  1. I think the reality of having limited budget at a club that always loses a fortune each season is starting to sink in with most of us. KC has a major task on to assemble a squad with that budget, especially when he is in competition with other clubs with rich benefactors (eg Salford).

We also need to recognise that many fans are preferring to starve the club of funds as their protest against the owners . This is their perfect right to do if they wish but let's not kid ourselves that this has consequences when competing for players.

Keep working at it Keith...good luck!

  2. Isn't the simple fact that yes our team may be better with DW (if fit and bothered) would be better. However, when people have lost or are losing jobs, furloughed or taking pay cuts during Covid, one has to question what any owner of a business should do with their "leader" the highest earner, when they refuse to join everyone else and their team mates on helping the club survive. He need sot get a taste of real life out there at the moment?

At my firm, taking that stance wouldn't only get one "frozen out". Poor old DW, sitting there on his pay package, training with the youths. I've not got much sympathy tbh. His agent should move him on asap.

    Rant over!

Only one team with that aim. Witness anonymous twitter accounts, anonymous OWTB accounts, vague questioning techniques, select invitation only meetings and leaking letters.

FLG are miles more transparent, but yes backers revealed needed.

"FLG are miles more transparent, but yes backers revealed needed." - slight contradiction?

I don't really know why FLG refuse to let us know who they are if they are serious? What is to be gained in wearing the masks if they want us the fans to support them and their intentions?

  4. So it seems that a lot of people are going for the FLG and their still anonymous backers. Glad they are not needed to get our team on the pitch to fulfil our fixtures....even Bury and Bolton know who wants to buy them but for FLG it has to be a mystery...not sure why if they are bona-fide?

I'll stick with the devils I know until the lone ranger and tonto take their masks off!

Is the current club ownership clear and open to you? We know what Abdallah and Mo look like, what else? There seems to be a bit of mystery on their side as well

Please explain the bit of mystery? We all seem to know who they are when expressing our views on them.

I know who BB is but as for the masked men behind FLG...as Manuel said.....”I know nothing”.

  6. Catching up the posts it still seems some are still backing the as yet anonymous FLG  to carry on fragmenting the ownership of the ground? A targeted take over strategy by unknown funders and we are all expected to support it? For the moment I’ll stick with the least worst option of the guy who is funding / putting the Latics team on the pit. Not my ideal choice but until someone explains why there is such a big mystery why the masked raiders aren’t more open about why they want to own assets, yet are doing it out of the goodness of their hearts!

At the FLG meeting it was stated that the fire safety certificate has not yet been received for the seating area, and that is the responsibility of the club.

You are not telling me that the owners (FLG) of the Royle stand did not include the seats in their fire risk assessment? Why would you try and fob that part off on someone else? Fire doesn't choose?

They haven't asked for your support yet have they, just said it is their intention to seek fan investment?  Clearly there will have to be some flesh put on the plans and complete openness on who is involved before many will be persuaded to do so.

What's the big secret on who the anon members of the FLG are then?

It's not a question of whether we are better or worse off than under Vorney; I don't see any rational person hankering for a return to that regime.  The question is whether under this ownership there is a realistic prospect of firstly getting the club onto an even keel and then actually progressing. I see no signs of that being a likely outcome.

We can go down the this is the only game in town line and there are clearly elements of truth in that but it no longer is given the emergence of FLG.

Now Im not suggesting they have all the answers and I know they have said that they could not fund the day to day running but who do you think has the greater prospect of attracting support and getting all elements of the club to pull together?

    I've reached my conclusion.

Still waiting for the anonymous Lone Ranger and Tonto to show their faces. What have the FLG got to hide if they have all the answers except they can't fund the D2D running of the club....that's a good basis for seeking my support for a hostile takeover? Out of the frying pan springs to mind!

Don't we have enough problems with the season ahead without the anon gang playing Monopoly but without any money? Nice plans though......

  10. Personally I would like to welcome Laurent to Latics and wish him every success. I dread to think what he must think about the club and this group of "fans" he is joining if most of these posts were passed on to him (an translated if need before anyone else has yet another pop).

I'll judge him by what the he does and the impact he has on the coaching at the club and remember that he was not part of the "past" and to be honest he can't be worse than the quitter Scholes!

God help him at a meet the coach pre-season with some of the contributors on here! At least he's a fully qualified / badged coach unlike some of our historic crop of "managers"

    Good luck!

  11. The degree of negativity on this forum is staggering. Damned if he does and damned if he doesn't? Pessimism and negativity in most responses.

I'm personally pleased to see a plan / bit of strategy included, a couple of decent signings re-secured and a statement of direction from / for the club.

Do I expect all to happen? Only time will tell if we are all honest.

We can only watch this space. BUT please try and cheer up.

  12. Can’t gelieve we’re all still going on about this whinge session by an ex manager who was a real wimp and lost us the chance of the play offs. He sounds pathetic to listen to as he admits himself when he mentioned the things that Morecambe’ manager deals with. Also what happened to the what happens in desiring room stays in the dressing room? He was dumping big time on Missilou, Clarke and the owner on Sky of all places! None of the other pundits had the nous to tell him welcome to the real world of lower league and amateur football.

Compare this with PW, who has to live in the real world. COYB!

  13. The one thing I never see in print, interview or social media is Jack offering any apology for whatever breach(es) of club discipline he has done. Surely if he want's to get the fans on side and wants to play for FB and the first team, that would seem the easiest and most obvious way forward. Would test what FB and AL are saying about wanting players who are team players and committed to the club and togetherness the manager wants?

The silence from JB and/or any of his friends or the PFA is deafening. If he feels he has done nothing wrong (other that lazy and woeful performances last season along with others), he isn't do much to deny it?

I am sure we would all like to know and see a way forward one way or another?

Yep I agree. Everything points to this in the way this club has been run over recent years. Hope we're proved wrong...

We have a lot of students of history. Thought we had a new owner and anew manager? Also, someone else has assured that most of the staff are scrabbling to get out? The same group of staff which saw us relegated after 20years? Glad to see the changes top to bottom! Time to move on.......and look ahead? Maybe try a little optimism.....it's the owner's money not yours and mine at the end of the day.

  15. Congratulations on your appointment Frank! Welcome back to Latics and try and ignore the whiners and pessimists on here.

Most genuine supporters will be with you in seeking a fresh start. Neither you or (to be fair) the owner are fully responsible for the recent debacles in the club. Let’s park history and be positive.

I hope your excellent coaching skills, considerable experience in football (admittedly not as a manager) and mature style will help  you sort out some of the players and restore team and effort back into the squad.

I am sure other fans will be with and look forward to the new season and a contract extension to follow.

So, it’s a yes from me and good luck with the challenges ahead! COYB
