Colchester Chairman on long-term thinking

Attractive football, backing your manager, home grown players and a pleasant stadium, it may work across most of northern Europe but this model will never work in Division 1. The bloke's a madman. Fans want to see new faces every few months, players who have played for/loan to 6 or 7 clubs by the time they're 24. Players who have a record of mediocrity is what we want, we want certainty that a bigger club is not going to come in for any gems we would have otherwise developed and offer silly money. We need to establish an ethos of 'not losing' above entertainment because fans are results focussed and care not how this is achieved. Balmy I tell you, balmy.
