  1. The Pete Wild interlude in 2019 was a bit of a revelation, and I certainly feel he'd be a better bet than Mellon, though I also suspect that there might be something amiss at a higher level than team manager at Boundary Park which could make his job a fair bit more difficult than it ought to be. Scholes has always given the impression that he doesn't have enough upstairs to make the grade in management.
  2. Same reaction here. I listen to all the BBC radio commentaries, but I'm beginning to dread them. Every time a Latics player gains possession, nine times out of ten the ball is back with the opposition within a couple of seconds.
  3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68455097 Is this really our lineup for today? Fondop and Sheron should surely be starting, should they not?
  4. My impression also purely from listening to the audio commentary is that Southend were ahead on points at H-T, especially after that last ditch flurry in the last couple of minutes. This Bridge character seemed to be involved in everything.
  5. Latics not exactly dominating this game, are they? Green off - seemed to be our best player!
  6. Still potentially a treacherous situation putting your club into the hands of a 'foreign investor'. Venkys, anyone? Glazers? Lemsagem?
  7. He referred to them as 'The Dale' in his election victory speech! Starting at the 6:45 mark.
  8. And now George Galloway's pledged to do his utmost to save the club. Might they be entering into a shirt sponsorship deal with the PLO?
  9. I only listen to the radio commentaries these days, so I'm susceptible to being shot down in flames by people who actually attend the games. But anyway, my impression when listening to most games this season, whether under the Unsworth regime or Mellon's, is that whenever Latics gain possession, then 90% of the time the first pass either goes to an opposition player or ends up as a throw-in or a goal kick. In today's game, it seems that Woking regularly constructed moves which involved six or seven consecutive passes at least.
  10. Seem to be really struggling here. Probably ought to be a couple of goals down to judge from the commentary.
  11. I've no way of following this game either through video or audio media, but from the comments here it doesn't look great. This competition is surely a golden opportunity for the club to grab some sort of glory for the season, assuming (as seems likely) that we won't be exiting this league in 2024. So you'd assume that Mellon would be putting out a line up that could demolish this opposition. Is that the case? Are Norwood and Fondop on the field? Edit: I'm assuming from the latest posts that we're losing....
  12. Even from just following the game on radio commentary, it seems clear that we never string more than a couple of passes together. This seems to happen on a regular basis!
  13. Hogan apparently booked for time wasting - with 35 minutes remaining!
  14. I didn't realize that editing other people's posts was a thing in this neck of the woods. I'll have to keep a close eye on you in future, Worcester Owl, lol.
  15. Are you implying that I'm advocating 'Mellon out'? If so, maybe you should take a closer look at my posts. By the way, I actually agree with at least 90% of what you say in your post.
  16. I'm just saying that's the way some indicators are pointing (in my opinion). Hope I made it clear that I want him to stick at it, which surely implies that I think he has what it takes?
  17. I get the impression that a good few posters on here are beginning to lose faith in his judgment and maybe his overall managerial capabilities. If that's representative of the fan base as a whole, it's not great news. Also, the obvious persistence of dismal home performances.
  18. First real indications here that the Mellon regime could end in tears, and sooner rather than later, but I do hope he'll have the resolution to get to grips with the situation and see things through.
  19. I hadn't realized that Solihull were managed by Henry VIII before I saw this video:
