NOTE: This information may be out of date in an ever-changing world.

Liverpool Football Club, Anfield Road, Liverpool, L4 0TH.

Away fans are located in the Anfield Road Stand at one end of the stadium. This stand is also shared with home supporters, some of whom will be sitting in the small seated tier above the away fans.

NOTE: Try to avoid getting tickets sold as ‘restricted view’, for the rear three or four rows of the Stand, as it can be difficult to see the goals with people standing up in front of you.

Outside the stadium, there are the Bill Shankly Gates on Anfield Road, with the phrase 'You'll Never Walk Alone' displayed above them, and the adjacent memorial to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster. There is also a statue of Bill Shankly near the Club Shop.

Disabled facilities:

Wheelchair Places: There 32 spaces available on a match to match basis. Eight of these are allocated to the away supporters and another two spaces are kept unused for emergency circumstances. 22 spaces are available for a general sale. There is availability for up to two personal assistants with the wheelchair. Wheelchair spaces are allocated in the Anfield road, paddock (lower main stand) and Kop.

How to get there:

By car:

Follow the M62 until you reach the end of the motorway (beware of a 50mph speed camera about a 1/4 of a mile from the end of the motorway). Then follow the A5058 towards Liverpool. After three miles turn left at the traffic lights into Utting Avenue (there is a McDonald’s on the corner of this junction). Proceed for one mile and then turn right at the Arkles pub (away fans) for the stadium.

From the North:

Leave the M6 at Junction 23 and take the A580 (East Lancashire Rd) signposted to Liverpool. Follow the A580, passing under the M57 (11 miles), then under a railway bridge (2.75 miles) and finally (0.75 mile later) turn left onto the A5058 (Queen’s Drive) towards Widnes. Proceed for 0.5 mile turning right at the lights into Utting Avenue. Pass under the railway bridge which continues into Arkles Lane. The stadium is just to the right at the far end of Arkles Lane.

From the South and South East:

At the Liverpool end of the M62, keep in the right hand lane and take the signs for A5058 (Queen’s Drive). Stay on the A5058 passing St. Matthew’s Church (2.5 miles) finally turning left (in 0.5 mile) at the lights into Utting Avenue (Asda should be just visible on the right as you approach the lights). Pass under the railway bridge which continues into Arkles Lane. The stadium is just to the right at the far end of Arkles Lane.

From the Wirral:

From the end of the M53 or A41, pass through one of the Mersey Tunnels (Toll Fare). Whichever tunnel you use you should take the A59 (North/Preston) as you leave the tunnel. Follow this road until you see signs for the A580 (St. Helens and Manchester). As you reach the junction where the A59 meets the A580, keep in the right hand lane (A580), which turns right after the lights onto a hill (Everton Valley). NOTE: this area is a residents' parking zone and a valid permit is required to park your car in any street within this vicinity.

As the road climbs up the hill at the start of the A580 (Everton Valley) keep in the right-hand lane. After the first set of traffic lights, use the right-hand filter lane to turn onto the A5089, sign-posted Anfield. The stadium is down this road (Walton Breck Road) on the left- hand side.

Parking:

The roads around the stadium get very congested towards kick-off and getting away after the game can take a while. The area is residential with lots of terraced houses in narrow streets. A residents-only parking scheme has been introduced in some streets around the stadium, so check any signs first. Parking restrictions are heavily enforced and cover every possible kick-off time.

Advice issued by Liverpool City Council:

The football match residents parking zones around Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs are for resident permit holders only. You may be approached on match days by people in yellow jackets illegally directing you to park on the public highway for a fee of £5. If you ask for a receipt, they will show you an empty receipt book and claim to have run out.

It is a particular problem for streets directly off Robson Street and Breckfield Road North. Merseyside Police are aware of this problem.

If you are approached by people claiming to be council staff and offering parking facilities in a residential street, this is likely to be bogus. The council does not operate any pay to park facilities within the football match parking zone and all council staff are issued with an ID badge and should provide it on demand.

If you park within a football match residents parking zone (FMPZ), you may be issued with a penalty charge notice.

Stanley Park Car Park (£8) is on Priory Road, off Utting Avenue. There are plenty of car parks within 5-15 min walk, in schools/industrial units, etc. These cost around £5-£7 (closer = more expensive). Otherwise it is an idea to park in the streets around Goodison Park and walk across Stanley Park to Anfield, or you can park in a secure parking area at Goodison itself which costs £10.

Parking provision is also available at The Dockers’ Club, home of Liverpool County Premier League side Waterloo Dock on Townsend Lane (A580) at a cost of £5. It is then a 15 minute walk to Anfield.

By train:

Liverpool Lime Street is over two miles from Anfield. Kirkdale station is the closest to the stadium (just under a mile away). However, it may be more advisable to go from Liverpool Lime Street to Liverpool Central or Moorfields, and then via Merseyrail Northern Line to Sandhills Station as this has the benefit of a bus service to Anfield, which runs for a couple of hours before and after a game and drops you within easy walking distance of the stadium.

NOTE: If buying train tickets in Liverpool, ask for a return to Anfield as opposed to Sandhills even though that's where you're getting off. The advantage of doing this is that the train ticket is valid also for the SoccerBus and the additional fare is only £1 return as opposed to £1 each way that you'd have to pay on the bus if you only bought your ticket to Sandhills.

Walking Directions From Kirkdale Station:

On exiting from Kirkdale Station turn right and then cross the railway bridge, you will see a pub opposite called the 'Melrose Abbey', (which has been recommended). Walk up Westminster Road, alongside the pub and continue along it, passing the Elm Tree pub. Follow the road around the right hand bend and then turn left into Bradwell Street. At the end of Bradwell Street you will come to the busy County Road (A59). Cross over this road at the traffic lights and then go down the road to the left of the Aldi superstore. At the end of this road you will reach the A580 Walton Lane. You should be able to see Goodison Park over on your left and Stanley Park in front of you. Cross Walton Lane and either enter Stanley Park following the footpath through the Park (keeping to the right), which will exit into Anfield Road and the away end. Or bear right down Walton Lane and then turn left down the road at the end of Stanley Park for the ground.

By bus:

From Queen Square Bus Station: Stand 6 (near Lime Street Station)- Route 17; Stand 8 - Routes 19/19A.

From the Liverpool ONE Bus Station (near Albert Dock): Stand 2 - Routes 19/19A; Stand 4 - Routes 17 & 26; Stand 8 - Route 27.

The journey takes about 15 to 25 minutes dependant on traffic. After the match, it can take about 50 minutes.

After the match, unless you’re driving or have a SoccerBus ticket, many supporters choose to walk back into town, as the regular Arriva/Stagecoach buses are overcrowded, and taxis can be difficult to hail. There is usually a string of 'private' buses parked up along Walton Breck Road (behind the Kop) which run to Lime Street, for between £2 and £3.

By taxi:

There are several taxi ranks in the city centre, with the biggest/busiest being those at Lime Street Station. There are also ranks at James Street Station, by the Adelphi Hotel, Whitechapel, Sir Thomas Street and Chinatown.

By coach:

The National Express coach station is located on Norton Street, just off London Road. From here it is a 3-4 minute walk past Lime Street Station to Queen Square, or 10 minute walk to Paradise Street Interchange, from where you can catch buses to the stadium. Take a 26/27 from Paradise St. Interchange or a 17/217 from Queen Square bus station directly to the ground. The 68/168 which operates between Bootle and Aigburth and the 14/19 (from Queen Square) also stop a short walk away from the stadium.

Where to drink:

Alcohol is available inside the stadium.

The Arkles pub, 77 Anfield Road, near to the stadium (see directions by car), is known as the pub for away fans, and therefore it can get extremely crowded. It has two big screens with excellent quality pictures along with other TVs. It is very popular, so getting served may take some time and you may even have to queue to get in.

The Flat Iron is a five minute walk from the stadium and is for home and away fans. Make it clear to the locals that “we’re not part of Manchester” and the Scousers will be OK. It is said to be rough-looking from the outside but brilliant inside. To find this pub, turn left at the junction where Arkles is (with the stadium over to your right down Anfield Road). Head away from the stadium and the pub is down on the right-hand side.

If you prefer a Wetherspoon’s outlet, the Thomas Frost, 177-187 Walton Road, is a large pub which welcomes away fans. It is around a 15 minute walk from Anfield and has a decent pre-match atmosphere. The pub is open from 8am so should be your pub of choice if the game is a lunch kick-off and you want a pint early in the morning! This pub also has the rare Wetherspoon’s facility of Sky Sports.

Where to eat:

Inside the stadium the refreshment kiosks sell a wide variety of burgers, hot dogs and pies, including a 'Scouse Pie'.

There is a good chippy opposite the Flat Iron pub, and there are also plenty of fast food places and kebab houses, etc., in the streets around the stadium.

Cash Machines:

NOTE: The ATMs around Anfield all charge for withdrawals.

Attractions and things to do:

On non-matchdays, the Club offers tours of the stadium. There is also a museum and combined tour & museum tickets, as well as individual museum entrance, are available. For details of family tickets and for making tour bookings call: 0151 260 6677 or Book Online.

The Museum features two film shows - the first is in a recreation of the standing Kop and tells the story of the Kopites. The other is a cinema showing 'One Night in May', a documentary about the Champions League Final in Istanbul.

The stadium tour takes you behind the scenes at Anfield, visiting the dressing rooms, down the tunnel to the sound of the crowd, a chance to touch the famous “This Is Anfield’ sign and sit in the team dug-out.
