  1. Interesting thoughts on Taylor returning or not and at what wages? In his games this season fur us he may have filled a short but  seemed to be playing as if he was scared of the opposition. We ran a sweep stake on which minute (or half!) he would actually put in a proper tackle on someone. Seems to spend his time walking around on the pitch, especially compared with the rest of of his midfield colleagues. Shez kept picking him but interesting he was missing against Bolton.

Question is will he up his game / effort or not if he is with us permanently?

  2. I am pleased we have a manager but agree about loyalty. The problem with Shez is that having won everyone's support last season, he pointedly lied through his back teeth (could have keep his gob shut) face to face with all of us fans at the forum. Sad act! We then learn his agent is touting his name to anyone who will listen.

"Professional when he left"? Think not. Really embarrassed for letting supporters down and chasing the money. Same reason he's coming back.....failed worse than any manager at NC and not got a job.

Never been convinced with SR but with the hand he was dealt from day one, he has been the ne showing some professionalism not Shez.

That said, it's my club that is the priority so good luck in keeping us up.

  3. The fault here is the lack of quality amongst the players (Clarke excepted). Wenger wouldn't be able to get this squad firing. It had to be assembled in a matter of days late in the day and we are keen to blame the manager? I would prefer to stick with the manager and spend what meagre funds or salaries are available on getting him some better players to work with.

The judge how good he is when he at least something to work with (as all the other managers in this division do)?

  4. Sound like a great choice, good coach with an awareness of the level of players we can actually secure rather than an unrealistic wish list. Hope he can bring

If this is confirmed, congrats to the club after the money grabbers, Shez and Evans did their respective runners.

Running any business (what Latics if after all) on a shoestring is tough and at least the club has kept quiet despite all the rumours running around about all the potential candidates. No good business is domne through social media or the Chron!

Lets hope it is confirmed and then the new boss and his team, now Shirtliff is going back to USA with family, can get started with the squad, new and young!

  5. You miss the point. He paid for it with his own personal cash with the other two amigos. I don't see massive dividends coming out of the club every year on the shoe-string we live on. Also why would he want to sell it if it made money rather than lost it. Only need to look at his club's balance sheet. Glad it's not my business' figures. Of course he would like to sell it for what it stands them at, who wouldn't. Despite what some people think, he owns it and to be fair to him he has stuck with the task, many others haven't!

  6. I see we again have individuals who are keen to buy the club off Simon Corney and put their own money on the line.

No? You mean it's easier to just be on the side-lines and whinge and complain?

Get off the guy's back, he is far from making any money on this situation and I personally am grateful that he is keeping what is a nightmare financial and loss making position under some semblance of control. Yes, selling assets, making difficult decisions to get cash in to pay bills, dealing with a manager vacancy where the person you've contracted for several years ups and leaves (a good example of loyalty?) for the benefit of his wallet. I alos attended Shez's passionate rallying call to fans - load of hot air and rubbish?

I've seen what Moores' did to Latics when he did a runner (unlike Simon Corney) and will settle for our owner doing what any struggling business has to do in current times - SURVIVE! Until a buyer steps up if there is ever one.

Some people need to get into the real world of football and business where there is no money tree, not Disneyland! Unless you, the whinger (if the cap fits wear it) have a magic wand and can do better with your money?

  7. I am at a loss to see why Shez is not the one to blame for this.

    • He is the one who signed a two year contract?
    • He wasn't forced to sign?
    • He was the one who met and assured fans about the future with him as manager?
    • He drew up the retained list/?
    • Touting himself around every other club for more money is his decision with his agent? When he should be looking for new players for Latics?
    • Unless he's got less nous than I give him credit for, he must know the financial position of the club?

The club just have to suck up what he is doing or is it a ploy by Shez, (who is was one of my football heroes) to screw the club). He had me totally fooled with utterings about his commitment for our club. Well done Shez!?

  8. Please leave football alone. If the Premier League want less football, stop their lucrative foreign tours and competitions every time we have a break or out of season. Their players are never to fatigued for those and the long haul flights. 8 less games for clubs like Latics is a massive loss of income and therefore what we can spend on players and other costs. So, why don't the PL offer a bit more of their ever increasing mega millions down the football ladder rather than working out how to get their agenda through the back door. Can't see it happening and the league is not there to provide reserve facilities for the PL teams. Rant over for now!

  9. About time we face up to some truths about some of our players.....

Winchester.......clueless and a wimp. Can't and doesn't tackle and never wins a header despite being tall. Deceptive in that he is slower than he looks and has forgotten to run or pass forward.

Kelly...having to do too much all the time due to lazy team mates

James Wilson....we are seeing a player who no longer cares and wants away.....why Bristol City got rid

Coleman...a young keeper who has made errors but will get better

Dummigan.....quick, skilful but still young and gets injured. A good player who we should try and get permanently.

Wilson.....much better at CB than full back....glad he didn't go Notts County.

Deing.....young player doing a good job but under pressure every game due the lack of a dominant partner.

    Murphy.....lively but getting no service

Jones.....busy and hardworking. Rubbish at any corners or set pieces unless he's shooting

Cassidy......frustrating as can't jump at the right time even for a tall striker and can't control the ball when gets it

Lafferty......too slow and offers little going forward, prefer Mills as he can get forward and create

Forte....jury still out following his op....will we ever get a full game out of him again?

Poleon......now word head down and frustrating.

In summary, Shez has his work cut out but being the eternal optimist, I will keep the faith and hope he can secure some signings to improve the team and that he can build confidence which is sadly lacking from our shot shy team!

    Fingers crossed!!

  10. I hadn't heard of Darren when he was pointed but he is our manager and will have my full support for the new season. I will judge him by how we play over the first months of the season and the results we get. His badges and / or alleged lack of management experience are a bit irrelevant in reality. What I do believe is that he is far better for Latice than any re-cycled failure that happens to be on the market at the time we look for a manager.

Cant wait for the season proper to start!!

  11. I must remember when I want a successful business to look for someone who has never done the job and then pair him up with another learner with a shocking record who only got the job because others left. Wouldn't like my job to rely on such a cobbled together management team, so why should my favourite football club. Didn't expect Maurinho but at least someone who has managed higher than youth team! Tony P doesn't want the job but he has more experience than this guy!

Will still support my team but very disappointed and no wonder it was kept quiet until after ST sales.

  12. To terminate someone's employment, they have to commit gross misconduct. Bringing the club's name into disrepute was evident from the video and press coverage at the time. This is a criminal issue of guilt or innocence. It merely needs the club to have decided that "on the balance of probability" that Montana had brought our name into disrepute. If it turns out he was not proven guilty beyond all reasonable doubt (the legal threshold), it doesn't affect the employment decision.

So, doesn't matter what the police eventually decide, it was what went on at the time of the sacking and Latics acted correctly in my view, especially as I watched the game and saw the video!

  13. It took a jury 1 hour to decide unanimously he was guilty of rape. He and his family stil plead innocence and he has no remorse whatsoever for the woman he raped! How the hell anyone, especially husbands, sons, fathers could think he should be back at any footbal club seems happy to ignore what a low life he is. Not sure how any club are going to convince their female staff or supporters that this can be ignored, because he can kick a ball? Rant over!
