He’ll take you on a magical mystery tour.
I get that he's just here to be a contrarian, but christ it gets dull doesn't it

Difference between wanting better and deserving better which many seem to fall down on.
No credit is ever given to the opposition for just being better on the day, it is always "We shouldn't be losing to these" "Totally unacceptable" etc etc
Anyone who thinks losing a 2 goal lead at home with 10 minutes left to a side with 10 men isn't unacceptable has basically given up completely, haven't they?
Plus, it's a fans forum. If you want balanced reporting watch Soccer Saturday ffs

That a large section of the fanbase is entitled...
Can you expand on this for once? How is a fanbase that has seen their club finish in the top 6 twice in almost 35 years, and not finish top half in 15 years, "entitled"?
Are they entitled for wanting better than the absolute bare minimum that they've seen for 3 decades?
It's not an unpopular opinion, it's just utter bollocks

No promotion in 30 years. No top half finish in 15 years. Currently at our lowest point in history. God forbid fans get a bit impatient for a bit of success eh?

Keep seeing those two names mentioned, big ask coming from low expectation, low pressure environments into the complete opposite.
Every manager has to make that step at some point if they're ambitious. They might even thrive with the better resources etc. Williamson can't even name a full bench at Gateshead.

Will they get the time from an impatient fanbase though?
If there's clear improvement and results then yes, absolutely

I know 1-2 have also mentioned him, but Greening has done an excellent job at Scarborough. He won promotion and had a third place finish. They're fifth in the National League North, so we'd need to get a move on, or we might be passing each other at the end of the season.
Yeah, I think someone like this or Mike Williamson at Gateshead (really liked the look of Gateshead when I've seen them) would be a good, ambitious appointment. It would be a considered move too, rather than the last 5 years of drawing names out of a hat

I don't see as many games as others Branno but my take would be that the coaching staff are happy to set up in a low block and have games played out in the realms of fine margins.
Yeah sounds about right in fairness. There is definitely a tactic there to go direct, I don't know if it isn't being coached right or the players aren't implementing it correctly but more often than not it's hoofed aimlessly forward rather than into Nuttall's feet/into the channel for Reid to chase

There seems to be a reasonable number of people who genuinely believe that players are being sent out with instructions to not close down, not tackle and boot the ball aimlessly upfield.
I don't understand or agree with their views on this but I respect their right to hold them.
Out of interest, what instructions do you believe they are being given?

That was absolute wank wasn't it? They're getting results because we have some good players for this level, but there's no game plan or direction there apart from "wing it". We're somehow in decent form but it all feels very short term and fragile, that could so easily have been a draw today. Everything else around the club at the moment is great which is why I'm still going, but on the pitch
To try and add some positivity, Reid is great. And Kitching had his best game for a bit. And the kebab from the truck in the RRE was

No it's correct, several players who have been consistently good for promotion winning teams are actually shit, and no manager would get a tune out of them (despite several managers for other clubs... getting a tune out of them).

So all these good players with good characters who have won all these promotions are all consistently underperforming at the same time and that's all down to the manager and his tactics? You'd think one or two might have been able to rise above it all given they are so good...
Spot on!

Winning promotion doesn't necessarily make you a good player individually, as we seeing play out on a weekly basis with this lot...
It shows they can contribute consistently to a well coached team though.

In last week's @BPASblog the ability of Yarney to nick ten yards on every throw in was praised... Professionalism or cheating?
Professionalism when Latics do it. Outrageous cheating when it's the opposition. In my opinion

Amazing what can be achieved with a proper midfield. Yarney looks a really good addition too. First 30 minutes was poor but much improved after the first goal. Good change by Unsworth to bring Abraham on just as they were getting on top too, it's not long ago he'd have gone defensive. Beating York at home is still the absolute bare minimum we should be expecting, but they're at least beginning to resemble a team.

Boycotting because of results and performances on the pitch? What a load of shite. It's just being a fairweather fan.
I'm not boycotting, I'm just not paying 22 quid to watch absolute shite. If that makes me a fairweather fan that's fine, I've seen us finish top half 5 times in my lifetime. Can't be arsed with it anymore

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the absolute worst manager our history. Sheer incompetence. But unfortunately he's going nowhere

Because thats what real football fans do.
City, newcastle, sunderland, leeds and many more stick with their clubs.
Its what you do.
I've been going for 26 years and have absolutely nothing to show for it. 5 top half finishes. None for 14 years. Every season worse than the last. This is the worst group of players and quite possibly manager we've ever had. I can't be arsed paying my hard earned money to watch this lot lose every week. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it. There's more important things in life.

They may be "poor" but they are better than Latics, evidently. Let's face it, this time next season, with a settled squad of competent players, Latics could be dancing around the poor fuckers who have just been relegated from the league in the same way other teams are currently doing with us.
Aye, and we could also be complaining after being beaten away at Curzon Ashton. Because I don't think it's hyperbole at this point to say that it could happen unless things change ASAP...
What is your most unpopular Latics opinion or belief?
