Said no Judge, ever
Relevance (outside of a courtroom) please?
-
So you have a total and utter disregard for the entire legal system and any judgement it ever came to because you wasn't sat in the court room. Your a bit bat :censored: crazy you know
It would be bat :censored: crazy to assume the infallibility of a judge and jury. I always reserve judgemement until I think I know enough of the facts. You might remember that I don't do the faith thing.
If not having faith makes me crazy in your eyes then so be it.

I can't believe your ignorance. Are you for real, sir or madam?
No. I'm a figment of your imagination. Stay off the hallucinogens.
He is now able to show remorse for how he admittedly behaved towards the young girl, but he doesn't.
He regrets cheating on his girlfriend. Everything else he doesn't accept any guilt towards. If he is correct in his innocence then the only thing that he did which is wrong is the cheating part. This is a private matter and yet he has publicly apologised for this.
He is able to show remorse for the situation she has consequently found herself in, but he doesn't. He is able to ask his supporters to stop villifying her, and to stop attacking Jessica Ennis. He can do all those things while still believing himself innocent of the crime he has been convicted of. He has done none of those things.
So your particular take on the "he's shown no remorse" soundbite is that he needs to ask his supporters to stop hounding certain people. I'll grant you that he could do that. Maybe it would be a wise and noble thing to do. But this is not what most people are referring to when thy talking about his "lack of remorse"
"He has served his incarceration" - what on earth is that supposed to mean? He has not yet served his sentence. He is on licence. And he is on the sex offenders register for 15 years or more. He could go straight back inside tomorrow if he puts a foot wrong.
So what? He's not inside anymore. He should be allowed to resume his chosen career. I so no good reason why that career can't be as a footballer.
And the only reason he is guilty is because a jury found him guilty? Correct.
Says it all. I need more than that to form an opinion on someone's guilt.
-
Go on then. Disagree with some reasoned argument. Please.
Tell us how he has shown remorse if you think that's wrong.
Tell us how he has served his time if you think he has.
Tell us what on earth "guilt beyond the jury's verdict" means!
1) What reasoned argument?
2) I've said it at least 5 times now and so have others. Why would he show remorse if he believes he didn't do it? It beggars belief that people don't get this.
3) He has served his incarceration. This to me is the only relevant factor. Who cares if he can't go abroad?
4) The only "fact" provided by this journalist that supports the notion of Ched Evans' guilt is that of the jury's verdict.
-
To be frank I am not surprised we have a different view on this subject. We do on most things.
That's a very odd statement to make 0000. I don't think we've conversed in years. Maybe a rebuttal would be in order if you think i'm wrong.
-
Been struggling to find the one article that totally sums up my feelings on the subject.
Found it. Perfectly highlights my feelings on it all.
It's the same old trite and irrelevant nonsense I'm afraid. I was yawning all the way through it.
No remorse (seriously people need to stop saying this.....it sounds SO stupid). Footballers are role models. He hasn't "technically" served his time. Absolutely nothing in the "facts" stated that indicate guilt beyond the jury's verdict.
I would struggle to disagree more.

To some people it would send the wrong message to the younger generation of girls... ala Katie price
What message is that?
"If you have a certain look, then when you are older you can choose to do some modelling if you want to."
I see no problem and no hypocrisy here.
-
I think Lukers point was her take on role models etc... shes in the public eye and gets her kit off...
Not that I agree with any talk of role models in football regarding Ched Evans, but why is Charlie Webster getting her kit off relevant to her being a role model?
-
Id want to sign him just to shut that Charlie Webster up.. How can she talk after appearing in a photo shoot with hardly any clothes on.... Some people have to back off there very high horse.
Why is her lack of wearing clothes at all relevant, Lukers?

This (insert pejorative here) mob justice lover has written an open letter to Mike Ashley requesting he withdraw his sponsorhip of our club.

Peoole forgetting hughes left 2 people for dead.
They don't forget.
We just seem to currently live in a world where an alleged rape consisting of "was she too drunk or wasn't she too drunk to consent" is considered more unforgivable than operating a powerful and incredibly dangerous machine under the influence of drugs and fleeing the scene of the crime with no thought to the soon to be dead victims.
-
I can't see how Ed Milliband has anything to say about this that is more relevant than anyone on here. Fair enough people in the papers discussing the matter and the wider issues, but political soundbites don't get us anywhere
Well he showed himself to be a pleb anyway by spewing up the trite and irrelevant "he's shown no remorse" soundbite. I was under the impression that these political people have advisors to help guard against getting their feet in their mouths.

Lol biggest pile of bollocks since someone mentioned an unsinkable ship called the titanic.
You've got a long memory.

Evans hasn't shown an iota of remorse for his actions.
I'm sick of hearing this. He's been convicted of a crime for which he claims innocence. If he believes that he is innocent, why would he show remorse? Why should he show remorse? This particular criticism makes no sense.
He sounds very much to me like he thinks he can treat women however he pleases without consequences, arguably the most vile product of 'Lad culture'. His crime was appalling, his conduct since almost as bad.Utter twaddle. Pseudo psychological guesswork based on nothing but your own opinion that he's guilty.
I believe the phrase is "innocent until found guilty" - well he's been found guilty, and that's what I'll believe until such a time that the conviction is overturned!
Good to see you are so open minded.
-
Still think to be a professional sports person in the public eye you should have to obtain an enhanced crb this would stop all of this nonsense they are role models at the end of the day.
At the end of the day....they are footballers.

Did you really type that?
Yes I did. And I'll type it again. Cocaine use IS NOT a moral/ethical issue.
As people on here condone signing a convicted rapists as they have a wife/Mother/Daughter etc,
Which is not an argument I respect. See my previous post regarding gender tribalism.
are you saying that if your wife/Mother/Daughter was a coke fiend you would be fine with that?
Whether or not I would be happy with a loved being addicted to Coke is irrelevant to the morality of the situation. Or do you reject the idea of personal liberty?
Don't kick a ball out for a throw in (spot fixing) but feel free to snort a load of columbian marching powder???
One is unethical and the other is a personal choice.
-
I can understand why it doesn't sit well with some people but I don't buy the whole moral/ethics thing when you think of previous players and what they have done/been accused of;
Grobbelaar - Match fixing.
Billy Kenny - Cocaine use.
Lee Hughes - Death by dangerous driving.
Cristian Montano - Match fixing and rape.
It's not I ventured territory.
How is Cocaine use a moral/ethical issue? It isn't.
And Montano's problems did not come to light until after his career with us was over
-
Most "in the know" reporters and press are saying its Oldham now.
I've met Corney and Johnson; both seemed really nice blokes and want the best for our club. The want success and are extremely driven but not for a minute would I believe they would sign a convicted rapist regardless of however they try and package it tomorrow at the conference (should it be us).
Johnson has a daughter FFS - I have two and I wouldn't for a second sign him especially after his unrepentant stance after he was released. The victim has gone through hell and even if he felt he was innocent he should have publicly stated his sorrow for all parties - no remorse whatsoever. Total scumbag.
Barry will be there using his ex-copper position spouting his "everyone deserves a second chance" rubbish. I hope he doesn't use us signing Lee Hughes to describe our club as a rehabilitation for players wishing to turn their life around and make up for the "errors" made in their life.
I wonder what Jenny will do and whether her position becomes untenable? Same goes with Mrs Johnson, Mrs Corney and the other wives and daughters of those who feed from the boardroom trough each game?!
Aside from everything else you've said, your post is full of sentiments that I find sexist and tribalistic.
I never understand why people come out with stuff like this. Why do people think like this? Aren't we all human beings?

Just spotted this quality piece of journalism on the BBC. Thought I'd quote it before it disappears
Oldham defender James Wilson is suspended after collecting five yellow cards, but fellow centre-back George Elokobi has returned to full training.
Jabo Ibehre (thigh) is a doubt but captain Adam Lockwood (knee) and Rhys Turner (hamstring) are out.
Doncaster Rovers have fitness concerns over midfielders James Coppinger and Paul Keegan and defender Enda Stephens.
Theo Robinson is likely to keep his place up front after scoring against Barnsley on Tuesday.
The game will be the first time Paul Dickov has faced Oldham since he left the Latics in February 2013.

-
Can't we just send a guy with a video camera and a live feed back home, so that hardly anyone is financing this pathetic excuse of an establishment?
This is one club in the world that I actually despise.
-
I have no sympathy whatsoever for any Oldham fans who went in the sandy lane end jumped up when we scored and promptly got twated. Nor do I have any sympathy for those who did the same at Stockport or Bury.
Or any City Leeds Man U fans who have been in the home ends at Latics and proceeded to be on the end of a good kicking.
Yes, because the fair and appropriate reaction to someone celebrating a goal is "a good kicking".
-
How would they get 150K for him when he's out of contract in the summer?
