  1. I can't make it down to BP tonight so hoping to listen on th'wireless, does anybody know who's on Bolton FM tonight? Surely the Beeb haven't squandered more of my licence fee on a jolly to Suffolk for James Wagg & Co have they?

  2. Yes as far as I'm concerned it was. Back then my Satudays consisted of and usually in this order:

    1. Saint & Greavsie on the box

    2. A few pints and a catch up in the Clayton Arms

    3. Into the Chaddy End at 14:59, grab a Bovril and a programme for 80p

    4. Stand in the singing corner and enjoy some great football

    5. Back into the Clayton Arms for a few pints and more singing (win or lose)

    6. Head home and pick up a football pink on the way

    7. Fray Bentos pie for tea

  3. Well I rocked up at the Fleetwood ticket office at 14:50 with my cover story ready in case they asked any probing questions to then be asked which end I'd like to sit in, home or away? Er, away was my reply and promptly took my place in the seats with the Latics fans. Result!

Nice club, nice ground, nice staff oh and very nice result.

  4. Oh - and my opinion on City's away support? My cousin is a mad City fan - and he describes their away support as incredible. Personally, I haven't a clue - except I remember them taking over BP in the 80s before wrecking the place - think the RRE was full by about 1.30pm - so they climbed on pitch and went into the Ford Stand before starting to rip all the seats out - utter mayhem.

I remember this match well, 20th April 1984. Match ended 2-2 and did that bugger City's promotion up?

Was my first season at Latics that as an 8 year old and remember stood behind the wall (the old tunnel that went under the wooden steps) at the back of the Chaddy with my dad. I remember hiding behind him whilst hit kicked off in the Chaddy with my old man dishing out haymakers if any of those Neanderthal's came close to him and his boy.

  5. I've been reading on here as a guest with great interest for a few weeks now and as of today a new member. I think (hope) this whole un savoury story is just a monumental case of chinese whispers? After all our beloved Latics couldn't be so naive as to sign a player as toxic as Evans? Let's just see what happens (or hopefully doesn't happen) tomorrow before any more hasty negative reactions to the 'story' are posted.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
