  1. According to some of the people on here, if you dont go to every home and away during the season you will not be regarded as a "Fan".

People will go when they can afford it, but by doing this it does not make them any less of a fan than these "Super Fans". Life is full of choices and choosing wether or not to go to a game is one of them.

I personally am stick and tired of reading these so called "Super Fans" putting other fans down just because they are not one of the "regulars":angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Actually, the word FAN derives from FANATIC (A person marked or motivated by an extreme, unreasoning enthusiasm, as for a cause.) or FANATICAL (Possessed with or motivated by excessive, irrational zeal.)

The key part of these definitions are UNREASONING and IRRATIONAL. So, I am afraid that if you choose not to go to a game then you are NOT A FAN.

I am not having a go, becuase I don't go to all games home and away, but I consider myself to be a Latics SUPPORTER. I support my team financially and vocally.

Those who don't go to the games, but will always watch every match on the telly - read the reports in the papers etc. to me are FOLLOWERS. They follow the fortunes of the team via the media, but do not financially SUPPORT the team and are not true FANS.

So I am sorry, but I don't think that you are a fan at all - never mind a SUPERFAN. This does not mean that you are not welcome, cannot have a view or anything similar.

  2. I resent the fact that it's been sugested I'm a boo boy/moaner because I'm not, and I don't see why choosing not to attend a fixture suggests I am. We all support Latics in our different ways, not everyone on this board goes to every game, but some do. What's important is that our team is Oldham Athletic and not for instance Manchester United, and when we choose to attend a football match it's BP we go too.

Typical Ginger Whinger.....I bet he would go if we ended up playing Doncaster in the Final at Wembley.....

We are probably better off without the fair weather supporters anyway

  3. He used to be landlord at the Crown and Shuttle in Firgrove (between Milnrow and Rochdale). He took a football in to the club and had it signed for my Dad. I got it as a Christmas present - must have been in the 1970s. Unfortunately, me and my brother played football with it all of Christmas Day and all the signatures had rubbed off on the carpet by Boxing Day

  4. Something to do with their lovers being used in the Lamb Hotpot served in the Exec Boxes?

On a serious note though, I boycotted Huddersfield a copule of seasons ago after they boycotted BP due to the price of admission.

Some HT fans are calling for a boycott because they are fed up with the owners and football versus rugby debate that has gone on for many years.

  5. I've supported the Latics for each of my 44 years on the planet (and will continue to do so) but, I can honestly say that, I am as passionate about Chonburi FC as I am about Oldham Athletic. It's the fact that I am physically able to attend the games.

There is a completely different atmosphere at Thai league matches. The fans mix happily and, at the end of the game, everyone, players, manager and supporters, come together and applaud each other's efforts. I love it.

It's a world away from the English Premier League.

    But there is no BOVRIL??

You'll be telling me that you are not hearded around by the Police and Stewards next...
