I always thought the JK stood for Jack and Kate, does anyone know what happened to them or did I make
I think it was Jack Scott and his partner. I used to work in the same office in Manchester. Remember him saying it was all kicking off on his website when it was going pear shaped under Moores.

see today is the 40th anniversary of the great mans passing .my first latics hero as a kid a talent & entertainer that todays football so badly misses .what i would give to have someone of his ilk at boundary park now .
It is actually 41 years today, died whilst watching a World Cup game in 1978. Very sad day, the best entertainer I have seen at BP along with Stitch.

Beyond belief........like thinking you've bought a house and found you've only bought the garden. Perhaps he thought he was getting a bargain. No idea why due diligence took so long, what on earth were they checking - now turns out he wasn't buying what he thought and has debts that he was unaware of. Couldn't make this up. However he passed the EFL's "Fit & Proper" test which is reassuring

Sorry to hear the passing of Bernard the former Latics Secretary. I had the good fortune of meeting Bernard maybe 10 years ago in a work capacity and he was such a nice guy. Although associated with City for the past 40 years he still followed Latics and had many a story to tell of his time here.
RIP Bernard, a true gentleman

Might be as well to keep his mouth shut. He's just been fired for breach of contract and would suspect if he continues his twitter rants he'll be in breach of his contract again at CUFC. Can't imagine his new employers would be happy with him slagging off another club whilst representing them. With no appeal against his sacking I would imagine the PFA have thought he hasn't got a leg to stand on so to speak,

Sir Bruce Forsythe might be the next one on this thread. In intensive care with a chest infection. Not the sort of place an 98 year old will want to be.
National Treasure etc.
Think you've aged him - 89 at the last count. Looking for a Brucie bonus this week

Really sorry to hear this. I consider Futch & Richard Jobson the two finest centre halves I have seen at the club. A true footballing centre half. RIP Futch

Dowd, Wood, Whittle......
Knew that better than my ABC in school !
Harry was the first Latics goalie I remember when I first started going in '72. Goalies just never ventured outside the box in those days......except Harry. Apparently he was a plumber by trade and had little interest in football.

Some of these bring back great memories - one that hasn't been mentioned I don't think is Stainrods goal at Blackburn on his debut - beat the Blackburn defence on the by-line and then scored from an impossible angle. Marshalls goal v Notts County was probably the hardest shot I've ever seen live - seem to remember he said he hit it so hard cos he was angry - had we just conceded a late equliser ?
-
6 in second half v Plymouth - 1972 I think
-
Yes 1-1 at HT. 6 goals at the Chaddy End second half.
-
R.I.P Bobby
Blimey 82 - saw him play in the early 70's for us. Makes me feel old. Remember Bobby playing in a game v Plymouth in the pouring rain. Think we won 7 -1.
-
. I couldn't even tell you what his position was. In my mind I couldnt care less about his contribution to this club,
Ridiculous post.

Alan Groves for me. The best entertainer this club has ever had and is ever likely to have. David Eyres was a great player for us but not in the same league as Groves. Was probably also the player that made the difference in us winning the title in '74.
Would be fitting that Groves has a mention in one part of the ground where he would banter with the fans - the Ford Stand Paddock loved the guy.

Just heard an item on GMR saying the Salford Rugby owner Dr Marwan Koukash is in negotiations to take over a football club. Says he hopes to complete the deal within a couple of months. No idea if we are a possibility but it did cross my mind that we could be.
-
An article on Reeves in the MEN a couple of weeks ago said he had turned down contract offers from us and another club (can't remember who) because he would be financially worse off going full time.
-
Alan Groves was 15 out of 10 for entertainment. Hated him when he played for Bournemouth (before moving to Latics). Could not believe it when the Latics signed him, I was over the moon. Oh, for a player like that at BP again, and he was a third division player when we got him!
Read an interview with Harry Redknapp in the Telegraph in which he says Alan Groves was the most skilful footballer he has ever worked with. Incredible to think now that this was a player playing 3rd Division football at the time. Makes you weep when you think our current wingers can barely trap a ball.

Try Console Wizard in Bolton - I've had excellent service from them and they are not expensive. Will usually have your Xbox back in a couple of days - you can post it to them or better still just take it round to them.

Took mine over to him Wednesday evening and had it back Friday. Cost me £25 - Microsoft wanted £80. Really nice chap as well. Mine had 1 red light - E73 error or something.

Got FIFA this morning from Tesco - Asda had sold out by 9am apparently.
Not really played FIFA before as I'm a PES player but I'm impressed with this latest offering. Like the online side where you can play teams of similar standing - better than the usual Barca / Man U/ Real Madrid matches. Played Latics against some Polish side and managed a 3-0 win before he wanted a rematch and tonked me 5-1
-
Wont Asda be selling it for about £25?
Believe its £26.77 or something similar but only for 24 hours - after that it'll probably be £35.
Let the inquest begin.

Wasn’t it fantastic to see them and hear what it meant to everybody, players and fans alike. All of them saying it was the best bunch of lads they’d played with in their career.
