hello all, hope you're all hale & hearty and fret not, Latics will one day win again. I come to you with an appeal, so listen up here it comes....

I'm trying to get a groundswell of support going to try to get Oldham covered by the British Newspaper Archive. Obviously, given my username, I'd be hoping for WW1 or WW2 coverage but absolutely any time frame would be fantastic for all local historians. Would you all be able to spare a minute and help the history of Oldham be told? Just think you could learn all about Latics Reserves Central League campaign of 1924/25, how your great great grandfather ran amok on Yorkshire Street one Saturday night and much much much more!

You can see the Oldham suggestion on that page. There is another older Oldham one and an old one for the Oldham Chronicle too. You get 10 votes - after putting in your email address - so if you could give 3 to the one on that page and then if you have an extra minute the other two could get 3 votes also (although saying that the other two sometimes vanish). Don't try and give it more than 3 votes though or you'll end up accidentally downvoting. I've used that site quite a lot and it must be an absolute boon to local historians from other towns, maddening that mighty Oldham has been consistently overlooked. From looking at the votes on there somebody somewhere decided that Weston Super Mare should be covered and they've got their wish!

So c'mon - vote vote vote.

Ta v much for your time!
