Granted he’ll have the benefit of playing behind closed doors to begin with but if the squad is poor and we get off to a bad start I can see it ending poorly before Christmas.
  2. On paper, this is a decent set of players (not team) at this level. For me, from our squad, it I’d be Sylla. He wins the ball and gives it to McCann and he looks for Maouche. Problem is, Maouche is usually too deep.
  3. We’d struggle with this brand of football and this squad next year if that was the case.
  4. Agreed. People were unimpressed at Carlisle when the late change was made and Zeus was clearly bemused during warmup. How things change.
  5. First of all, most of squad is non league standard. The way I see it, this league is horrendous. I’m yet to see one decent team. I thought FGR looked well drilled first game of the year but they were as woeful as us on Sat. Was at Bradford, Mansfield and Salford home and away and they were night and day games. Even before the sendings off Mansfield should have been 4 up. They all convincingly beat us but were average in the next meeting. Seems every team has shaky defence. A midfield that cannot consistently accurately deliver a final ball and a forward line that struggle to hit t
  6. Nail on the head. Tactics should be, ‘Danny, where do you want the ball?’ ’Hear that lads? Feed him’. Why Dino feels he has to change Rowe’s game is beyond me. Smith and Dearnley seem to suit Rowe’s game. Just let him do his thing.
  7. I can only assume it is because they genuinely don’t care. The same as the club have clearly started some sort of b grade media assault on Twitter: seemingly scooping up old accounts and starting new ones with pro AL rhetoric. The fact that these patsies are mocking the size of the last protest tells you all you need to know about their attitude towards the dissatisfaction fans are feeling. I hope it backfires and it inspires more to go and make some noise on the 7th.
  8. I agree with all you are saying although Byrne and Doyle seem to doing alright. Just pointing out that the deal we offered to Maynard was the lowest he received including deals from a couple of non league clubs. I do not blame him for choosing Mansfield. But we cannot talk about scrimping and saving when we have Vera, Sefil, Maouche, et al on our books and our sporting director thinks he’s doing a good job.. I would rather have the likesof one Maynard than all of the . Yet I also agree that Dino has frozen them out and is, in my opinion, weeding the likes of them out. Bottom line:
  9. So are most of our squad and plenty of the players we’ve played against. Sad times was more so getting financially outmuscled, particularly for Maynard, by non league teams. And most other things to be fair. Yes. Particularly now considering his big move.
  10. Sad times. Was this the lad with us last week or whenever it was?
  11. Imagine being outbid by Non League clubs for Maynard. . . Now stop imagining-this is reality. Would also like to know if we were actually after this lad and were, once again, overlooked in favour of a non league team. I’m starting to think 97 years (or there abouts) in League 1 is going to seem like the Bovis days compared to the 2 or 3 we spend in this league before slipping away with barely a whimper into Non League.
  12. No idea who it is but was just wondering if there was any more info. First read it was a player on trial which begs the question of why have a player, particularly a striker, who is allegedly banging them in knowing we cannot sign without shipping players. Dino knew that. Smell a bit Bullseye ‘Here’s what you could have’. Was just wondering if it was more a case of we had an out of contract player training with us and Dino has spoken to AL about signing him after him doing well. Still think it’s a tease either way knowing we need a striker only to have one at the club
  13. Any news on the striker on trial with us who wants a move but AL has said players need to go first? Anyone have any info on why we would have a player with us knowing we couldn’t sign him? Or is it simply a case of a decent player training with us and Dino fancies signing him. Either way it seems a bit of a tease.
  14. The atmosphere. Where we were fans were arguing amongst themselves. Some moved closer to the front clearly waiting for the final whistle. Not sure this how old this child is but mine was is 9, wasn’t in tears but said, ‘Can we go?’ When I asked why he said , ‘The atmosphere is not nice’. He’s been to many away days and plenty of hostile grounds but that was the first one I felt that I wanted to leave early because it was clear what was going to happen and you had to walk through it to get to the exit.
  15. We left at 82 mins. There had been a little bit of back and forth between fans about standing up that was clearly fuelled by the frustration of the score line but it was clear that it was going to get nasty at the final whistle. Even my 9 year old son just looked at me and said, ‘Can we go?’
  16. Felt for Dolan against County. Was clear in on goal and Desire could have passed it to him but went for it himself (which is fair enough from a striker’s point of view - Desire could have scored with pretty much his first touch). Then, for the rest of the half, he couldn’t get a pass to him and started trying to find the ball which pulled him out of position. I hope he gets a run at some point. Talented lad.
