the last 20 minutes last night, Oldham had all the possession, pinned us back in our half and created numerous chances.

Comparisons between seasons and teams is always very difficult, but I am struggling to recall a worse Charlton team in the last 50 years. It is true that we have some talented players. Last night, for example young Konza demonstrated why he and Lookman will both will be leaving soon.

Bauer , Holmes & Magennis look OK. The biggest problem that anyone can see is that the central midfield of Jackson, Crofts, Foley , Ulvestadt is completely lacking in creativity, power, pace and energy. Lookman excepted , the goal threat up top is also almost non existent.

So with no goals from midfield, not much of a goal threat up front, virtually no link up play, we resort to kicking it long to the big man who has no support.

I don’t know who is responsible for this mess. I like Slade, he seems to be honest and straightforward and at least he doesn’t speak in riddles like Luzon/Riga/Fraeye. I hope that he stays and turns it around, but with the midfield playing staff currently available to him , it seems unlikely. The club knew that we were going to lose Cousins and Gudmundson and in the event we also lost Diarra and Harriot. Kashi is injured and Ba is out of favour which means that our midfield picks itself with 3 or 4 guys , none of whom will be playing for us next season.

Since we cannot get players in until January, it looks like a very bleak Autumn is in store unless a Regan Charles Cook or someone else from the Under 23s steps up like Poyet did a couple of years ago.

  9. Yeah, but we haven't done that on a consistent basis at home for a good 7 odd years. Should fans just not bother until that miraculously happens? There's nothing worse than attending a football match with no atmosphere, and the future's bleak if you can't attract young fans. There's nothing wrong with trying to add to the efforts that the Athletico lads are making...

Suggest the club give 1000 tickets to local schools for midweek and "less attractive" home games and fill the family enclosures. If some buy a pie and a programme the club still gains financially. The club has to do something to get new young fans in the ground.

Also let ST holders bring a friend to midweek games when crowds are lower.

The support is dwindling and the club need to offer incentives to get new (And old) fans in the ground.

  10. Taking this thread off at abit of a tangent slightly just watched MOTD and West Brom had a number of empty seats today just had a quick scan on there MB it's not the price it's £25 they are bored of the football.

My point here is this, while clean sheets are good if it's not backed up by wins and goals at the other end the fans will get frustrated with it.[/quot

After years of struggle, a good solid foundation with some positive results will do for me. At least you have a chance that way. I travel 100 miles to a home game which has seemed a lot longer in recent seasons. Its early days but I now go to bp with some optimism. Hopefully, once the wingers get fit, the strikers will start to fire and the excitement levels increase. For now, quite satisfied.

  11. The management appointments seem positive and the early signings all seem good. No one can argue if SC runs the club on a break even approach, thats the football business at this level. If we want the "break even" threshold to be raised, we the fans need to attend matches and support the club as much as we can. Lets face it, the team over the last few years struggled. I think a clear out was needed and new blood brought in. Starting to look forward to the season now.

  12. Another pic of the 'walk'

This with the stand named the "sponser" Jimmy Frizzell stand would work for me. I know we have the named bricks but are they really that stand out / obvious?

A legends concourse in front of the North Stand would get my vote. Combined with attractive lighting, this could be a very njice feature. I have procured similar signs through my job and this would be an affordable option which is not beyond the realms of a supporter funded scheme. Naming the stand after this legend would also be a fantastic gesture, although naming the supporters bar or one of the function rooms may be a more realistic option for the owners.
